Many are concerned about that. The papers are concerned about that. The papers are full of speculation and suggestion. We know is one tory suggestion. What we know is one tory mp has an urgent debate in mp has asked for an urgent debate in the commons and we will discover later this morning whether that has been granted or not. She wants it looked at again to make sure that people who are concerned have a proper recourse to bring those complaints forward. Her view was echoed much by the labour Leaderjeremy Corbyn who said he was willing to meet the pm to talk about this. There is Cross Party Consensus that this issue, in light of the Harvey Weinstein allegations in Harvey Weinstein allegations in needs Harvey Weinstein allegatians ia needs to be addressed now. America, needs to be addressed now. Separately, there is a trade minister, mark garnier, who will be investigated because of allegations his secretary bought sex toys for him six years ago. So it is swirling around today and you have a sense a grip on westminster wants to get a grip on it and prove taking the issue it and prove it is taking the issue seriously. For the moment, thank you. The Actor Kevin Spacey has apologised after he was accused of making a sexual advance on a child actor over 30 years ago. The institute of fiscal studies says Philip Hammond must decide whether to continue to cut the deficit or meet requests from cabinet colleagues to increase spending. Heres our Business Correspondent joe lynam. Injust over three in just over three weeks Philip Hammond will deliver the first budget of the new Parliament Amid immense economic and political uncertainty. He doesnt know what impact brexit will have on the public finances of tomorrow and he is under Major Pressure to tax less and spend more today. The respective think tank the institute for fiscal studies says austerity will have to continue if the deficit is to be cut but thats politically unpopular among voters and on both sides of the house of common. And the ifs says britains dismal productivity means public finances could soon be far worse with or without austerity. The chancellor has got the deficit 110w the chancellor has got the deficit now back to where it was pre crisis but all of the additional borrowing the government has done in the intervening period has meant Government Debt is a lot higher. That gives the motivation to bring deficit down further. It is difficult to do that with year after year of tax rises, benefit cuts and cuts to many public cuts to spending on many Public Services. As for the government it says we will continue to take a balanced approach to dealing with oui balanced approach to dealing with our debts while also investing in oui our debts while also investing in our Public Services to build an economy that works for everyone. Scrapping interest on Student Loans and extending the time limit on paying it back could help to avoid a future debt crisis, according to a centre right think tank. Uk 2020 says such action would drastically reduce the number of loans which have to be written off. The government says its committed to Sustainable University funding and will set out further steps in due course. I love this kind of story a eurasian lynx has escaped from its an animal park in wales. The animal, which is twice the size of a domestic cat, wow, escaped from borth wild Animal Kingdom, near aberystwyth. Its been missing for around five days, and they can travel up to 12 miles per day. Needless to say, if you have seen. A giant cat. Wandering around, or if you have it in your kitchen at the moment, offering it some milk, take a picture, send it in. Twice the size of a domestic cat. That is a big cat, isnt it . Yes, it is. Anyway, we would love to find the giant cat if we can. That brings you up to date. Carol will be here with the weather in around five minutes. And if you havent been out today, it is chile. She can give you the details. Lets talk about Lewis Hamilton. He may have only come ninth in the Mexican Grand Prix but Lewis Hamilton is now the most successful british f1 driver of all time. Quite something. John is in brackley, at the mercedes ho, where i imagine there would have been a bit of celebrating going on last night . Good morning to you both. Yes, sounds good, most successful driver ever. It is quite clear where we are, mercedes hq in brackley and one of the beautiful silver arrows. Imagine this on your driveway, using it to commute in this bad boy. Amazing. This is not a car that Lewis Hamilton won his title in. This was last years model. Nico rosberg did the business last year for mercedes. It was meant to be straightforward. Lewis hamilton had to finish fifth. We were all watching the collision on the first lap between lewis and Sebastian Vettel, coming together, the pair of them. It didnt matter in the end, as he worked his way into night and as he worked his way into night and asa as he worked his way into night and as a result of that, irrespective of where Sebastian Vettel finished, so he is the most successful driver in history for britain. I was here last night and celebrated with some of the team members who support the tea m the team members who support the team and the crew and the mechanics and the engineers who were at the race in mexico 5000 miles away. They we re race in mexico 5000 miles away. They were here monitoring data and working alongside Lewis Hamilton to get him over the line, which they did, didnt they, last night, and the champagne bottles were cleared, and there are some sore heads for those who are coming back into work this morning. Thanks very much. We will be with you through the morning. Always fascinating, they are like laboratories, f1 factories, they are a sealed and extreme precautions over the car. Extreme Technology Air sealed. We will be there all day. Lets take a look at the weather with carol. We know already it is quite chilly out. Morning. Absolutely right. At the moment it is minus five. That is not unusual for october. It is the lowest temperature we have seen since mid may. In fact, the whole of the uk since mid may and we have a widespread frost as well. So, if you are stepping out, wrap up warmly. It is quite a bright start with some pockets of mist and fog in parts of wales, herefordshire, that will lift quite badly, and we have quite a bit of clear skies around as well. Now, one weather front in in from the west is introducing cloud, drizzly conditions, the second from the west later on in the date will thicken the cloud and we will see some main entries with that as well. It is quite murky across western scotland. Away from that and we have bright skies. There are bright skies for Northern England. Look at those temperatures, 17 on the weekend in aberdeenshire, not even into double figures now. Northern ireland, cloud building in the west. And in wales into the midlands and east anglia to the south coast, lots of dry and bright weather. First thing this morning weve got some showers peppering the north sea coastline. In the afternoon most will have faded. We could see some in east anglia. Through this evening and overnight, with the cloud and rain coming from the west, it will be a much milder in comparison to what we have had it wont be a mild night. Further south under the clear skies there is the risk of some frost again. These are the temperatures in towns and cities by the end of the night. So tomorrow morning, we start with all of the cloud and rain moving across scotland, moving through Northern England as well. Further south, there will be some cloud around, it is also going to be breezy, but we will see sunshine as well and you can see the peppering showers across the irish sea and Northern Ireland and one thing you will notice is a change in temperature once again. Temperatures fairly low today, hardly getting into double figures across scotland, tomorrow, here we are in double figures. And further south, 13s and 14s, so the weather is topsy turvy through this week. From tuesday into wednesday, we have a weather front rate across Northern Ireland, parts of scotland and Northern England weatherfront brake. It is still breezy. Further south, weve got clear skies and sunshine. And again check out the temperatures, when that looking at 12s, 13s in the north, 15s and 16s in the south. From wednesday into thursday you can see the progress of the weather front as it starts to weaken, it splits, a little rich comes in before the next system comes in before the next system comes oui comes in before the next system comes our way. So comes in before the next system comes oui way. So on comes in before the next system comes our way. So on thursday it is a messy picture. Weve got a weather front, remember, splitting, so it will bring cloud and rain and equally lot of dry weather around and we are still looking at double figure temperatures. For the next one lou and chalier, i will have my teeth in my head and i will speak properly. You are always perfect to meet, carol. We know its cold, thats all we needed to know. You are watching breakfast from bbc news. The main stories this morning the leader of the house of commons has been urged to address mps about the governments response to allegations of inappropriate behaviour at westminster. Lewis hamilton has become britains most successful formula 1 driver, after he secured his fourth world title yesterday at the Mexican Grand Prix. Lets take a look at todays papers. Lots of them covering similar stories. The guardian front page, Lewis Hamilton clinching the fourth f1 title, we will talk about that throughout the morning. Also these allegations about what has been going on at westminster. Mps fear more sleaze claims will emerge. And papers have excerpts from Gordon Browns book, he has been talking about his character, himself. I didnt show enough emotion to win the election, is how he puts it. The front page of the times goes with fantastic pictures from yesterday in mexico, theresa may urged to take control of parliaments sex pest iow. Control of parliaments sex pest row. And in connection with formula one, we will have more in relation to the race itself, which was extraordinary. There was a crash on the first lap which put the two leaders right at the back of the pack. So even if you are not a regular formula one watcher or fan, the yesterdays race had everything. The front page of the telegraph, similar to the other papers, talking about theresa may and this letter she is writing today about allegations of Sexual Misconduct. And a lovely picture of Lewis Hamilton racing into history. On the front page of the daily mirror, on the subject of investigations, this is a story about the bbc presenter george riley, who has been suspended pending an investigation. There is a statement from the bbc which we have here. It says we cant comment on individuals but treat any allegations seriously and have processes in place for investigating them. The front page of the daily mail is talking about what has been going on in the house of commons. Looking at the inside pages. It is very odd with only the two of us here. It feels like we have two empty seats beside us. This story about wildlife. We are in wales for this story, and apparently on the beachin this story, and apparently on the beach in wales, this is newquay, one of the beaches there, and one of the fellows who watches out for dolphins says he was and he saw says he was on the beach and he saw octopuses walking across the beach. We all know the dangers that passive smoking poses to our friends and family, but what about the risk to household pets . Veterinary groups and the Royal College of nursing are working together to raise awareness about the damage smoking around animals can cause. Ricky boleto reports. Come on, millie. Lets go in. Millie isa come on, millie. Lets go in. Millie is ajuly come on, millie. Lets go in. Millie is a july were jack russell cross, full of energy most of the time, and doesnt mind the camera. Chihuahua. Amanda cook adopted her two years ago. For most of amandas aduu two years ago. For most of amandas adult life, she smoked cigarettes, unsure of the potential damage it might be having on millies health. When the children come, with grandchildren, i dont smoke. I am happy to smoke when they are not here, just me and millie. I have a lwa ys here, just me and millie. I have always done it, never really thought that it would harm a pet. While experts say, just like humans, pets are at risk of second hand smoke. They often spend more time indoors, close to their owners, where they can breathe it in. So for the first time, both human and veterinary professionals have teamed up to raise awareness. We already know not to smoke around our children, but we are asking you to think twice about where you smoke around your pets, so whether that be on the sofa, out in the car, or on the dog walk, just be aware of the damage that nicotine and smoke particles could be causing to your animals. Campaigners say smoking around cats and dogs can increase their risk of developing cancers. Smaller pets like rabbits and guinea pigs may be prone to eye and guinea pigs may be prone to eye and other diseases. Back to millie. To find out more, a sample of her fur is being analysed by scientists in this lab. We looked at the head assemble that was given to us, in this lab. We looked at the head ass compared was given to us, in this lab. We looked at the head ass compared itvas given to us, in this lab. We looked at the head ass compared it to given to us, in this lab. We looked at the head ass compared it to a iven to us, in this lab. We looked at the head ass compared it to a dog to us, in this lab. We looked at the head ass compared it to a dog which wasnt we compared it to a dog which wasnt living in a household that was subjected to smoking hair sample. The key difference that we are looking at here is in the amount of nicotine present, and in the dog, living in a household where there is smoking, the levels of nicotine are significantly higher. The question is how much higher. Time for millie and amanda to find out. Shall we go to the vet . Shall we go to the vet . Come on, then. Good girl. We have seen the results back from the lab, andi seen the results back from the lab, and i understand the nicotine on her hair and i understand the nicotine on her ha i r levels and i understand the nicotine on her hair levels are higher. They are about 70 times higher than some comparison