Occasionally wet start to the weekend. Improving tomorrow, but still blustery. I will have all the weekend weather and the very latest on what we can expect from storm brian, in the next half an hour. In sport. The sound every football manager dreads. Booing. Boos ring out after west ham lose 3 0 to brighton, piling the pressure on manager slaven bilic. When youre weary. The teenager who lost her love for music after the Manchester Bombing finds her voice again. Good morning, first our main story. Speed limits through motorway roadworks could be raised from 50 to 60 Miles Per Hour. The proposed changes follow trials by highways england which showed drivers feel safer at higher speeds. Jon donnison reports. Roadworks and mile after mile of Little Orange cones are the bane of many drivers lives. The current speed limit when passing through motorway roadworks is 50 mph, but highways england says that could be increased to up to 60. It follows trials where drivers were fitted with heartrate monitors to measure stress levels, driving through roadworks at different speeds. 60 of participants recorded a decrease in average heart rates in the 60 mph trial zone. In the 55 mph zone, the decrease was 56 . Some drivers said they were more relaxed at higher speeds because it allowed them to accelerate away from large lorries. But ucatt, the Union Representing road workers, has described the plans as a deadly version of wacky races, which would make dangerous work areas twice as dangerous. Highways england says it is carrying out further tests, but the changes could be phased in by the end of the year. Jon donnison, bbc news. Parts of the uk are preparing for the arrival of storm brian, with winds of up to 70 Miles Per Hour and waves expected to batter some coastal areas. 0ur reporter Clare Woodling is in cornwall for us. You can see the wind is picking up. Absolutely, just look at the see behind me, waves of some height and frequency have been coming in from the south west, barrelling in through the morning. People here have been used problems related to the weather but conditions this rough are unusual. No boats on the water, completely deserted. Something similar could be said of life on land. I have seen some dog walkers out this morning. The dogs dont seem to mind the stormy conditions, but their owners are less impressed. It might be because people are wisely heeding the advice of the environment agency, which is to keep away from the coast and stay out of the water, stay safe online. We spoke to them earlier today in the fishing port which has been less affected than dissipated. We there at high tide when we were expecting the town to be most vulnerable. But the town to be most vulnerable. But the water was not coming over the top of the temp one quaysides at that point. We are expecting that the weather, the high winds will continue until 11pm tonight. We will continue until 11pm tonight. We will continue to monitor things through the day. The World Health Organisation has appointed the zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador. It said the appointment was because of the african countrys commitment to public health. Critics say his human rights record renders him unfit to represent the organisation. The United States has intervened to try to prevent further conflict between kurdish and iraqi forces in the disputed oil fields of northern iraq. It has urged the government to control its forces in parts of the country claimed by both baghdad and the kurdistan in government. Its feared the latest action could further destabilise the region. The majority of households have experienced problems with their broadband over the last year, with slow speeds being the most common complaint. A survey by which found that customers of virgin media, talktalk, sky and bt were the most likely to be affected. Simon gompertz reports. Frustration with broadband is boiling over in some households. Weve become so dependent on it for shopping, banking and entertainment that the internet not working can drive people mad. It cuts out more than it should. I live in the countryside and its terrible there, like 5 megabytes per second is the maximum youll get. The speed in my area doesnt work as well as it should. It depends on where you live. I live in a newbuild apartment, so the speed is pretty good. I get what i pay for. Which . s survey shows 21 of customers had problems with speed. I7 experienced frequent dropouts in the connection. 12 had a wireless router fault, and 8 had no connection at all for hours or days. With talktalk, 33 said speed was very slow. 22 in the case of bt. 38 of virgin customers complained about price increases. Talktalk says it is disappointment and its extensive Investment Programme has already led to fewer faults and quicker repair times. Virgin says its service is faster and the majority of its customers get their advertised speed or above at peak times. There is a regulator, 0fcom, with the job of making sure companies provide what they promise. It says they must up their game. Simon gompertz, bbc news. The Spanish Government is expected to take the first steps to imposing direct rule on catalonia later today its likely to increase tensions with Pro Independence supporters. The catalan Regional Government says it will respond with a unilateral declaration of independence. Tim willcox is in barcelona this morning. We come to you with that magnificent backdrop, the blue skies and city of barcelona. As i understand it the streets behind you are expected to be filled with hundreds of thousands of people as this hugely important day unfolds. You are right, charlie. And just above one of the most famous streets here, the cathedral, still unfinished, they have been building it for 100 years. Hundreds of thousands, some reports say maybe even a Million People will take to the streets today in protest at the imposition of direct rule from madrid. A Cabinet Meeting taking place in madrid at the moment with mariano rajoy, the spanish prime minister. He has always said the october one referendum was illegal, unconstitutional, and he says he has been forced, with the backing of the king, to impose article 155 to take back control of this autonomous region. Its a real headache for him to impose direct rule, there is a 17,000 strong local police force here, so who will they be answerable to. What about the economic and educational ministries . Will he suspend the Catalan Government . There is a lot at stake here and madrid needs to be very wary about how provocative the actions were from the National Police on october one when they raided polling stations and were dragging people out by their hair and there were a lot of violent scenes. A difficult day for the Spanish Government. It will have to go to the senate and the past there, but this is now the start of the imposition of direct rule. Tim willcox, thank you, reporting from barcelona. Nick will have the weather for us, the latest on storm brian, and michael will have the sports later. It could soon take drivers less time to get through motorway roadworks if plans to raise the speed limit to 60mph are introduced. New research by highways england has found that motorists feel safer going faster through stretches where work is taking place. For his thoughts were joined by edmund king, president of the aa whos in our london newsroom. Thank you for your time today. How is this going to make driving safer . We often dont hear driving faster is safer. It has to be targeted at the longer stretches of road works where there are no workers around, and the wider stretches. Why it makes it safer, at 50 mph, most trucks have a speed limiter set at 56 mph. Sometimes they are pretty relu cta nt to 56 mph. Sometimes they are pretty reluctant to slow down, so you get a lot of tailgating of trucks driving very close to cars, and then the ca is very close to cars, and then the cars are inclined to speed up. Thats one factor. The other factor is that at 50 mph and many drivers spend the time going through roadworks looking at the speedometer instead of the road ahead. I think on certain stretches, and it certainly wouldnt be relevant on all stretches, but on certain stretches i do believe it could make roads safer and reduce a bit of congestion. What about the people who are working on the roads . I thought the whole idea was we drive slower to protect them. Indeed so. When work is ongoing and in close proximity to the carriageways, we should stick at the lower speeds. Sometimes it needs to be lower than 50 depending on the layout. We have hundreds of miles of road works currently. We have recently had about 15 miles of road works on the m3 where they are converting it into a smart motorway. In many stretches there were no workers. Lanes were put in for work that took place at night. It showed in the trial that it could be safer and drivers heart rates were lower because you did not have trucks thundering up behind you. Its not relevant everywhere, but if it is targets, it could help. There are other things we could do, like more lay by is on smart motorway. Smart motorway is where you use the hard shoulder as running lane, you have a lay by is a half so when somebody breaks down it causes massive congestion. Having extra labour eyes, meaning a car if it brea ks labour eyes, meaning a car if it breaks down can get off the road, it will keep things going. Extra laden buys. If the speed limit goes up laden buys. If the speed limit goes up what is to stop drivers, say they are going at 50 mph, and they think they can get away with 51155. If it goes up to 60, what is to stop drivers going up to 65 . What. It is the average speed camera that is now calibrated very precisely to speed limits measuring your speed over the average distance. They have proved to be very effective. So i dont think this is a case of 60 meaning 70. That would be far too far. Enforcement and targeting will be key. It might not work at night, if roadworks are not slipped. What we would like to see are more variable speeds that reflect the dangers of specific roads, rather than assuming 50 mph is the norm. In various areas we could go faster and be safer. When speed limits change, drivers spend a lot of time looking at their speedometer, concentrating on that instead of the road. Will this be a problem . That was a problem, particularly at 50. Often people look capped their speedometer where it doesnt feel like the natural speed to be doing. So if you are in a pretty wide lane, on roadworks, and its a straight bit of road. 55 01 and its a straight bit of road. 55 or 60 probably feels like the speed you should be doing. And you are less likely to look at your speedometer. But the real danger with the Current System is tailgating. I have seen so many incidents of trucks driving less than a foot from the car in front because they are not willing to slow down. Because of the road then has a hill ahead, its hard for them to speed up. So over the average, they are probably only doing 50 Miles Per Hour, but on some stretches they are trying to go to their 56 limit. That can cause problems. If by high having a slightly higher speed limit, i think it will reduce some of the dangers and anxieties of drivers. President of the aa, thank you for talking to us. Maybe you are on the roads this weekend or trying to enjoy a bit of country air. Heres nick with a look at this mornings weather. Lots of whether to talk about as storm brian crosses the British Isles. This is from kent, a rainbow. Some thunder and lightning with showers in east sussex, and very strong winds because of storm brian. Mumbles is an exposed site just west of swa nsea. Mumbles is an exposed site just west of swansea. Gusts of over 70 mph recorded there. Its those exposed parts of the west and south of the uk seeing the strongest winds with storm brian moving across the British Isles. It will move out over the north sea by this evening. The wind will pick up further for many of us over the next few hours. For many of us its a regular low we ought day. But coastal parts of western wales we