hairs from another dog in a non smoking household. What do you think you can do to try and help the situation . Because you love her to bits, dont you . So we know that there are associations, there are links between inhaling tobacco smoke and some cancers, particularly of the nose and the sinuses, and also questions whether it can make some breathing problems worse. And, after some good advice, amanda has breathing problems worse. And, after sor decision. Dvice, amanda has 74; 77777 breathing problems worse. And, after sor decision. No, z, amanda has . No, she is my has . Breathing problems worse. And, after sor decision. No, she is my life. . Big decision. To go from here, where are you going to go from here, do you think . No smoking indoors. Send us your thoughts on that as well, and perhaps this as well. Steph is at st pancras station for us this morning, where rail bosses are expected to make an announcement about improvements to the railways. Steph. Good morning to you, good morning everyone. There are lots of people who travel on the rail Network Every year, and who travel on the rail Network Every year, and i am sure at some point quite a lot of people have had some type of moan about it, whether it is punctuality, and last year we had the worst punctuality in more than a decade, with one in 20 trains late last year, and people complaining about things to do with the ticketing as well, and a rise in complaints last year as well. So today rail bosses are committing to what they say they are going to transform the network over the next 18 months. So how are they going to do this . They have four commitments they are making. The first is that they are making. The first is that the rail network will strengthen the economy, so rather than something that we spend loads of money on without getting lots of return, they wa nt to without getting lots of return, they want to help promote the economy and put more money into it. Another thing is to improve Customer Satisfaction. So they want to make a difference to the experience people have when they are using the rail network. And as well, they want more localised decisions to be made about the services in different areas. Because it is notjust about the National Network if you are using it, but also people who use it for shorter journeys, it, but also people who use it for shorterjourneys, for commuting. It, but also people who use it for shorter journeys, for commuting. So they want to improve that to help local economies. And finally they wa nt to local economies. And finally they want to increase the number ofjobs on the rail network and with that increase the diversity of those jobs in the rail network. And i am going to be talking to bosses a little later on about how exactly they are going to do this. We will talk to the boss of network rail, and some big commitments there. First, the news, travel and weather where you at this morning. Good morning, im asad ahmad. A missing woman from scotland, who was last seen in hamleys toy store on regents street earlier this month, has been found safe and well. While pulling down the old temperance hospital near euston station for the new hs2 train line, developers have uncovered a time capsule dating back to the 1800. The capsules were put there by some forward thinking victorians, who tell us a bit about londons obsession with alcohol, as well as some things about the hospital itself. You can find out the contents on inside out london. That is tonight at 7 30pm on bbc one. Something else you can see on the programme is this shire horses, not that common in london these days. But there is a call to start using them again, because as well as being good for the soil and certain types of plant life, they are also good for therapy. They are shown to have a positive effect on people who work with them, and even just seeing them. Shire horses are very relevant to kind of work in cities like london. There is absolutely no reason why any local council could not start looking at how they actually provide Land Management services, and could include shire horses in that. It makes include shire horses in that. It ma kes total include shire horses in that. It makes total sense. Lets have a look at the travel situation now. Minor delays on victoria line, between kings cross st pancras and walthamstow central, due to a faulty train. On the roads, traffic on the a13 is building up westbound heading out of barking into dagenham. And there are clockwise delays on the m25 heading towards heathrow, following an accident and fuel spillage on the clockwise exit slip. Lets have a check on the weather now, with kate. Good morning. It is a chilly start this morning, after a clear night. In one or two spots, mainly the rural spots, there even be a rural spots, there could even be a sparkle or two of frost. But it is bright and we have plenty of sunshine, and that autumn sunshine is going to stay with us for the day. The north westerly breeze that is very light, but it does mean that it is going to bejust a bit is very light, but it does mean that it is going to be just a bit cooler thanit it is going to be just a bit cooler than it was yesterday, with a maximum of 12 celsius. Now, for this evening it starts off clear but we will see a little bit more cloud as we had through the second part of the night. Staying predominantly dry, but there is a risk of maybe one or two spots of rain. Minimum temperature not as cold. Seven or eight celsius in towns and cities. Now, for tomorrow there is more cloud around. We pick up a south westerly breeze, and that is bringing in some slightly warmer air but also more cloud as well. Temperatures tomorrow, we are looking at 14 celsius. That is going to bea looking at 14 celsius. That is going to be a touch warmer than it is today. Absolutely, yes, though there are a number of the team who were here last night supporting Lewis Hamilton as we will see in a moment. Yes, welcome to mercedes hq in brackley. Come in, i will show you a around. As Lewis Hamilton became the most successful british driver in history after winning a fourth of those. It was far from straightforward following an early collision with Sebastian Vettel, saw him fall down the field. He worked his way up to 92 at his winnings in 2008 and 2014 and 2015, and he is on his own as far as the number 1 british driver f1 history is concerned. I was always grateful after my first, then the second came, the third came and then this, she will, how i still had his willpower to continue after a lot of the success we had, i have a bigger desire, particularly with another team and i had a difficult year last year. So i was adamant i was going to better myself mentally, physically and with myself mentally, physically and with my attitude and how i worked with eve ryo ne my attitude and how i worked with everyone so that i could put myself in the position i am in today. I spent last night here in brackley with the team supporting Lewis Hamiltons title bid. Despite being 5000 miles away from the action in mexico city the team of technicians and enging experts in these rooms were with hamilton for every twist and turn of his 71 laps. And of course, they celebrated with him when his world title and of course, they celebrated with him when his world title was confirmed. Applause it was a busy day all around in sport, though, wasnt it . In the premier league, there were new men in charge in opposing dug outs at leicester. Claude puel has only been the foxes manager for a few days but he guided his side to a 2 0 win over everton, who had caretaker David Unsworth in charge for the first time in the premier league. What we are trying to do is get loads and loads of information into the players as quickly as possible because we have a game on thursday and sunday, so the amount of time we have on the Training Ground where we can do the work that is required probably isnt there at the moment, so we need to just keep going and try to get the messages into the players. The days other match in the premier league was an all south coast affair where brighton came from behind to draw 1 1 with neighbours southampton. Glenn murray with the equaliser. In the womens super league, Manchester City women scored two atooga. Ge. time aoalsas they 5255 6 0 and arsenal beat struggling everton 2 0. One of english rugby unions biggest derbies, between bath and gloucester, was decided by the very last kick of the game. Bath were ahead as the match went into overtime, but gloucester scored a try, then Owen Williams kicked this conversion to earn his side a one point victory. In the other premiership match, leicester beat newcastle. Englands women cricketers are part way through their ashes series in australia and now the men have arrived down under ahead of the start of theirs, which gets under way next month. Much of the talk in the build up has been about the absence of all rounder ben stokes for disciplinary reasons, but captainjoe root says even without him they still have enough strength in the squad. We area we are a strong squad, weve got plenty of other all rounders and players who can come in from the squad who i desperate players who can come in from the squad who i desperate to squad who i think are desperate to prove a point and and i prove a point and step up. And i think thats the great thing prove a point and step up. And i think ti here he great thing prove a point and step up. And i think ti here in great thing prove a point and step up. And i think ti here in australia. G prove a point and step up. And i think ti here in australia. There is playing here in australia. There is a chance to earn a huge amount of respect from around the round the world if you can perform well here. So that is a great motivation and drive for everyone. Justin rose has won the world golf championships in shanghai, his first title since claiming a gold medal at the rio olympics last year. Rose shot a five under par 67 in the final round, including eight birdies to finish on 14 under. Caroline wozniacki has won the end of season world tour finals in singapore after a straight sets win over venus williams. After the dane took the first set, she stepped on the gas, cruising into a 5 0 lead, but after williams came back to win four games on the bounce, wozniacki finally got over the line, breaking williams to lift the title. Roger federer beatjuan martin del potro to win the swiss indoors and narrow the gap on world number one rafael nadal. Federer claimed an eighth crown in basel and his seventh title of 2017. Well, only one story in err rfirifgfirgl and that is well, only one story in err rfiriifirgl and that is lewis morning, and that is Lewis Hamiltons success last night, winning the fourth drivers title and the World Championship. Jack nicholls was commentating on the race last night for 5 live. It was an impressive season for Lewis Hamilton. Not the finish he would have wanted. Not quite the start or the finish. He wasnt on form in the start of the year with four or five dodgy races which meant Sebastian Vettel was leading the championship half way. The second half, he came out in superb form, flying, and he had five out of six races. All he had five out of six races. All he had to do was finish top five and we thought it would be straightforward but it wasnt. That collision through the cat among the pigeons. It was great drama. It certainly added something. Not for the f1 supporters and Lewis Hamilton himself. A lot of people say that we know he stands alone as far as british drivers concerned, will he surpassed Michael Schumachers record of seven formula one world title is . That is a tough question. He is 32 now, he needs another three titles, taking 35, he is 32 now, he needs another three titles, taking 35, if he wins titles, taking him to 35, if he wins three back to back, so i think it is a big ask for him. He put himself up in terms of the greatest overall drivers of all time. Only five in the history of formula one have won four titles or more. So he is already up there. I think seven titles is a stretch. It depends what the guys in mercedes can do. Red bull and ferrari are going to pressure them over the next couple of years. How is it going to shape up of years. How is it going to shape upfor him of years. How is it going to shape up for him next season, how easy going to go when the dust has settled . Going to go when the dust has settled . He will be stronger as a driver. As we know in f1 it is all down to the car. The guys you have done a greatjob to win the last four. It will be too close to call. Ferrari on one hand threw it away with reliability and crashes. Next year we will have three cars battling for the title and it will be even more exciting. The big debate, keeping it competitive. Many thanks for that. And i will be here all morning speaking with various members of the mercedes team, some drivers. It will be a very interesting morning. It is fair to say it will be see say it will be interesting to see the faces of those coming into say it will be interesting to see the champagne ;e coming into say it will be interesting to see the champagne corks1ing into say it will be interesting to see the champagne corks were 1to say it will be interesting to see the champagne corks were flying. I the champagne corks were flying. I am sure there are going to be some sort heads. If you cant enjoy yourself now, when can you . He didnt try to get away with sitting in the car, or are you too tall . |j knew that youre going to ask me that. I have asked. I would love to get in. I have been told i am far too tall. I dont think anyone wants too tall. I dont think anyone wants to see me can put myself into that thing. Yes we do i figured you might not be allowed. Never mind. Thank you. You have sat in one, having your . Many years ago in a williams car. It is incredibly confined and john is not the right shape. More of that later on. Its no ordinary monday morning for the Catalan Leader ca rles puigdemont. After an eventful few days, his job as president of catalonia belongs to someone else, spains deputy Prime Minister. Mr puigdemont along with his separatist government have been sacked but they claim nothing has changed, theres a chance some of them could try return to work today. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of barcelona yesterday to march against catalonian independence. I cried, i cried, this night, all they, not possible all day. I cried, i cried, this night, all they, not possible all day. We we re they, not possible all day. We were born here and we feel forgotten by the Catalan Government. Please , keep together with spain. There are some of the pro unity voices. John, good to speak to you. Ijust some of the pro unity voices. John, good to speak to you. I just want to show you an image. In a way this is the front door of the government building in barcelona. We are told that carla ca rles building in barcelona. We are told that carla Carles Puigdemont is intending to walk back as normal despite being deposed and we will speak about wider implications in a moment. This morning it is an excellent mary situation. It is, you have two rival president s in a democratic country which is prosperous, in a part of the world was probably as good quality of life as anywhere, and are now poised to see whether Carles Puigdemont insists on remaining there, despite the law and the imposition of this decree imposing direct rule on catalonia from madrid. And a lot will hinge on what happens here. A lot will hinge in particular on whether Carles Puigdemont is arrested. If he is, then the stakes become higher, the temperature rises, and the perils grove. We were hearing just at the end of the bit of film a moment ago from those people in barcelona who are happy to be part of spain. Now, we have seen huge protests on both sides of this argument. People will be thinking, you know, what is the general sentiment in barcelona right now, apart from the fact it is very chaotic . Well, the general sentiment is extraordinarily divided as you have indicated with what you have just said. Think perhaps of the divisions you find in society in britain over brexit, think of the divisions you see in the United States from the and states from the pro trump and anti trump camp, and read up a bit more with more bitterness. In catalonia are divided and friendships destroyed. Families in catalonia are divided. At a small, everyday social level, there is an awful lot of this ill feeling and ill will. It is a very ugly situation. And john, what about the practicalities of running local government, of running the area, the implications of running it from madrid rather than locally. Will things work as normal . madrid rather than locally. Will things work as normal . I dont think so, ithink things work as normal . I dont think so, i think the chances are that you will get escalating street protests. And there is always the danger of violence spiralling out of control. A broad point i would make here is i woke up this morning and saw the Spanish Press and had an overwhelming sense of the ugliness of the situation. Was ugly about is it is obviously something, to my mind, spectacularly unnecessary and also avoidable. But also this very clear you get that the government in madrid is not imposing direct rule asa madrid is not imposing direct rule as a last resort, with a feeling of regret, but that they are doing so ina sort regret, but that they are doing so in a sort of celebratory, vengeful spirit. And that is where the ugliness in this lies, and why i suspect we are sowing the seeds hear of something that is going to get a lot uglier still in the coming days and weeks. It is worth reiterating, as we are looking at that front door, and the reason we are is that i understand he usually arrives at work almost now. I think it is 7am in barcelona. This will be the statement moment, in a way, because if he turns up to work they have to deal with that situation very quickly, whether he is arrested, and what happens next. And there is one particularly interesting question, that you have the Catalan Police who have been under that control of the cata la n have been under that control of the Catalan Government, in the other words of ca rles Catalan Government, in the other words of Carles Puigdemont and his parliament, forever, since francos death, and now the Catalan Police, 7000 strong, all armed, have been told to follow the orders of madrid. Will they follow those orders . Will all of them follow those orders, or will some not . So you have a very interesting and alarming question to have answered. And q so much for your time this morning. Thank you so much for your time. We will watch very closely those developments in barcelona this morning. We can see already the barriers, i dont know if they normally have those barriers. But we have our correspondent there, and we will keep you right up to date on bbc brea kfast. Keep you right up to date on bbc breakfast. As we will with the weather, because it is chilly out and carol has all the details. Weather, because it is chilly out and carol has all the detailsm weather, because it is chilly out and carol has all the details. It is absolutely chilly, there is a widespread frost across many parts of the uk. For the week ahead we have this cold start as we move the middle of the week, although there will be increasing cloud, the temperatures will go up. Some rain but not much on the cards, and that leads us into next weekend, which will be colder and showery. To give you an idea of how cold it is, if you an idea of how cold it is, if you are just you an idea of how cold it is, if you arejust stepping you an idea of how cold it is, if you are just stepping out, you an idea of how cold it is, if you arejust stepping out, in tulloch bridge and braemar, minus five. That is the coldest we have seen since mid may. Dense and oxfordshire 2, and we have a lot of clear skies around this morning, so for most of us were off to a dry and bright start. A few showers flirting with zero north sea coastlines, and a few fronts bringing some rain. The second one a little bit livelier than the first one. Murky conditions coming in across the west of scotland. The first front moving in across the north east. In between, variable amounts of cloud and some sunshine. The same front impact in Northern Ireland from the west, introducing drizzle, the rest of Northern Ireland and Northern England seeing some sunshine. But it is colder than it was yesterday. For wales, some patchy fog around cheshire will lift quite readily, and for wales and the rest of england we are looking at a dry afternoon with some sunny skies. Still some showers in east anglia. As we head overnight, a more potent second front comes in across scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland. It will be heaviest across argyll, for example, and also the highlands. It will be a cold start to the night. We could see an early frost in the south, but as all this cloud comes in, the temperature wont be as low by the end of the night. Tomorrow we start off at end of the night. Tomorrow we start offata end of the night. Tomorrow we start off at a fairly cloudy note. More rain piling in across the highlands and western parts of scotland, moving away from Northern England. Showers coming in across Northern Ireland, and some rain and drizzle on winwood coasts as far south as wales. Windward. In the north of the country, we are going to struggle to get into double figures. Tomorrow we are easily in double figures and looking at maximums of around 13 or 14 fool s as we move from tuesday into wednesday, we have got this weather front draped across Northern Ireland, Northern England and scotland. The brightest skies will be the furthest south and east. We lose the northerly wind and this is the scenario. Again, cloudy and wet where we have that weather front. Move south of that and we are back into the sunshine. Light breezes further south and temperatures still on the respectable side, so between 13 and 15. So although it looks like the weather is fairly benign this week, the temperature is up and down like a yo yo. Last year, late train arrivals were at their worst in ten years. And later today, Rail Industry chiefs will commit to improving the service for passengers, along with a number of other measures. Steph is at st pancras for us this morning. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It is starting to get easy here, obviously. This is the station in Central London where you have the east midlands line, so a lot of people heading off to places like nottingham and sheffield. Just below, if you can see over the glass here, we have eurostar heading across to europe. They have Something Like 45 million passengers passing through here every single year. So it is certainly very busy. If you look, as charlie was saying that, at what has happened in the industry as a whole, we are still seeing that punctuality is a big problem. The number of complaints about the service is on the other, and from january, real fares are going to go up by 3. 6 . We can have a chat to paul plummer, from the rail delivery group, and big plans to bring the industry together and transform it over the next few months. What exactly is going to happen . Good morning, this really is an important moment for the railway, coming together in a landmark moment to launch a plan for change, which will secure the benefits of £85 billion in additional economic growth, enabling further investment, improvement. We have four commitments, aimed at strengthening the commitment to the economy, boosting local communities, improving Customer Satisfaction and creating morejobs. Improving Customer Satisfaction and creating more jobs. Are our trains going to improve, in terms of punctuality . Looking at the pictures from last year, one in ten trains was late, that is the worst in the decade. And nine out of ten trains arrive on time. The huge amount of investment over the last few years is continuing, and customers in communities across the country over the next two years are going to see that coming through, they will see the improvement in services, with more trains, more reliable, more punctual, more seats, better capacity, more frequency and running on time. They will also see improvements in their ticketing, said the vocation of all of that. We know as well that we need to do more and more. We know as well that we need to make the case for further investment, connecting communities right across the country. And that is what this plan is all about. Why has punctuality been getting worse . Over a long period of time it has been getting better. Last year was the worst in the decade, so that is definitely worse. The train operators are working together in a local partnership, and it is really critical to make that work with their supply chains to improve punctuality. We are also now having the most transparent punctuality information anywhere across europe. Everybody will be able to see real time actuality improvement, and thatis real time actuality improvement, and that is designed as well to help us drive further Improvement Co nsta ntly, drive further Improvement Constantly, day to day. Thousands of alien people are working on the railway to improve that punctuality. One of the things that can be quite significant for people using the rail is when the increase comes, and they are going up 3. 6 injanuary. I know that as a regulator to increase and not a figure you pluck out of the air, but for a lot of people, hearing that their ticket price is going to go up significantly, while there are significant complaints about the service as a whole and punch rally is not great. What are you going to do about it . Ourjob is to make sure that we use the money which comes from the public and customers as best we possibly can to drive economic growth, connect communities and create greatjob opportunities for people in the railway. So we are making those further improvements. We are announcing now the creation of an ombudsman which will give people greater confidence that if they make complaints. And we dont want them to be making complaints, but when they do, that they have trust in the system and they get the right response. Paul, thank you for your time. I will be chatting with the boss of network rail later on. I will leave you with a beautiful shot of the roof of st pancras station. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Its a chilly start this morning, after a clear night. In one or two spots, mainly the rural spots, there could even be a sparkle or two of frost. But its bright, and we have plenty of sunshine, and that autumn sunshine is going to stay with us for the day. The north westerly breeze there is very light, but it does mean that it is going to be just a bit cooler than it was yesterday, with a maximum of 12 celsius. Now, for this evening, it starts off clear, but we will see a little bit more cloud as we head through the second part of the night. Staying predominantly dry, but there is a risk of maybe one or two spots of rain. Minimum temperature not as cold seven or eight celsius in towns and cities. Now, for tomorrow, there is more cloud around. We pick up a south westerly breeze, and thats bringing in some slightly warmer air, but also more cloud, as well. There are showers along the north sea coast and later some of us will see their cloud thickening in the west with some rain. Ill have more details in 15 minutes. Thanks, carol. Good morning. First, our main story. The leader of the house of commons has been asked to make an urgent statement about tackling Sexual Harassment in the wake of a series of allegations of inappropriate behaviour by mps. Yesterday, theresa may said the reputation of parliament was being damaged by accusations of sexual impropriety. Our Political Correspondent ben wright is in westminster for us. So, ben, weve had several days now of these accusations and questions about just what goes of these accusations and questions aboutjust what goes on in the houses of parliament. Whats going to happen today . Thats right, charlie. It has become clear that many in westminster think that there isa many in westminster think that there is a culture of sometimes sleazy and inappropriate behaviour, which they feel needs to be tackled once and for all. So today we may well get an urgent debate in the house of commons, which is what one tory mp has asked for, it is up to the speakerjohn birkow to decide if that happens, i imagine it will go ahead. Theresa may wrote tojohn birkow to say that very clearly in her view the current procedures for people bringing complaints, for the commons and parliamentary authorities dealing with grievances, it isnt good enough and it needs to be overhauled with a mediation system put in. One of the problems is that researchers and aides are employed directly