will see wind gusts getting up to 70 mph in the most exposed parts. Regular blowy autumn day. We are concerned about overtopping waves that might come overtopping waves that might come over coastal defences. Those spring tides, the high tides that happen once a month. They will be exacerbated by the wind. We have a speu exacerbated by the wind. We have a spell of rain moving through Northern Ireland. The north and east of scotla nd Northern Ireland. The north and east of scotland and down the eastern side of england, you can pick up a few showers from time to time but also drier moments and sunny spells. The picture at 4pm with showers rattling along the south coast that could be thundery. More likely to be a spell of rain moving out of Northern Ireland into north wales, north west england, looking pretty wet this afternoon and into tomorrow morning. The same in south west scotland. Sunny spells in north east scotland. Sunny spells in north east scotland. The wind is not a strong with the system elsewhere in the uk. The wind picking up a little bit more for Northern Ireland tonight, northern in that, maybe southern scotla nd northern in that, maybe southern scotland as storm brian moves out into the north sea. Wet at times, but not necessarily wet all the time. The second part of the weekend tomorrow. North west england, south east scotland, very wet in the morning, a gradual improvement through the day. A band of showers moving through South West England. Many of us will be turning drier and brighter with the wind easing a touch. It will be cooler tomorrow, 1114d. Touch. It will be cooler tomorrow, 11 1lid. Storm brian still sitting out in the north sea tomorrow, but weakening considerably. Its one of the most emotive and divisive issues the church of england has faced in recent times and now the issue of services of blessing in church for same sex couples will be debated. If theyre agreed by the churchs ruling general synod, the service could be held after a couple has married in a secular ceremony, or formed a Civil Partnership. We spoke to the director of the conservative evangelical group reform earlier. Jesus teaching is really clear about our marriage and sexual relationships. He calls us to live in relationships that are either single relationships, where we have mothers, fathers, friends, brothers and sisters. All we are to get married, and between one man and one woman for life. And thats a really wonderful picture of the way reacts to the church. So i would hate to see anything that undermines that. But at the same time we want to, yes, bring a welcome to our gay brothers and sisters into the church. We can talk now to reverend andrew foreshew cain, who was the first church of england vicar to enter into a same sex marriage. Good morning. You were here in the comments there. Do you want to respond . The hereford motion being debated at the moment is not about changing the doctrine of marriage. Its about being able to offer services of thanksgiving and dedication to gay and lesbian couples who have made a lifelong commitment to each other, either in a Civil Partnership or secular marriage. Suzie has slightly missed the point about what hereford is asking for. A couple of things people might be confused by. We are calling you reverend andrew, but you area calling you reverend andrew, but you are a retired reverend, but circumstances you were forced into. Wa nts a circumstances you were forced into. Wants a priest, always a priest, so i will always be a reverend, but when my husband was in manchester i left my parish in london. Im on a blacklist for the church of england because i got married. Therefore when i left myjob in london there was no possibility of me getting anotherjob in the church. No church would take you . Anotherjob in the church. No church would take you . There are churches that would give me a job, but the bishops will not acknowledge or license me or allow me to have a job. What happens when the church wa nts you job. What happens when the church wants you but the bishops say no, is there no discussion or argument to make . The bishops control the process of giving people permission to do things. So a parish might want me to work with them, but because the bishop will not license me, i cant. Two things are happening simultaneously. You understand better than we do, but these blessings are happening in church. All over the place. There was one in a cathedral this summer. Im doing three this year. They are happening, but the official position of the church of england is they dont happen. It is similar to divorce. The official position of the church of england is that divorce isnt allowed, but the reference all over the country will marry divorced people all over the place. Why does this need to be debated and possibly rejected by the general synod, which would then make it possibly more difficult for individual priest to make the decision within their own church. There is honest there is the honesty factor of admitting what is happening. There is also the public statement. Vickers dont know what they can and cant do without being in the wrong. There is a clergy discipline measure and you could be subject to discipline for taking a service. Having it official would mean the uncertainty is removed. Do you understand why some people object . I do, buti removed. Do you understand why some people object . I do, but i also think if somebody doesnt believe in 93v think if somebody doesnt believe in gay marriage, they dont have to marry somebody of the same sex. If you dont believe in divorce, you dont have to get divorced or remarry somebody who is divorced. A lot of people, the majority of the church of england, welcome gay and lesbian people into their churches and celebrate their relationships and celebrate their relationships and want to see those relationships act knowledge. Speaking in terms of the mission of the church of england, and we havejust the mission of the church of england, and we have just published oui england, and we have just published our Mission Statistics and they show a continuing decline in attendance, every time a couple is sent away from the church and told, we will not recognise or bless your relationship, they will tell their family, friends, work colleagues, and they will form a further negative opinion of the church and its life. Referent, thank you for talking to us. The church of england said in a statement. It is recognised that there is real and profound disagreement in the church of england over questions relating to human sexuality. We are seeking to find ways forward rooted in scripture and the christian faith. This is breakfast. Were on bbc one until ten oclock this morning, when Glynn Purnell takes over in the saturday kitchen. Our special guest is brad simpson. Food heaven and food hell, talk to me about that. When you rang me about it i was injapan. I was very influenced by japanese food. About it i was injapan. I was very influenced byjapanese food. I have gone for tuna with japanese flavours. My hell would be squared, mustard and fennel. Squid. Flavours. My hell would be squared, mustard and fennel. Squid. We have a legend in the kitchen, michel roux. What will you make for us today . Its a cheesecake with pistachio. I will be cutting a real winter warmer. Braised pistachio. I will be cutting a real winterwarmer. Braised beef pistachio. I will be cutting a real winter warmer. Braised beef cheeks, long and slow, three hours cooking, with some squints in there as well. With some quince in there as well. Jane, you have to marry winds for these. I have spicy red wine for ben s dish. For these. I have spicy red wine for ben s dish. Add also an accompaniment to that cheesecake. You are in charge of brads heaven and hell, so go to the website for details. We will see you at ten oclock. Youre watching breakfast from bbc news. Time now for a look at the newspapers. Political historian mike firm is here to tell us whats caught his eye. Brexit has been over everything this week. Its dominating the news so much come you have picked up a story in relation to city workers. Much come you have picked up a story in relation to city workerslj much come you have picked up a story in relation to city workers. I have to apologise because brexit, the never ending story. But with relation to city workers, this story in the was interesting because it highlighted, jumping off a tweet from the ceo of Goldman Sachs on thursday when he was unambiguous saint great weather in frankfurt, lovely place. Just as well i will be here more often, brexit. Saying great weather. They have looked at possible relocations of staff around the london stock exchange, and there are around 13,000 potential relocations. Also doomsday scenarios of up to 200,000 redundancies. The kickerfor me was of up to 200,000 redundancies. The kicker for me was they did a graphic with the story, talking about how distributed it is. When we think of the city of london, we think of the city of london. However, if you looked at the graphic, you see in the financial chain, if you like, over 200,000 jobs dependent on the strea m over 200,000 jobs dependent on the stream in the north west, 150,000 in scotland. It could have hit impact across the uk. What does history tell us about where the impact is dealt with . London has become the hub. The suggestion and the anxiety is that it is not set in stone guaranteed. One of the key points about history is that it is not set in stone. It keeps changing. But britains sensuality as a Financial Services part of the world as longer foundations than just the eu. Centrality. Its not by any means guaranteed that if things dont go well with brexit negotiations its all overfor london as well with brexit negotiations its all over for london as a financial centre, but as the story indicates, they will have to find more loopholes and find more creative ways of doing things. We have been talking about Harvey Weinstein and the allegations of Sexual Harassment against him, which he has denied. Quentin tarantino has said he was aware of weinsteins behaviour. At least he said he felt complicit in this. We suspect a lot of people we re this. We suspect a lot of people were aware and are saying nothing. This is a difficult one. He has announced that he feels complicit, felt complicit in this. The question over this is also, what is the role of men in this process in the broader sense thanjust of men in this process in the broader sense than just the abuse. The issue around complicity, power relationships. The criticism tarantino has relationships. The criticism tara ntino has come relationships. The criticism tarantino has come in for after his admission yesterday was that it was his girlfriend mira sorvino who told him of these allegations. Rose mcgowan also spoke to him about it. But he saw Harvey Weinstein as a fatherfigure. We but he saw Harvey Weinstein as a father figure. We have but he saw Harvey Weinstein as a fatherfigure. We have seen but he saw Harvey Weinstein as a father figure. We have seen the but he saw Harvey Weinstein as a fatherfigure. We have seen the me too hashtag in the week, and the prevalence in society. The questions around tara ntino are prevalence in society. The questions around tarantino are now, why did you allow this to continue and why we re you allow this to continue and why were you complicit in the process . That story is based in hollywood, but the issues go right across the board. They go through academia, every workplace effectively. There are questions that my sociological collea g u es are questions that my sociological colleagues would use the phrase toxic masculinity. There are questions around, does this permeate most institutions and to what extent is it permeates society . There has been an illustration with that in the week with the hashtag. Something lighter to finish on . I dont know if this is lighter. People stealing plastic bags, not paying 5p about one sixth of people admit they steal bags from stores. One of the issues around that is that it is a charity levy with a large