by mps, so it is difficult with a complaint to bring it because they are accountable to the mp that they work for. I think the mp that they work for. I think the demands for that to be overhauled is what we have heard today. The labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has added his voice. There is cross party corbyn has added his voice. There is cross Party Agreement that the culture of westminster is problematic and needs to be overhauled. Ben, for the moment, thank you. The Actor Kevin Spacey has apologised after he was accused of making a sexual advance on a child actor over 30 years ago. The house of cards star said he cant remember the alleged incident but said that if happened it was deeply inappropriate. James cook is in la for us this morning. Tell us what you know about this. What we know is the star trek Actor Anthony Rapp has accused kevin spacey Actor Anthony Rapp has accused kevin s pa cey of Actor Anthony Rapp has accused kevin spacey of this which happened in 1986, according to anthony rapp, a broadway star at the time, only 14 yea rs broadway star at the time, only 14 years old. He went back to a party at Kevin Spaceys house. He said kevin spacey carried him onto his bed, climbed on him and made a sexual advance. He was able to get away and he left the house. Kevin spacey put out a statement. He doesnt deny it. He says he doesnt remember it. I honestly do not remember it. I honestly do not remember the encounter, which is as obviously would have been a long time ago. If he did behave like that, i owe him a sincere apology for what he describes as deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour and he is sorry too for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years. He goes on in the statement to say that he knows there are other stories out there about him, kevin spacey says that about himself, and in a statement he also comes out as gay, he says he has had relationships with men and women and is living as a gay man. That has provoked something of a backlash from some people in hollywood who said why is he conflating these two things. People say he is almost suggesting this is an excuse for predatory Sexual Behaviour against a child. So it isjust the predatory Sexual Behaviour against a child. So it is just the latest to speu child. So it is just the latest to spell out from the allegations against Harvey Weinstein, and hollywood remains convulsed by controversy. James, thank you very much. Lewis hamilton has said hes excited for the future, after becoming britains most successful formula one driver. The 32 year old secured his fourth world title yesterday at the Mexican Grand Prix, but he still has some way to go to eclipse the seven titles won by Germanys Michael Schumacher, as Jessica Parker reports. Pressure . Hes used to it. Drama . He provided it. Here, an early collision between hamilton and title rival Sebastian Vettel. Ive got a flat tyre. Saw both drivers in need of emergency repairs. Carol will be here with the weather in around five minutes. Back to our main story now. Theresa may has suggested there should be new Disciplinary Procedures designed to protect mps, or those working for them, from Sexual Harassment. She says the Current System lacks teeth and has asked the leader of the house of commons to make an urgent speech about it later today. Katie perrier was the director of communications for the Prime Minister until earlier this year. She joins us now from westminster. Morning to you, thank you very much for joining morning to you, thank you very much forjoining us. Youve got personal experience and many Years Experience and many Years Experience of working in and around parliament, what do you make of these accusations that are happening now, and how widespread could the these accusations that are happening now, and how widesj all it applies |e problem be . First of all it applies to all parties, the lib dems, labour, and the conservatives, and we have to distinguish between the two. We have long working hours away from families where mps have affairs. That is either with each other or with staff, and they should be separate with consenting adults, very separate from some of the behaviour we are now learning about the predatory behaviour where Vulnerable Women and men can be put at risk in this environment. What it does show is we have antiquated systems of hr in westminster and we need to bring it into the real world. The Prime Minister is right to speak to john world. The Prime Minister is right to speak tojohn bercow, the speaker of the house of commons, about this, and we need to bring forward a body that has teeth that people can go to if they are experiencing this behaviour. One other thing that happens is researchers are directly employed by mps themselves do you think it makes people concerned, it doesnt give them somewhere to go if they are making a complaint. That is exactly right. If you are a special adviser, like i was, you are not told about go three if told about procedure to go three if you want to take out a complaint against anyone. Through. These young people, it may be their first job in politics, they have been desperate to get it, they may have applied among 400 people to get the job, they get the job and they find the mp has wandering hands, says inappropriate things and they feel slightly threatened or frightened of them. Where can you go to complain . Who can you speak to . At the moment it is not clear at all. No wonder really has teeth. There is no body that can slap down an mp and said that can slap down an mp and said that behaviour is no longer acceptable. You said, where can you 90, acceptable. You said, where can you go, is it simply there is nowhere to 90, go, is it simply there is nowhere to go, or are they not being listened to . There is nowhere to go. There have been bodies set up, but they dont have teeth, there is no contractual obligations for someone to turn around to an mp and say you will be punished for your behaviour. And of course behaviour in Political Parties itself, some of it is kept away from the Prime Minister, it is held by the whips, which they used to make sure that mps know that other people in the party know exactly what they are up to, and other people in the party know exactly what ti is are up to, and other people in the party know exactly what ti is either to, and other people in the party know exactly what ti is either not and that behaviour is either not a cce pta ble that behaviour is either not acceptable or indeed will be used against them. You will vote in a certain way or we will tell your wife or do you have been up to. It doesnt mean the Prime Minister knows about it. It is starting to emerge that go on, but this predatory behaviour, where Vulnerable People are affected, it is hitting the tipping point, like we saw in hollywood, on tv, in banking, this is when people will speak out. Like we have seen hollywood, with Harvey Weinstein, should they be suspended or sacked . We wa nt should they be suspended or sacked . We want to make sure that rumours can stand up, so if anyone feels that they felt in that vulnerable position, they should speak to the police, they should speak to authorities, because if anyone is found guilty than absolutely they should be fired. I want to go back to something about the whips, using information to make people vote, thatis information to make people vote, that is quite an accusation, have you got evidence that . It has happened over the years, you got evidence that . It has hap; have over the years, you got evidence that . It has hap; have a fer the years, you got evidence that . It has hap; have a little e years, you got evidence that . It has hap; have a little blacks, you got evidence that . It has hap; have a little black book, they they have a little black book, they keep it to the side, they write down anybodys indiscretion, that is well known in the dark arts of politics. But of course when you are on the frontline, as i was, you didnt find out much about what people got up to other than something that was more well known, maybe an mp is having an affair with another mp, but if you are waking up in westminster and you have left your wife at home and you wont go back all week, a lot of people are going to be quite worried, because it is notjust the over behaviour, it is the kind of behaviour that is now acceptable, the commenting on what women wear, the commenting on what women wear, the kind of behaviour in the office, it is not acceptable and now is the time when people will start to act. On the point about time, michael gove has apologised aboutjoke about Harvey Weinstein on the today programme. Whats your reaction to what he said . It is inappropriate and it wasnt funny. He recognised it and he apologised quite quickly. And in this big mix right now everybody has been dumped into the same mix, so people who have had affairs, people who are predatory and have bad sexual affairs, people who are predatory and ha\ others, rxual affairs, people who are predatory and ha\ others, and. Affairs, people who are predatory and ha\ others, and people who make against others, and people who make ridiculous jokes, against others, and people who make ridiculousjokes, and against others, and people who make ridiculous jokes, and you against others, and people who make ridiculousjokes, and you need against others, and people who make ridiculousjoke out, i you need against others, and people who make ridiculousjoke out, there 1eed against others, and people who make ridiculousjoke out, there is ed against others, and people who make ridiculousjoke out, there is ai against others, and people who make ridiculousjoke out, there is a lot separate them out, there is a lot worse behaviour that we need to tackle. He has apologised and we need to move on. Give us your point of view, you are a mum, you have sons, tell us about the environment, and you have alluded to it already. I worry, it is myjob as a mother to bring them up so that they know what is acceptable and what is not, and i worry about an environment where you cannot say anything without being taken the wrong way. We need to be clear what is and isnt acceptable and we need to call it out and said, that isnt acceptable in the workplace, without taking it all the way to the hr procedure, which should be for the stuff that really makes a difference, which is harassment, Vulnerable People put at risk, and the environment where men at westminster, 60 years old and they wonder why at 23 year old may be interested in them. Get real, thatis be interested in them. Get real, that is an abuse of power and we need to understand what is acceptable. It is a fine line and as acceptable. It is a fine line and as a mother of two boys i have to be aware of it. Thank you for your time on breakfast this morning. Lets take a look at the weather, with carol. A lot of people are waking up this morning still getting used to the notion is a lot lighter, and a bit nippy. That is absolutely right. Good morning to you both. It is a cold start to the day. Temperatures fell to 5 in tulloch bridge and braemar, 4. 4. It is notjust in scotla nd braemar, 4. 4. It is notjust in scotland where it is cold, but wherever you are and we have a widespread frost. It is also a bright start to the day. As we go through the middle of the week we will see increasing amounts of cloud. There will be some rain around, mostly in the north and the west. And then, as we head back into next weekend, it looks like it is going to turn colder again and we will see some showers. This morning it is cold and frosty, there is a lot of sunshine. A few showers down these north sea coastlines, and showers moving from west to east. The second weather front will be a little bit more potent, bringing in murky conditions across western scotland. There goes the first one, and cold. If you think on saturday in aberdeenshire at was 17 celsius, todayit in aberdeenshire at was 17 celsius, today it is nothing like that. For Northern Ireland, you will also be affected in the west by the same weather front, affected in the west by the same weatherfront, introducing thicker cloud and drizzle. The rest of Northern Ireland and Northern England, a cold afternoon and some sunshine. Early mist and fog across wales and cheshire will readily lift and then for wales and western england, a fine day but hanging on to some of those showers in east anglia in the afternoon. Through the evening and overnight we lose the first weather front. The second one moves first weather front. The second one m oves a cross first weather front. The second one moves across scotland and Northern England, and some of that rain will be heavy, especially in the West Highlands. Moving south of that, the cloud is building in from the west, but until it does, in the far south east you could see an early frost and then in comes the cloud and the temperatures will not be as low at the end of the night as they will be at the beginning, as a result. Tomorrow, the rain still falling across scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, some of them heavy, around argyll bute, for example. And from wales northwards we are looking at some cloud and drizzle. Write a sky is the further south and east you do travel. One of the things you will notice tomorrow is the temperature is back up again. Brighter skies. Today, we are easily getting into them, tomorrow temperatures up a few degrees on what we will see today. As we head from tuesday into wednesday, a weather front draped across us will be producing rain at times across Northern Ireland, scotland and also Northern England. It is raining, so you see that rain moving southwards and northwards, that there will be a fair bit of cloud and temperatures still on the heavy side. Moving south into england and wales, brighter skies away from the west. 15 celsius, we wont know ourselves by then. Very cold and the. Thank you. Cold indeed. We all know the dangers that passive smoking poses to our friends and family, but what about the risk to household pets . For the first time, veterinary groups and the Royal College of nursing are working together to raise awareness about the damage ricky boleto reports. Go on, millie. Lets go in. Millie is a Chihuahua Jack russell cross, full of energy most of the time, and doesnt mind the camera. Amanda cook adopted her two years ago. She is one in a million of a dog. She is one in a million of a dog. She