proportion going to charities. That would be on the Self Checkout where you push the button to say you want to buy one and people just take them. The psychology of this is you can rationalise the behaviour. People have rationalised it with themselves. When they take from big supermarkets they think it will bear the cost because its a lack of awareness of where the money goes. Do you sleep well . Not as well as i would like. This is why you picked this. Weight gain linked to bad sleep. A question from the university of exeter, looking at peoples sleeping patterns. This is alarming to me. It says that if you have less than the recommended amount of sleep, broken sleep, a predisposition towards obesity anyway, then it could mean you gain up anyway, then it could mean you gain up to £8 back over somebody else, six lbs if you are active. If you dont sleep well then your reward centre kicks in and you start eating sugar. Not a good subject for people working on bbc breakfast. The headlines are coming up. Hello, this is breakfast with Naga Munchetty and charlie stayt. A summary of this mornings main news. Speed limits through motorway roadworks could be raised from 50 to 60 Miles Per Hour. The proposed changes follow trials which found drivers felt safer at higher speeds as they could accelerate away from large lorries and vans. Highways england says its carrying out further tests but the changes could be phased in by the end of the year. Winds of up to 70 Miles Per Hour and high tidal waves are expected in parts of the uk this morning, as storm brian makes landfall. Some coastal communities have been preparing for the arrival of the storm stocking up with sandbags for barricades. Forecasters are warning of the potential for power cuts, flooding and delays to transport. The met office has issued a yellow weather warning for a swathe of britain, including wales and southern england up to the midlands. Thousands of protestors are expected to take to the streets of barcelona later, as the Spanish Government is expected to impose direct rule on catalonia. A new report has revealed the majority of households have experienced problems with their broadband over the past year. A which investigation found slow speeds the most common complaint and customers of virgin media, talk talk, sky and bt were the worst affected. Those are the main stories this morning. So. A huge week when womens football has been in the headlines. The focus was back on the football. It was top of the players. The interim coach said that change can be topped. Eni aluko could be back in the fold soon when she gets her comeback for chelsea. The game was a cagey affair, with few clear cut chances before viviane asseyi, capitalised on goalkeeper siobhan chamberlains mistake, to snatch victory in the last minute. England goalkeeping coach lee kendall who is under investigation for alleged unacce ptable behaviour towards striker eni aluko was not at the match. We are well aware that there is an investigation, but tonight showed the true professionalism of the staff and players who got on with the job. Its been a different field because we are humans at the end of the day and we are well aware of whats going on through social media, but weve just got to keep playing for the little girl who fell in love with the game when we were six or seven. We love playing for england and hopefully the public can see that. Brighton have heaped more pressure on west ham manager slaven bilic with a 3 0 premier league win at the london stadium, their first victory, away from home this season. Glenn murray put the visitors ahead after only ten minutes with his first goal of the season. And his second from the spot was sandwiched between a first strike of the season forjose izquierdo. Bilic apologised after the game to the home fans, who booed at the final whistle he says his future is not up to him. Are you worried about your position . Im not worried, but realistic. How will you deal with the speculation that will follow this result . Those speculations were here before and i am here as the manager of the team. As i said, i dont want to hide behind anything. It is my responsibility and now its up to the board. Next to one of the worlds weirdest sporting trophies. Its a tradition that dates back to 1921, in rugby union showdowns between bath and scarlets, and in last nights champions cup match, steff evans gave the welsh side, the lead. But bath dominated, and the former scarlets man rhys priestland, kicked six penalties to give them the 18 13 victory, and with it ragdoll, which is awarded to the winners, and is said to have started in a pub nearly a century ago. This is actually the great grandson of the original. British fighter Lauren Williams claimed a breakthrough world taekwondo grand prix title on a brilliant day for the gb team in london. Williams who is a two time world junior champion defeated ivory coasts former senior World Champion ruth gbagbi 43 23 in the 67kg final. British horse racing, reaches the climax of its flat season today, with its now traditional, and lucrative, quip co champions day at ascot. For one man it will be, an unforgettable occasion, whatever happens in the days racing, because silvester, de sousa will today, be formally crowned britains champion jockey. De sousas route to the top, is astonishing; he grew up in a rural part of brazil and first came to europe, unable to speak a word of english. Is not easy to be a champion and when you are a foreigner from a different country, its even harder, you know. The chances less, say have do make the chances come to you. The trainers have been great to me and eve ryo ne trainers have been great to me and everyone has given me great support. Ill have more on story later. Now there was a rare sighting of an albatross, at the valderrama masters golf yesterday. Not the actual bird, but the term for a very special golf score. It means you get the ball in, in three fewer shots than is par for a hole. Dutchman joost luiten, was playing his second shot, at the par five, 11th