is one in a million of a dog. She is my baby. For most of amandas adult life, she has smoked cigarettes, unsure of the potential damage it might be having on millies health. When the children come, the grandchildren, i dont smoke. Im happy to smoke when theyre not here, just me and millie. Ive always done it, never really thought that it would harm a pet. While experts say, just like humans, pets are at risk of second hand smoke. They often spend more time indoors, close to their owners, where they can breathe it in. Campaigners say smoking around cats and dogs can increase their risk of developing cancers. Smaller pets, like rabbits and guinea pigs, may be prone to eye and skin disease. Thats better, isnt it . Back to millie. To find out more, a sample of her fur is being analysed by scientists in this lab. Weve seen the results back from the lab, and i understand the nicotine on her hair levels are high. Theyre about 70 times higher than some comparison hairs from another dog in a non smoking household. And, after some good advice, amanda has made a big decision. No, she is my life. Where are you going to go from here, do you think . No smoking indoors. Watching that report with us was Wendy Preston from the Royal College of nursing. Good morning to you. And lots of people who have pets, who might also smoke as well. And this is the first time you have really looked at this, isnt it . Time you have really looked at this, isnt it . It is, yes. What we have done is get a group of people together from human health done is get a group of people togetherfrom human health and animal health, and we have been looking at what are the effects to pets, and how can we Work Together asa pets, and how can we Work Together as a group of organisations pets, and how can we Work Together as a gr the of organisations pets, and how can we Work Together as a gr the profile nisations pets, and how can we Work Together as a gr the profile and ions pets, and how can we Work Together as a gr the profile and to 1s pets, and how can we Work Together as a gr the profile and to start pets, and how can we Work Together as a gr the profile i instinctively, sharing resources. Instinctively, hearing the story, a lot of people will think well, of course. If are affected why smoking, as we now know that they are, why wouldnt an animal also be affected . That they are, why wouldnt an animal also be affected . Well, when you think about it makes perfect sense that the effects for pets would be very similar to humans. But now we have got some research. So the university of glasgow have carried out this research where they have looked at the amount of particles on cat and dog fur, and then when you look at that evidence, then when you look at that evidence, then you can start thinking about, well, how will that affect pets, but also, how will that affect for example children or this ladys grandchildren . If they cuddle the pets, that will increase their risk of second hand and thirdhand smoking. And are you looking at whether or not these animals, for example, go on to get certain types of cancer, for example . Well, this is Ongoing Research that the university of glasgow are continuing. These are very early results, but they do show that there isa results, but they do show that there is a risk of harm to also, is a risk of harm to pets, and also, it has been very unpleasant to be around smoke. The evidence shows that it can affect their sinuses, as well as increasing the risk of cancer. And as i understand it, routinely, postmortems are not done on pets, for obvious reasons of cost, or whatever. Is that part of the reason why there has not been that much information thus far . Absolutely. They dont have death certificates and they dont have postmortems, so that makes it difficult to get on peoples sort of radar. But this piece of evidence, and we have collected lots of different pieces of evidence, and we feel it is time now to get this into peoples knowledge, so that people can talk about it, and then they can make an informed choice about whether they continue smoking, or whether they continue smoking, or whether they continue smoking, or whether they might want to do some Harm Reduction like smoking away from the pets, or, which would be preferable, to have some stop smoking advice. And do you know if there are any pets which can be particular vulnerable, or is it all pretty much the same . What the evidence shows is that smaller animals have a higher risk. Evidence shows is that smaller anima make a higher risk. Evidence shows is that smaller anima make sense, er risk. Evidence shows is that smaller anima make sense, because they have would make sense, because they have smaller bodies and they are going to have a higher concentration. And we know children are more at risk from second hand smoking. Know children are more at risk from secondhand smoking. Very interesting talking to you. Thank you very much. Steph is at st pancras station for us this morning, where rail bosses are expected to make an announcement about improvements to the railways. Steph. Yes, good morning. And that is millions of people, who use the railway every year. In this station alone, in saint pancreas in Central London, 45 million passengers passed through here. So you have the eurostar, off to places like russells and paris, and behind me the east Midlands Train Service going up to the likes of sheffield and nottingham. This is the launch ofa and nottingham. This is the launch of a strategy which they say will transform the Railway Network over the next 18 months. And there are four elements to this, in terms of what they want to do. The first is they want to use the railway to of strengthen the economy. Because of course, in the past there has been a lot of muggy spent on the railway, but lots of people feeling that they havent had any return on that investment. So they want to strengthen the economy using the Railway Network. They also want to improve Customer Satisfaction. If you look at the figures from last year about punctuality, it was the worst in a decade. One in ten trains arriving late last year, so that is not great. They want to work on Customer Satisfaction. Also their they want to look at improving the involvement of local community. And finally, as well, they want to increase the number of jobs finally, as well, they want to increase the number ofjobs in this industry, and have more diversity around them as well. So that is their 4 point strategy, which they say, in their words, will transform this Railway Network, the uk Railway Network, over the next four months. I will talk about how they are going to do it, given that the number of complaints with customers is still not great and we still see fares go up. They are going up injanuary by 4. 6 . 3. 6 . Lets up. They are going up injanuary by 4. 6 . 3. 6 . Lets get the news, travel and weather where you are this morning. Good morning from bbc london news. How director said if she had seen it she might have thought it was a shark. How director. Lets have a look at the travel situation now. Good service on the tube. On the roads, traffic on the a13 is building up westbound heading out of barking into dagenham. And there are clockwise delays on the m25, heading towards heathrow, following an accident and fuel spillage on the clockwise exit slip. Lets have a check on the weather now, with kate. Good morning. Its a chilly start this morning, after a clear night. In one or two spots, mainly the rural spots, there could even be a sparkle or two of frost. But its bright, and we have plenty of sunshine, and that autumn sunshine is going to stay with us for the day. A north westerly breeze that is very light, but it does mean that it is going to be just a bit cooler than it was yesterday, with a maximum of 12 celsius. Now, for this evening, it starts off clear, but we will see a little bit more cloud as we head through the second part of the night. Staying predominantly dry, but there is the risk of maybe one or two spots of rain. Minimum temperature not as cold seven or eight celsius in towns and cities. Now, for tomorrow, there is more cloud around. We pick up a south westerly breeze, and thats bringing in some slightly warmer air, but also more cloud, as well. The temperature tomorrow were looking at 14 celsius. That is going to be a touch warmer than it is today. Now, as we head through the rest of the week, gradually the temperatures drop off. Night time, yes, theres a lot of cloud. Temperatures stay around eight or nine celsius. Let va nessa Vanessa Feltz is on bbc radio london with her breakfast show. Youre not really told about the procedure you can go three if you wa nt to ta ke procedure you can go three if you want to take out a complaint against anyone, so these young people, especially some who might be in their first job especially some who might be in theirfirstjob in politics, they we re theirfirstjob in politics, they were desperate to get it, they may have applied among 400 people to get thejob, they get have applied among 400 people to get the job, they get the job and they find this mp has wandering hands, says inappropriate things and they feel slightly frightened or threatened by them. Where can you go to make a complaint who can you speak to . It is not clear at the moment. No one really has teeth. There is nobody that can slap the mp down and say that behaviour is no longer acceptable. Lewis hamilton has become the most successful british formula one driver of all time, by winning his fourth championship at the Mexican Grand Prix. He recovered from a collision on the first lap to finish in ninth place, but his rival Sebastian Vettel could manage only fourth. The animal, which is twice the size of a domestic cat, escaped from borth wild Animal Kingdom, near aberystwyth. We can speak with gareth kross, who is searching for the animal. Good morning. Thank you for your time. Can you just tell us what the search consists of, what you and your team are up to . Good morning to you. Yes, we are working with borth to put plans in place to search for the animal in the local area and to try to put together some sort of plan to try to capture it. What sort of clues have you got so far about what may have happened or where it may be . We believe that the lynx may be close by to the wild Animal Kingdom in borth and from the information we have so far. Why do you think it hasnt gone further, because we understand they are capable of travelling long distances every day . From what the park has led us to believe, this animal was born and bred in captivity, and we believe it could have been seen nearby to the park last night, so the working theory is that this is the place it knows it can get food, so it is likely to stay in the area. What have you told people size wise it is twice the size of a domestic cat, it isa is twice the size of a domestic cat, it is a large animal, what have you told people in terms of looking out for it . At the moment we are stressing that there is not a general danger to the public. Obviously unless someone approaches or tries to trap the lynx itself, though we dont expect that, it is a solitary animal. At this stage, i assume you havent had any sightings so far . We believe it may have been seen soon after it was reported yesterday evening by police units and staff, but that was obviously quite soon after the matter was reported yesterday, so we are still exploring the sighting to see whether that has been confirmed or not. Presumably, you are urging people in and around the area to keep eyes open and let you know if they see anything . Certainly the message we are putting out is not to panic, to remain vigilant and alert in the area and if anyone sees it they need to call 101, and if the animal is injured or has taken another animal we would urge people to call 999. Thank you very much for your time this morning. Leading the investigation, looking for the lynx which has escaped from a wildlife park, twice the size of a domestic cat. It was brought up in captivity, so it needs to get back to where it was safe, so good luck finding that. Lots of you getting in touch, thank you, about the return of blue planet, thank you for telling arsenal favourite moment. Stewart saidi arsenal favourite moment. Stewart said i love to see when the mother was comforting the baby walrus on the iceberg. It was quite dramatic, wasnt it . This was my favourite, absolutely wonderful pictures of the surfing dolphins nominated by chris, who calls it jawdropping surfing dolphins nominated by chris, who calls itjawdropping gorgeous, absolutely fantastic. Wonderful to watch. I think i have to go and what it all over again. I rather liked. What you like . Percy, the little fish. Was it a clownfish . It picked ata fish. Was it a clownfish . It picked at a clan and for the first time they filmed it cracking open a clam ona they filmed it cracking open a clam on a rock. Thank you so much for getting in touch. We will talk about it later on in the week as well. Lets talk about Lewis Hamilton, extraordinary achievement last night. He may have only come ninth in the Mexican Grand Prix but Lewis Hamilton is now the most successful british f1 driver of all time. John is in brackley, at the mercedes ho, where i imagine there would have been a bit of celebrating going on last night . And you can show us around a bit. Good morning. Yes, i am in the heart of mercedes hq in brackley, the nuts and bolts of the operation, and i can tell you on these steps later, tea m can tell you on these steps later, Team Management will address the tea m Team Management will address the team and more champagne will be had here, sprayed over various members of the team, and this is where Lewis Hamilton will address the team when he returns after success last night after winning the fourth world title. We are in the heart of the operation at the moment. Lewis hamilton, what a moment. Further down the corridor is where the new carfor down the corridor is where the new car for next season is being worked on. It is such a top secret operation at the moment. When we came in last night, our camera phones had to be covered with a sticker so that we didnt give away sensitive or secret information. Inside at the moment there are two bays, this is where bottas and hamiltons car will be worked on through the season. It is immaculate. Is this what bill your garage looks like . I liken it toa your garage looks like . I liken