hole during the second round in spain. He launched his ball up the hill, it rolled onto the green and into the hole. Luitens, albatross helped him, into the lead on seven under par. Surfing makes its debut at the Tokyo Olympics, and the build up starts this weekend in north wales . But not on the coast. The countrys top riders will be competing inland, on the longest man made waves in the world. Ijoined them this week in training to see how this could help the british team win medals in 2020. In the foothills of snowdonia, a valley in north wales, and a surfing revolution. Well, if you cant get surfers to the sea, bring the sea to them. On the site of an old aluminium factory, the worlds longest artificial wave, the uks only inland lagoon. There is no watching the weather or waiting for a wave here. One is artificially generated every 90 seconds, using that snowplough type machine in the middle. It can create waves of up to two metres, so testing our olympic hopefuls. Theyll begin theirjourney towards the sports debut in tokyo 2020 in front of the crowds here this weekend. Great for training. England doesnt have the most consistent of waves. Here, because the waves are so consistent and so similar every time, you can really dial in your skills, which puts us ahead of the game, i guess. They surf on water piped down from the mountain reservoirs. And as the wave develops down the lagoon, it picks up the intermediate and then the novice surfers. Hands at your shoulders. Lean back. And then the moment when you are told to paddle and you can feel the roar of the giant artificial wave behind you. Whoa hurtling you forward with surprising speed. Then its a case of trying to jump to your feet. There we are. Thatjust shows you how steady those waves are. My first time standing up, all the way to shore. Ive never had that in the sea before. Ijoined some of the 60 youngsters from the local Community Surf club, who are now given weekly sessions. Most have never been near a proper wave before. I was scared of the waves and its made me more confident with it. Confident with other stuff as well. Its an amazing experience because when you catch it you feel like youre on cloud nine or something. Its really good. While the Tokyo Olympics event will be on the ocean, after that, many see artificial lagoons as the long term future, because they take away the lottery of competing on the sea. Sometimes you get the best surfers going down because there is no actual waves to do your things on. Itjust makes it an even Playing Field and everybody gets a wave, and the opportunity to show what they can do on the wave. It takes some getting used to and obviously you have the fence going right the way down the middle, and its weird with the noise going on, the whirring. Once you get used to it, its sweet. It is surprisingly physical, and my early promise gave way under wobbly legs. But the waters cleansed by uv light, so its clear and can be returned to the local rivers. As the waves keep coming, confidence is quickly restored. Remember not to try to run before you can walk, especially on a slippery shore. Just a justa reminderat just a reminder at the end there why lam not just a reminder at the end there why i am not on the uk set to you have to have your wits about you the whole time. Good luck to all the competitors tomorrow. Thank you. The sexual harrassment scandal surrounding hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has sparked the global metoo twitter campaign. Many people have spoken out on social media about their uncomfortable experiences. Its highlighted how one persons idea of flirting, can be perceived by another, as inappropriate behaviour. We spoke to some students in manchester about what they think. I think there is a blurred line between interest that is reciprocated and the same thing that is not if the other person isnt interested and that can be difficult to navigate. A lot of people make comments that they dont think about. I think it does make it clear that it about. I think it does make it clear thatitis about. I think it does make it clear that it is not ok. It makes you realise how prominent editors. People can feel vulnerable. People saying they have been through it it is confidence building, it is a very good campaign. Were not talking about people been physically assaulted only, but all of them have been made to feel uncomfortable and harassed sexually and that has definitely highlighted to me that behaviour i thought was acceptable in the past is definitely not acceptable. I am in the past is definitely not acceptable. Lam more in the past is definitely not acceptable. I am more aware of the issues. With us now to talk about this is chris hemmings, an author whos been tweeting about being guilty of what he calls low level harassment. And we also have sara heddi, from Manchester University students union, which offers advice and educates students about what Sexual Harassment is and how to deal with it. Is that filtering down through students . It is deftly summing that students . It is deftly summing that students are talking about more. It is summing that students are a lot more passionate about, notjust women, but male students as well. It isa women, but male students as well. It is a dialogue that has been opened and brought onto the table. Something that even three years ago wasnt spoken about as much. It is great that people are becoming more open about discussing their experiences and it has become very good. Chris, you have almost made a virtue about assessing your own behaviour. Was that prompted by what is happening of lake . It was prompted a time ago, by incidents that i found myself a part of as pa rt of that i found myself a part of as part of lad culture in university. My book, which is about macho culture and how it affects everyone, i recognised a lot of my behaviours werentjust affecting i recognised a lot of my behaviours werent just affecting me and the people around me, it was also affecting women, the chanting and leering, i once bought a drink