it to a nasa launch station, the closest thing you can get to, because as we know it is so high tech and technical. This is the title of course which lewis won. It started at a young age, remember the success that he had in carting as a young boy and his dad was so instrumental in the early stages of his career. He had Great Success in carting, paving the way to joining mclaren and then of course mercedes where he has won three world titles with mercedes following the first success in 2008. What drama it was, though, last night, if youre watching the race. All he had to do was finished fifth, although there was a collision with championship rival Sebastian Vettel. He fought back to finish ninth and follow u p he fought back to finish ninth and follow up on the three titles he has won previously. Now he is out on his own among british drivers with former world titles, surpassing sir jackie stewart, who was full of admiration. His first World Championship was almost a premature one but he has learned so much and he has developed so well into driving for a team that is almost unbeatable. And i spent some time last night here with the mercedes team, who we re here with the mercedes team, who were supporting hamiltons title bid upstairs. They are linked in with the crew. They can communicate with them. And after he got over the line, despite being 5000 miles away the technicians and experts were celebrating after the gruelling 71 laps, sharing every twist and turn with Lewis Hamilton. And it was duly celebrated as well as the world title was confirmed. Applause. Yes, so, special moment for Lewis Hamilton. We will talk more in a moment. Lets bring you the rest of yesterdays sporting action, shall we . In the premier league, there were new men in charge in opposing dug outs at leicester. Claude puel has only been the foxes manager for a few days but he guided his side to a 2 0 win over everton, in the premier league. What we are trying to do is get loads and loads of information into the players as quickly as possible, because we have a game on thursday and sunday, so the amount of time we have on the Training Ground where we can do the work that is required probably isnt there at the moment, so we need to just keep going and try to get the messages into the players. The days other match in the premier league was an all south coast affair where brighton came from behind to draw 1 1 with neighbours southampton. Glenn murray with the equaliser. In the womens super league, Manchester City women scored two stoppage time goals as they came from a goal down to beat Birmingham City ladies 3 1. Elsewhere chelsea ladies stay top of the table after they beat yeovil 6 0 and arsenal beat struggling everton 2 0. There is really only one story in town, the success of Lewis Hamilton, the most successful british driver in formula one history and it is not often you can get your hands on one often you can get your hands on one of these. I quite fancy it. There is no champagne in there at the moment. It was all had last night. It doesnt smell very sweet. That is what its all about. Doesnt smell very sweet. That is what its all about. Thank you very much. We will be back with you later. Thank you. A leading Cancer Charity has appointed a digital nurse to combat fake news, as its concerned that patients are increasingly left to search for information about their diagnosis online. Macmillan Cancer Support is concerned patients turn to unverified sites, which in turn leaves them open to bogus cures. Kerry fleming, whose son kane had Thyroid Cancer, and jane maher, who is macmillans chief medical officer, join us now. Good morning both, thank you forjoining us. Such a difficult thing to go through, for your son, for you is apparent. When you first knew he was ill, all of us might do it, it is easy, isnt it, to turn to the internet and think i want to find out about this. Is that what you did . It was more after his diagnosis that i did that, because we didnt get his diagnosis until after he had had his. But that is the first thing idid. It had his. But that is the first thing i did. It was i was left wondering and had no clue, i had a million questions to answer, and no one to a nswer questions to answer, and no one to answer them for me. I did what anyone would do, and went on to google, and saw what the Search Engines brought up. There were so many contradictory, different engines brought up. There were so many contradici had different engines brought up. There were so many contradici had no ferent engines brought up. There were so many contradici had no idea it engines brought up. There were so many contradici had no idea what i websites, ijust had no idea what i was reading. What was true, or was reading or what was true, or anything. Yes, we have all done it, havent we it could be something serious or something minor. How will this work in practice, the idea of a digital nurse . I think as oncologist we recognise that you go on the internet if you have a problem, and cancer is no different. There are a lot of very good websites, very Good Charities with lots of good information, but you can easily be led along to other sites which are much less reliable. So the way the thing works is that we will have a digital nurse online who will be able to answer questions online, or in social media, really to give some guidance as to how to get the best out of the internet, and which site to avoid and which site to use. And she is backed up a team of online experts, and by some super users. So talk us through how it would work. So kerry is in that situation, talk us through how it would work. So ki would n that situation, talk us through how it would work. So ki would some situation, talk us through how it would work. So kl would some of uation, talk us through how it would work. So kyt of those questioned was is talk us through how it would work. So kyt of those questioned earlier nature of those questioned earlier on . I needed the information about his diagnosis, because all the information was aimed for adults, and there was no information regarding children. So the question might have been how is this particular cancerfor a might have been how is this particular cancer for a child. How would a digital nurse deal with the specifics . Every case is so different. Yes, and i think that is a very important point. One thing we have learned is thatjust formulating the questions, writing them down, people have found very helpful. So the very act of formulating what your question is to a person is very helpful. And very often that nurse will be able to tell you what is known and what is not known, and that is very helpful as well. Even when they dont know the specific answer to a detailed question, they will be able to tell you that, and that is an important thing. They then go to other experts we have connection with, and can come back to you a couple of days later with some more information. It is formulating your question, it is actually finding out what is known and what is not known, what are the reliable sites and the unreliable sites, and also having extra information you can get afterwards. That can be really important when you have just been diagnosed with cancer. And i am wondering what your main concerns are, because information is useful. Is it people finding fake cures, or. Well, we know that there are a whole load of things online, that super foods will cu re things online, that super foods will cure cancer, that i covenant of soda will cure cancer, that dangerous. And the answer to those questions . The answer to those questions is no. There is no Current Evidence that any nutrition can slow down or cure cancer, but it is helpful to have a healthy lifestyle. And chemotherapy, you had better answer those questions, otherwise people will be. For some cancers, chemotherapy will make an enormous difference between cure and not cure. And your son is 14 now, how is he . He has been given the all clear from the undergoing Thyroid Cancer at is undergoing scrutiny at the moment for a gene mutation which makes him vulnerable to other cancers. And i presume the questions change, still lots of questions. Threw i am still left in a position where if this result comes back positive i will be left in the same position as i was before. At where it is different between this time and last time, i didnt have anybody to go to, or anyone to ask. Now i have somebody who can at least point me in the right direction, if they cant a nswer right direction, if they cant answer the questions i have. Well, we wish you well. Thank you very much indeed. You are watching breakfast from bbc news. Here is carol with a look at this mornings weather. Good morning. It is a cold start to the day. Last night, temperatures in tulloch bridge, near fort william, fell to minus five celsius. The last time we saw something at that level was on the ninth of may, but even further south, with temperatures below freezing, minus three in a benson, for example. There is a widespread frost first thing this morning. As we head through the middle of the week we will see more cloud, but it is going to turn milder. Not much rain in the forecasts, apart from the north and the west, especially the west of scotland. As we head into next weekend it will turn colder again, with some showers. This morning we have a few showers peppering the north sea coastline, a lot of dry weather and a fair bit of sunshine first thing, some cloud and some spots of rain, the second front coming in across Northern Ireland and western scotland this afternoon, introducing more cloud and some rain and drizzle. Ahead of it will also be some sunshine. For eastern parts of Northern Ireland, for eastern and southern parts of scotland, we the sunshine but it is going to feel cold. On saturday, 17 celsius in aberdeenshire, today we are looking at 28. For Northern England, a cold but a bright day, with lengthy sunny spells. We will hang on the clouds in east anglia. The midlands towards the isle of wight, the channel islands, down in the south west england, again a lot of bright sunshine england, again a lot of bright sunshine through weather. A lot of sunshine through the day at the same for wales. Weather. A lot of sunshine through the day at the sam itior wales. Weather. A lot of sunshine through the day at the sam it is wales. Weather. A lot of sunshine through the day at the sam it is going ;. Weather. A lot of sunshine through the day at the sam it is going to wherever you are, it is going to feel colder than it did yesterday. Now, through this evening and overnight, the first front moves through and the second one is coming our way, producing heavy rain across western scotland. As the front crossed us, they will introduce more cloud in england and wales. The first half of the night temperatures will be lower in the south. We could see an early frost and in the Cloud Cover Co m es see an early frost and in the Cloud Cover Comes over. A cloudy start to the day tomorrow, with our weather front again continuing its journey, moving eastwards. More rain across the western highlands. On the hills you are starting to see some large rainfall totals accumulated. And anywhere from west wales northwards we are looking at some drizzle and also some showers. So the brightest conditions will be the furthest south and east that you travel. If you remember the temperatures in the north of the country today not even getting into double figures, tomorrow we are looking at 12 to 14 celsius. And then, as we move from tuesday into wednesday we have this wiggling weather front producing some rain further south. It will stay largely dry further south. The rain in the more cloud, rain in the north, a bit more cloud, here it is breezy and further south will be dry and bright with some sunshine, and by then temperatures up sunshine, and by then temperatures up to 15 celsius. Above average for this stage of the year. Topsyturvy as your ears. And wednesday will be november, wont it . A really good temperature for november. Rail chiefs are meeting today to try and improve Train Services for passengers. Steph is at st pancras this morning to find out what they are suggesting. Steph. Good morning to you. Health and safety have made sure we dont cause any chaos on the staircase. It is so busy this morning, they have Something Like 45 million passengers who use this station every single year. And of course you have the eu rostar year. And of course you have the eurostar trains and the east midlands servers as well, lots of people coming up and having a chat with me this morning about their thoughts on the trains, and this morning the announcement about plans to try and transform the industry over the next 18 months. We can talk to mark. You have a four point plan, essentially. The first point is to try and strengthen the economy. What does it mean in reality . Britains rail is vital to the economy. We think we add £13 billion to the economy every year in wider economic impact. I think of the railways as the economic arteries of our country. So by upgrading those railways we can carry more freight and passengers, and that will be of huge economic benefit. And second on the list as Customer Satisfaction. That is the thing that really gets people going. Last year we saw the worst punctuality in ten years, the number of complaints is still increasing and at the same time you have rail fares increasing and at the same time you have railfares going up. What are you actually going to do about that . You are absolutely right, punctuality has been declining because the number of passengers has been growing. We are the Fastest Growing railway in europe, which is something to be really proud of. Of course we have to invest now to provide a better service, and that investment takes years. It takes yea Rs Investment takes years. It takes years to plan and years to deliver. But the really exciting thing is we are in the home straight and a lot of those projects are coming to fruition in the next months. Is it going to get better . It has been declining, and you are in the middle of this plan and it is exciting times, but people are not getting punctual trains. We have 5700 new trains coming, smart trains with wifi, trains coming, smart trains with wi fi, electric trains, it will really change the Passenger Experience over the next 18 months, i think, as these new Services Come in. Do you think we can see a day where we dont have overcrowded