over a womens head because i was told to buy rugby players. You realise the ridiculousness and how easy it is to get caught up in it with the safety in numbers dynamic. When you are a pa rt of in numbers dynamic. When you are a part of it you dont recognise the impact you can have on other people. It is only by these amazing campaigns and the prevalence of these hashtags that you recognise how prevalent it is. What do you do differently now . Hopefully not pouring tricks of the peoples heads. How have you assessed that i do this and it feels natural but it isnt good . I listen a lot more than i used to. For example, i dont have a single female friend from my time at university that i can call a close friend. I speak to women, it was great to chat you earlier about the work you do, and i listen to the people around me about how they experience everyday life. There are so experience everyday life. There are so many experience everyday life. There are so many women experience everyday life. There are so many women i have talked to in the research of my book that tommy about the harassment that happens to them on the tube, in nightclubs. I was out the other night and a friend of my partners and a guy that she had never metjust slapped her on the bum. Amazingly, herand her friends chased the guy out of the pub. It was incredible. It you recognise how commonplace it is. There was a side as chris was telling that story. Was that a side because it was so routine . It is something that i hear every day. Women complaining to me and telling me their stories. It is quite upsetting. I feel that things like this it become quite routine, i think that is why it is so great that the conversation has been brought forward. Because a lot of people feel like they dont have to report incidents like this because it isjust normal report incidents like this because it is just normal and report incidents like this because it isjust normal and what i should expect when i go on a night out. Rohingya can i add, the most interesting thing about that story was that the guy who did it, didnt recognise that he had done anything wrong. When he was confronted by these amazing women, i didnt have to do anything in amazement because women are more empowered to speak up now. He said, it wasjust a slap on the bum and i was being friendly. But he invaded her space and basically sexually assaulted her. He had no comprehension of the fact that he had done something wrong is. Some things that easier to see and do fine, an incident like that where something physical happened. But a lot of this is more subtle. And possibly wear more confusion lies about interactions and stepping over about interactions and stepping over a line which doesnt involve something physical, but is nonetheless a potential problem. Something physical, but is nonetheless a potential problemlj think theres a deft. Definite misrepresentation, it can stem a lot further than physical, emotional abuse, catcalling, verbally inappropriate comments, unwanted advances. Even psychological abuse, people who are just starting out in new relationships and getting emotionally manipulated. How does me saying that i like your shirt, that depends on your interpretation of my comment, doesnt it . Had you educate people how tojudge comment, doesnt it . Had you educate people how to judge or even comment, doesnt it . Had you educate people how tojudge or even predict how someone will react to something that you have said that seems fairly innocent . You cant predict how someone innocent . You cant predict how someone will react, but a lot of the responsibility has to lie with the individual. You have to notice signs on whether somebody is physically looking uncomfortable, or it not responding to your comment how you think they would. Once you recognise those signs it is youre responsible to remove yourself. Do you feel confident paints and a constant . Yesterday, it is a natural part of being a human being to save it your hair looks great, that doesnt mean lam coming hair looks great, that doesnt mean i am coming on cue, itjust means i appreciate summing about you. There isa appreciate summing about you. There is a clear line between that and pushing the boundaries of something of respectable comments. If i look you ina of respectable comments. If i look you in a weird way, or two of the compliment you,. Over compliment you. This is the idea of consent comes in, it is all about consent. We need to teach consent classes thatis we need to teach consent classes that is a mantra use here. And of course we do, because thats where all standardss stems from. Thank you for your time. We are going to talk about the weather. The winds are picking up on the coast. The sea is whipping up as well. It is definitely very blustery. Nick will tell us about the worst parts of the country to be affected as storm brian approaches. There is a contest there between what you saw and the eastern part of the uk. There is loads of sunshine, although it is quite windy and some of that sunshine into south east scotland. There is a west and east split in terms of sky conditions. Cloudy and wet in the west, sally in the east. Delhi blustery everywhere, but the strongest winds are hitting parts of the west coast of england, wales and along the south coast as well. These are some of the wind gust we have had so far this morning. There are some big waves starting to develop as well. Storm brian is moving across the republic of ireland, also getting hit by some big winds. You can see the swirl around storm brian. The strongest winds on the southern flank. The showers coming into western areas. Some of the forecasting gusts on the black arrows. Some of these coinciding with spring tides common nothing to do with the time of year, just a name given to high tides. That is why we are seeing big waves, another set of high tides coming in later this afternoon. You need to ta ke later this afternoon. You need to take care in coastal areas because of those big waves and stormy seas. Plenty of showers hitting the western parts of the uk, we have some western parts of the uk, we have some sunshine in the east. Clerical increase where we have blue sky at the moment. It will turn into rain in the north, wet as well in South West England would be strong winds. The wind arrows are now indicating the average wind speed rather than the gusts. Some sunny spells into east anglia. North west england through tonight and tomorrow morning, the rain totals will mount here. Not too much rain reaching north and east scotland. Some have had a wet start but it is pulling away. This is the low pressure weakening across the British Isles into the north sea. It is windy in some areas into the north sea. It is windy in some areas tonight although much of scotlands winds will not be a significant issue. These are the temperatures overnight. Part two of the weekend shapes up like this. The circulation of the wind is what is left of brian now. Not enough to produce a blustery day across the uk. Its excellent patchy outbreaks of rain, especially south west scotland. For many turns drier and brighter through the day. But it will feel cooler with a northwesterly wind rather than the south westerly we have this weekend this is the story of the weather over the weekend. Theres going to be a spare seat on the strictly come Dancing Panel tonight after it was announced that Bruno Tonioli will miss the show due to a busy work schedule. Itll be the first time bruno he hasnt appeared on strictly since it began 13 years ago, but he wont be replaced with a guestjudge. Last years winning professional dancer, joanne clifton, joins us now to talk about the highs and lows of the series so far and what effect brunos absence will have. It will be weird but seeing bruno on that panel. Yes it will. He would normally be falling off his chair he is the one you hope to be slightly more kind than the rest. Especially now with shelley on it, who is very harsh but fair. They are both a little bit harsh, you any have one nice once a night. It is worth explained that the reason he is not there is because they have simultaneously, and it is quite confusing, dancing with the stars is in the us and bruno is a judge there. So they are juggling both shows and flying back and forth. This is one time where there is an unavoidable clash and they knew it was going to happen. It is quite complicated, the choreography, excuse the pun, of them being there as the same time doing the show here. It is weird, i dont know how they do it. Len used to do it as well. It mustve been tiring. He said it was tiring but he loved it he said. You are not part of strictly now. You have your own bubble. That is why i have the pan. Lam touring bubble. That is why i have the pan. I am touring now. Bubble. That is why i have the pan. Lam touring now. Flashdance. Bubble. That is why i have the pan. Iam touring now. Flashdance. Do you miss strictly . I think after likely winning we didnt expect to win last year. I thought now was the right time to leave and follow my childhood dream of musical theatre. Ryan absolutely loving it, but i did watch it from my sofa last weekend andi watch it from my sofa last weekend and i was iwas watch it from my sofa last weekend and i was i was absolutely loving it. That was the time i went. I wish i was there. The judges have different personalities, you both made reference, bruno has an Extraordinary Energy in that line up. People will be thinking how does that work . When one of them is missing, the chemistry. He has not missed a show in 13 years, that is quite incredible. You would think at some quite incredible. You would think at some point she would be ill or whatever. Do you think the chemistry will be different . There will be a different energy. He is the crazy one. The crazy italian who is always standing up and sitting down even during the dances when you see the camera going past. He will be up on his feet and waving his arms. Craig doesnt hardly move a muscle in his face. Surely will be like that under her glasses, and started just watches. One of the truisms is that the show is so big that in the past thejudges that the show is so big that in the past the judges have come and gone, the presenters,. Past the judges have come and gone, the presenters,. The past the judges have come and gone, the presenters,. The show carries on. In most opinions, it is the biggest and best show on saturday night tv and i think it is the show that everybody. From three year olds on twitter videos dancing along to the tv. Right up to 100 year olds. It appeals to everybody. People can relate to the celebrities and Everybody Loves it. Who are you picking as a favourite . You are not allowed to say karen or. Kevin because they are your brother and sister in law. Or. Kevin because they are your brother and sister in lawlj or. Kevin because they are your brother and sisterinlaw. I have my eye on gemma. I think you have the front runners who are absolutely amazing, molly as well, joe. But gemma is doing a little bit better every week. Shelley said it is a marathon not a sprint. |j every week. Shelley said it is a marathon not a sprint. I agree. Ruth as well at the beginning. Because there are rumours that she has been on it quite a while, and she is wanted on the show. So she must have something good. She did a really good tango this week. Everyone is saying that the general standard is Getting Better every year. Do you see that reflected . If i am honest, i was there for the launch show and i sat at the side and watch them practice the first group dance they do together. I was a bit like, they dont look as good as last year s that was your initial impression . Yes, in the dress rehearsal. But when it was actually filmed i thought, they are very good and they are a very talented bunch. Are you picking a winner at this point . |j are a very talented bunch. Are you picking a winner at this point . I am going with gemma. We will see what happens. Good luck to them all. That is it for breakfast this morning. Stay safe, storm brian is on its way.