trains, which are late . We are a lwa ys trains, which are late . We are always going to have some crowded trains, im afraid, because theyre incredibly popular and people prefer to travel by train than in congested motorways and cars, because they can sit and work and do other things on trains. I cant sit and work, people come up to me and say i havent got a seat again. In the next 18 months we will see a 30 increase in the number of commuter Seats Available to passengers in london and manchester, and a 20 increase in capacity on the railway as a whole. It isa capacity on the railway as a whole. It is a huge change, and it is coming very quickly. Looking at your other points in this strategy, it is about localisation as well, about improving the local community, the links with them, and increasing the number ofjobs. Links with them, and increasing the number of jobs. Tell us about links with them, and increasing the number ofjobs. Tell us about that. Well, railways are vital to local communities. They help boost the economy, create jobs, and communities. They help boost the economy, createjobs, and create is as opportunities. So the more we can plan railway improvements, with the involvement of local communities, the better. That is why within network rail we are devolving power down regional route businesses and working ever closer with the train operating companies, focusing on what passengers really want and what local communities really want. And of course, the railway industry, to your fourth and final point, is about the fantastic staff who work in our railway, the committed people, night and day, who are keeping the railway running. And we wa nt to keeping the railway running. And we want to boost opportunities for those people, run a modern, hi tech railway, with highly skilled jobs for people. And make it more diverse. And make it more diverse, absolutely. That is a critical challenge for us, because the railway historically has not been a diverse society, and we are going to change that. Thank you very much for your time this morning. We will be talking to someone from the campaign for better transport later on about the customer concerns about this. I leave you with a lovely view of st pancras this morning. And it is something people feel so passionate about. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Iamat i am at the mercedes factory in brackley, where they are putting the mark of a champion on their hq this morning. Good morning from st pancras station, where railway bosses are planning to transform the network over the next 18 months, they have a strategy to do it, so i am going to be looking at what it actually involves. I have always done it. Never really thought that it would harm a pad. Well find out about the risks that passive smoking can pose to your pets. And carol has the weather. Good morning. A cold and frosty start to the day today, but for many dry and bright with lengthy sunny spells. A few showers down the north sea coastline, and later across parts of the west the cloud will thicken and some of us will see rain. More details on all of that in 15 minutes. Good morning. First, our main story. The Actor Kevin Spacey has apologised after he was accused of making a sexual advance on a child actor more than 30 years ago. The house of cards star said he cant remember the alleged incident but said that if it happened, it was deeply inappropriate. Earlier, we spoke to our north america correspondent james cook. What we know is that the star trek Actor Anthony Rapp has accused kevin spacey Actor Anthony Rapp has accused kevin s pa cey of Actor Anthony Rapp has accused kevin spacey of this, which happened in 1986, according to mr rapp, who was a broadway star at the time, only 14 yea rs a broadway star at the time, only 14 years old. He went to a party and Kevin Spaceys house, he says kevin spacey carried him onto his bed, climbed on top of him and made a sexual advance. He said he was able to leave. Kevin spacey does not deny it but says he does not from it. Lets look at part of the statement, i honestly do not come under the encounter, which would have been a long time ago, but if you did behave like that, i owe him the sincerest apology for what he describes as deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour, and he is sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years. Now commonly goes on in the statement to say that he knows there are other stories out there about him, kevin spacey stories out there about him, kevin s pa cey says stories out there about him, kevin spacey says that about himself, and he also comes out as gay, saying that he has had relationships with men and women but is now living as a 93v men and women but is now living as a gay man. That has provoked something ofa gay man. That has provoked something of a backlash from some people here in hollywood, who say, why is he conflating these two things . People are saying he is almost adjusting that this is an excuse for predatory Sexual Behaviour against a child. So it is the latest, just the latest to speu it is the latest, just the latest to spell out from the allegations against Harvey Weinstein, hollywood remains convulsed by controversy. James cook reporting there. Making so many of the front pages today, over the weekend, tell us about procedure and what they are looking at. It is clear, over the last few days, that many in westminster are concerned about what they see as a culture of sleazy, inappropriate behaviour that lingers here, and they want something done about it. The papers, as you say, once again full of speculation and suggestion about what is going on, not very much that is factual, hardly any mps have actually been named, but clearly a problem that they feel needs to be tackled. Today we expect there to be an emergency debate in the house of commons, a tory mp has asked for it, it is up to be speaker to the side of it will happen. It follows a letter that he received from theresa may over the weekend urging him to look at all the procedures for complaints when people say there is a Sexual Harassment issue that needs to be dealt with, because there is a feeling that there is an out of date, unsatisfactory complaints procedure in place in westminster, andi procedure in place in westminster, and i think that is going to be overhauled. Theresa may has asked john bercow to do that, they view echoed byJeremy Corbyn, so there is cross party echoed byJeremy Corbyn, so there is Cross Party Consensus that this needs to be looked at. It is not clear whether the issue will snowball in the next few days, whether names will be put out into the public arena, whether there will be more allegations made, but clearly the culture in westminster is under very close scrutiny at the moment. Thank you very much. Lewis hamilton has become the most successful british formula one driver of all time, after winning his fourth world title at the Mexican Grand Prix. He recovered from a collision on the first lap to finish in ninth place, but rival Sebastian Vettel could manage only fourth. The 32 year old briton has some way to go to eclipse the seven titles won by Germanys Michael Schumacher, as Jessica Parker reports. Pressure . Hes used to it. Drama . He provided it. Here, an early collision between hamilton and title rival Sebastian Vettel. Ive got a flat tyre. Saw both drivers in need of emergency repairs. He hit me deliberately. Not sure, lewis. But both battled back. Vettel finishing fourth, hamilton ninth, not where the brit wanted to be, but enough to clinch the title. Id like to say a big thanks to everyone in this team, so grateful for your hard work. God bless you. The Mexican Grand Prix, the latest instalment on a stellarjourney from Humble Beginnings to a global superstar. Here, a young hamilton shows his talent on blue peter. You must be good at it. Is it easy to do . No. But he made it look easy. Formula ones first black driver, now britains most successful in history, the first to win four world titles. I felt an even bigger desire to win the championship. I had a difficult year last year. So i was adamant i was going to better myself mentally, physically and with my attitude and how i work with everyone, so that i could put myself in the position i am in today. And at 32 years old, could he one day eclipse seven time german champion Michael Schumacher . Hamiltons used to breaking records. He will want to keep climbing, reaching for more. Thejourney goes on. Yes, and we are very lucky this morning, we are inside mercedes headquarters in the uk, we will be there withjohn in a few minutes time, having a look around as they celebrate. And of course there are areas we are not allowed to go, it is super secret. The Spanish Government will begin running catalonias institutions today, after the regions deposed leader Carles Puigdemont called for peaceful resistance to the imposition of direct rule. Hes been threatened with imprisonment after leading a declaration of independence. The focus of attention this morning is the headquarters of the Catalan Government to see if mr puigdemont turns up for work. Our correspondent gavin lee is there for us this morning. We have been watching that doorway all morning, it seems curious to look at a doorway, but this is so fundamental, whether he turns up for work and what will happen if he does . Yeah, it is a huge moment, i am not one for hyperbole, but does carlos pigem wont turn up for work or not . He says he has not been dismissed as president cammy says this is a coup detat by spain, and yet at same time things are not normal. Here at the Government Offices, he is not here, but he sent an instagram message a short while ago with a picture from inside the building saying good morning, suggesting that he is playing with the media, that this is an old picture from inside, but not a single cabinet member, who have all been sacked, has turned up to work so far, very unusual. The spanish governance are they are in the middle of enforcing the changeover, there will be a junior minister to oversee the passing of power to madrid. Gavin, for the moment, thank you very much. We will keep watching the door until he arrives or does not arrive. The number of Clinical Commissioning groups in england offering the recommended three ivf cycles to women under 40 has halved in the last five years. Of the 208 groups in england, 50 offered two cycles, 127 offered one, and seven did not offer ivf treatment on the nhs. Campaign group fertility fairness has urged the government to intervene. The department of health said the nhs should provide access to Fertility Service for all patients that meet the criteria. A eurasian lynx has escaped from an animal park in wales. The animal, which is twice the size of a domestic cat, escaped from borth wild Animal Kingdom near aberystwyth. Its been missing for around five days, and they can travel up to 12 miles per day. Earlier, though, we spoke to the police officer, or making the hunt for the lynx. Certainly, the message we are putting out to people is not to panic and to remain vigilant and alert in the area, and if anyone sees it, call 101, alert in the area, and if anyone sees it, call101, or alert in the area, and if anyone sees it, call 101, or if the animal appears injured, we would urge people to call 999. They did tell us also that they think there has been also that they think there has been a sighting, actually by the police themselves, but early on. So theyre just asking people to be vigilant, and clearly if you see something, let them know. We did say that they can travel, but most likely it will have remained close to where it escaped from. Lewis hamilton has become britains most successful ever formula one driver after clinching his fourth world title. A ninth place finish at the Mexican Grand Prix was enough to give him an unbeatable lead at the top of the drivers championship and secures his place in f1 history. Just nine years ago, he joined a select band of british champions, as he became the sports youngest ever champion in his second season. In 2014, his second title put him on a par with graham hill andjim clark. He then drew level with the legendary sirjackie stewart in 2015 with his third title. Hamilton is now well and truly in pole position with four titles, and the man whose record hes overtaken is full of admiration. John has exclusive access this morning to be mercedes formula one hq in northamptonshire, and this is actually what last years car, isnt it . Morning. Yes, this is last years car, and it is easy to think about last night, isnt it . Is easy to think about last night, isnt it . 60 is easy to think about last night, isnt it . 60 members of the pits team, Lewis Hamilton and his team mate, valtteri bottas, the excitement and success that goes with winning the world title in a car not dissimilar to this, but you forget just how car not dissimilar to this, but you forgetjust how big an operation it sport of is at the top level of the sport of formula one, and that is something you get a this morning, the sheer size of the mercedes headquarters in brackley, some 900 staff, 60 out in mexico who are yet to return following the successful race. Peter hodgkinson, when will they be returning to the base here . hodgkinson, when will they be returning to the base here . I think they will come back over the next couple of days in trips and droughts, yeah, it is a slow process. The main thing we are waiting for is the freight to return, we have a lot of work to do to get ready for the next race. Mornings like this must be why you get involved in the sport, what an exciting time for yourself and the team. When i first started in motorsport in 1986, you can only dream of things like this, to win four World Championships, the constructors, then for lewis to win the drivers title for a fourth time, to be part of that is very special, career defining moments. And the scale of this, the size of the operation, give us a sense of how much hard work is going operation, give us a sense of how mu scenes, fork is going operation, give us a sense of how mu scenes, because ling operation, give us a sense of how mu scenes, because all we see is the scenes, because all we see is Lewis Hamilton at the finishing line and the success he has enjoyed, but how much work goes on here day to day . An awful lot, lots of early starts, late nights, lots of pressure, we are competing against the best formula one teams in the world, so we are constantly pushed, but it is great, it is a great challenge, it is why you get out of bed in the morning. The level of secrecy has fascinated me, we were filming last night, but we couldnt show any of the data from the screens, the software you were using when we walked in the building, we had to put stickers over our cameras on our phones, because there is a sense that to maintain the very top level of your sport, you need to stay one step ahead of your rivals. We have got certain advantages and we dont want our competitors to see that. This is small margins. Fast change. It is a really dynamic sport so we have to be very, very careful in everything that we do. so we have to be very, very careful in everything that we do. I was amazed to see you striding across at in everything that we do. I was amazed to see that striding across at in everything that we do. I was amazed to see that you ing across at in everything that we do. I was amazed to see that you enjoyed ;s at in everything that we do. I was amazed to see that you enjoyed a at 6am. You said that you enjoyed a glass of champagne and you had a sore head this morning. Yes. As the dust settles, will lewis have a car next year that will see him win another world title . We are working on that right now. It is hard to say. The competition is out there. They are chasing us down and red bull and ferrari pushed us all year. Todayis bull and ferrari pushed us all year. Today is all about lewis and the championship. I want to speak to billy, the young racing driver who suffered that awful crash at donington which saw you lose both your legs. Billy, it is great to see your legs. Billy, it is great to see you this morning. I know you struck up you this morning. I know you struck upa you this morning. I know you struck up a relationship with Lewis Hamilton, you spent sometime with him at silverstone and he donated some money to your fund raising page after your crash . I got the invite from lewis two weeks before the race. It was overwhelming with everything thats gone on this year. It has been a life changing year i guess you could say, but he was really supportive and just gave me his time which i really appreciated. How are you doing after your crash because i know you are still and youre involved in the sport and youre still racing and you have plans, dont you, to continue in the sport . Yeah, 100 . Everything is going well with the recovery. The prosthetics are fitting well. Yeah, hopefully i will be up and walking soon which is a big bonus, getting things back to normality and then with the racing, im just looking forward to getting backin im just looking forward to getting back in the car over the winter and try and get everything working and ready for next year. At the minute were trying to work with the fia to change a view rules so we can race single seaters because one day i wa nt to single seaters because one day i want to be driving that car over there. Yeah, im really looking forward to what the future holds. know everyone watching you will be wishing you the best of luck in that and hopefully you will be able to race the single seaters. There has been talk about you getting together with some other guys and you were thinking of forming a team to race at the la months, the race that runs through the dare and the night, isnt it . Through the dare and the night, isnt it . The la months 24 hours is a great event in itself and for me to bea a great event in itself and for me to be a part of that in the future, i would love to be involved. Single seaters in formula one is whereas a kid i was dreaming of reaching them heights. So, im guessing la months could be a second option, but obviously formula one is the dream for all young racing drivers. Are you likely to be back with lewis at the silverstone grand prix . Yeah, i think he will do it again next year. You see the headquarters they have got here at mercedes and they have got unbelievable facilities and yeah im really looking forward to seeing the competition increase next year, but i think lewis will come out on top. Well, id like to know what it is like spending time with Lewis Hamilton and billy is the man to tell me. We will continue our chat andi tell me. We will continue our chat and i will hand you back to louise and i will hand you back to louise and charlie. Studio it is wonderful to see billy there. Pass on our thanks, john, it has been really fascinating looking around. There is other sport, john will give you a full round up later on. People will know, its cold, its freezing out there. Good morning. Temperatures fell to below freezing, it is still minus four celsius in braemar. Now, it is a cold start to the week, but it will be short lived because tomorrow and into the middle of the week with increasing amounts of cloud, it is going to turn milder. There is not much rain in the forecast, we will see some in the north and the west. As we head into the weekend we are back into colder conditions with showers. What we have this morning area showers. What we have this morning are a couple of fronts coming our way. This is the first one moving from the west to the east taking rain and this is the second one coming up from the south west. Thats also going to bring in rain. Here they are on the charts. So first thing this morning weve got showers down this north sea coast line. Some patchy mist and fog across wales and cheshire, that will lift readily. For most it is a dry start and a bright one. That will be the case across Northern Ireland, except for the west, where the cloud will thicken as it will across western scotland. Will thicken as it will across west through and. Will thicken as it will across west through heading north east goes through heading north east wards. So a goes through heading north east wards. So a bit of sunshine, wards. So quite a bit of sunshine, but cold, cold in scotland and cold in Northern England. Colder than yesterday. As we come further south into the midlands, east anglia, againa lot into the midlands, east anglia, again a lot of dry weather. Some lengthy sunny spells. Still one or two showers flirting with east anglia and thats about it. Across southern counties, the channel islands, the isle of website, a lot of dry weather with sunshine and the same can be said for wales with highs of 11 celsius in aberystwyth. Through this evening and overnight we have a weather front producing rain across scotland moving out of Northern Ireland and into Northern England. The heaviest rain will be in the West Highlands and the cloud will come in with that across england and wales. So, before that happens, its going to be cold in the south east. Possibly cold enough foran the south east. Possibly cold enough for an early frost before that Cloud Cover Co m es for an early frost before that Cloud Cover Comes in. And that means tomorrow morning its quite a cloudy start. Again, with the rain across northern areas. Still heavy across the West Highlands. Tomorrow, anywhere from wales, northwards, onwindward facing coasts we are likely to see lower cloud and drizzle as well. Murkier conditions, at the temperatures, but look at the temperatures, remember today across scotland and Northern England, we are looking at eights and nines, tomorrow, we are looking at 12s and 13s, but the highest temperatures will be in the brighter conditions as we push further south. Then head from tuesday into wednesday we have got this wiggling weather front which is producing rain. Across Northern Ireland, scotland and at times Northern England. As you push south of that, we have got drier and brighter conditions. Again with sunshine and this is where we will see the high temperatures with london getting up to 15 celsius lou and charlie. Thank you very much, we will see you later on. We all know the dangers that passive smoking poses to our friends and family, but what about the risk to household pets . For the first time veterinary groups and the Royal College of nursing are working together to raise awareness about the damage smoking around animals can cause. Ricky boleto reports. Come on, millie. Lets go in. Millies a Chihuahua Jack russell cross. Full of energy most of the time and doesnt mind the camera. Amanda cook adopted her two years ago. Shes my baby. Unsure of the potential damage it might be having an millies health. When the children come, the grandchildren, i dont smoke. Im happy to smoke when theyre not here, just around millie. Ive always done it. I never really thought that it would harm a pet. Well, experts say just like humans, pets are at risk of second hand smoke. They often spend more time indoors, close to their owners, where they can breathe it in. Campaigners say smoking around cats and dogs can increase their risk of developing cancers. Smaller pets like rabbits and guinea pigs may be prone to eye and skin disease. Thats better, isnt it . Back to millie. To find out more, a sample of her fur is being analysed by scientists in this lab. Good girl. Weve seen the results back from the lab. I understand that the nicotine on her hair levels are high. They are high, about 70 higher than some comparison hairs from another dog in a non smoking household. So that does suggest that millie is being exposed to tobacco smoke in the environment, and therefore probably breathing it in. And after some good advice, amanda has made a big decision. Shes my life. Where do you go from here, do you think . No smoking indoors. Watching that report with us was Wendy Preston from the Royal College of nursing. Good morning to you. The first thing quite a few people will think obviously, why wouldnt an animals lungs be affected by smoke . Actually thats the exact view i had. Of course it makes sense. We know the risk of second hand smoking on people and weve had lots of successful campaigns for example reducing stopping smoking in cars because we know that can affect children and adults. So this makes perfect sense. It is interesting what we looked at the research this there. This is the early days and it interesting for example that it might be in theirfur. What impact might be in theirfur. What impact might that have . So what this evidence has shown is there is high concentrations of nicotine in the fur of pets for example, dogs and cats. And so that gives an extra dimension. We know that there is risks from second hand smoking which is breathing in particles, but this brings in the risk of third hand smoking so cats, animals and small animals will groom themselves and inhale and ingest the smoke particles but that translates to children. So children who will come in and cuddle pets and adults do a lot of cuddling and petting of their pets. Thats increasing their risk of third hand smoke which is dangerous. The tie between the veterinary practise nursing practise is that if you can persuade people for, for whatever reason, maybe it is about guilt about their animals to not smoke in the room with them or stop smoking altogether, thats a good thing too . Absolutely. Thats why we have got together to look at and share resources because its important that at every opportunity we raise the risks. Peoplejust dont know about this risk and it will help them to think about what doi will help them to think about what do i need to do . Is it time that i have another attempt at stopping smoking . And there is lots of support out there and we know, using nhs stop smoking service, vastly increases your risk of stopping smoking. People love their pets, dont they . They will be worried, people really, really concerned about what this report . Absolutely. It must be a shock to think that you could be harming your pets. No one wa nts to could be harming your pets. No one wants to harm their pets. This is a time to think about how can i reduce that risk or even stop that risk . You talked about stopping and you are encouraging people to do that and talking about reducing the risk. What can people do . So we know, it is similarto what can people do . So we know, it is similar to the advice we give with children and smoking with children to not smoke in front of them, but its also important, so if children we know, if you smoke in front of them, but wear the same clothes, if you cuddle a baby you have got a risk of third hand smoke. Clothes, if you cuddle a baby you have interesting f third hand smoke. Clothes, if you cuddle a baby you have interesting talking land smoke. Clothes, if you cuddle a baby you have interesting talking told smoke. Clothes, if you cuddle a baby you have interesting talking to you. Oke. Very interesting talking to you. Thank you very much indeed. Its time for the news, travel and weather where you are this morning. Hello, good morning. Starting this week on a noticeably chilly note after the coolest night of autumn so far, some of us waking up to a touch of frost. Cool and bright, though, england and wales seeing a lot of dry and bright weather, some isolated showers through the morning for the east to, but Northern Ireland, scotland, the far north of england, cloud increasing through the day, light outbreaks of drizzle in northern and north west scotland. The breeze as well the breeze picking up here as well towards the end of the day, but for of england and wales, dry and much of england and wales, dry and bright weather, temperatures not up to much, struggling into the double figures. Temperatures not up to much in the south west either, a high of 11 celsius. This evening and overnight, a chilly start to begin with for the far south, then cloud increasing across england and wales, outbreaks of rainfall or the nile and pushing into scotland and Northern England, but milder than last night, overnight lows of 7 10 degrees celsius. A different feel to things tomorrow, cloudier than today, outbreaks of rainfall north west scotland and into Northern England as well, quite persistent for north west scotland, and for england and wales a lot of dry weather, a cloudier day, some brightness and sunshine further south, temperatures recovering slightly on today, maximum of 14 celsius. Into wednesday, then, we will start to see more outbreaks of rain courtesy of this same weather front that is slowly edging its way south and eastwards, so we will continue to see the north south rainfall split, some outbreaks of rainfall Northern Ireland and north west scotland, quite persistent, but further south a lot of dry weather with sunny spells, highs of 15 celsius
