A british man who fought with Kurdish Militia against the Islamic State group has been convicted of a terrorism offence following retrial. The remains of the former spanish dictator general franco are moved to a low key grave as the government says the nation must stop glorifying a fascist. Those are our headlines. Lets ta ke those are our headlines. Lets take a look at what is coming up lets take a look at what is coming upfor lets take a look at what is coming up for you this evening. Christian and michelle are with you from 7a beyond 100 days. They will look at the chances of a december general election. At 8 30pm, we talked of a woman with Cystic Fibrosis who met the Health Secretary today, after the nhs announced it would make a extending drug available in england. Later tonight, we look at the newspaper front pages, with later tonight, we look at the newspaperfront pages, with Rachel Cunliffe from city am and george eaton from the new statesman. All of that is ahead. As we have been hearing, the Prime Minister has told the bbc he wants to hold a december general election if the eu grants a three month extension to the brexit process. Borisjohnson also said in his interview with our Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg that he is planning to bring his brexit plan back to parliament. This is what he had to say. What we have decided is that we have got a way forward for this country in the eu. We have got a great deal in brexit, as you know, for the first time in 3. 5 years. Parliament voted to endorse a way out of the eu, the deal i was able to do with our friends and partners. But u nfortu nately, friends and partners. But unfortunately, they also voted to delay the final approval of that deal they have endorsed, and im afraid what that means is, if this parliament is anything to go by, that delay could go on for a very long time. So im afraid it looks as though our eu friends are going to respond to pa rliaments though our eu friends are going to respond to parliaments request by having an extension, which i really dont want at all. So the way to get this done, the way to get brexit done, is, ithink, to be this done, the way to get brexit done, is, i think, to be reasonable with parliament and say, if they genuinely want more time to study this excellent deal, they can have it, but they have to agree to a general election on december the 12th. That is the way forward, because this parliament has been going on for a long time without a majority. It is refusing to deliver brexit. It is impossible to deliver legislation. It is time, frankly, that the opposition summed up the nerve to submit themselves to the judgment of our collective bass, which is the people of the uk. If your deal is so great, as you claim, and if you believe parliament have endorsed it, which they havent, they have just agreed to go ahead and have scrutiny, why, then, try to ram this through with the threat of an election . You could go oii threat of an election . You could go ona threat of an election . You could go on a more threat of an election . You could go on a more conventional timetable, give Parliament Time to do a standard length and scrutiny, and do it that way. That is a very good point. We are going to give them all the time they want between now and the time they want between now and the dissolution of parliament to do that scrutiny. That is much more than, i think, that scrutiny. That is much more than, ithink, some that scrutiny. That is much more than, i think, some of them have been asking for. I mean, that is more than Philip Hammond was asking for. This is a big chunk of time. And it is interesting, actually, in the debate on tuesday about brexit, everybody said we need more time to study this deal. Actually, the labour party couldnt even find enough speakers. They ran out of speakers, let alone new ideas to bring to the table. We have had 3. 5 yea rs bring to the table. We have had 3. 5 years to discuss this. We are being very, very reasonable. We are saying, if you genuinely want more time, you can have it. Here it is. But the condition for that is that we all agreed to go for a general election on december 12. The reason for having that deadline is because otherwise, i dont think the people of this country are going believe that parliament is really going to do it by that deadline. They have spent three and a half years failing to do it, so lets get it done and come out of the eu. But Prime Minister, it is not standard behaviour. You are essentially trying to blackmail parliament with the threat of an election in order to ram through your bill. This is the biggest thing, im sure you would agree, that this country has done for decades and decades. You could just say, fine, lets have as long as it takes to get through this line by line long as it takes to get through this line byline in long as it takes to get through this line by line in parliament. Would that not be the responsible thing to do . Come on, we have had three and a half years of this. Not looking at this bill. Well, most of this bill is very familiar to parliamentarians, and when they had the opportunity to debate the actual deal the other day, they could not find it a speakers to fill the debate. This is something that has been super masticating at. There are big changes in the bill. Big changes between your deal in the previous deal. And what we are saying, laura, is that there will be more time now allocated for all mps to come together and look at it, and starting from now, starting from tonight if necessary, write their way through to when parliament would rise on november the 6th, there is a long period to debate, discuss the provisions in this withdrawal agreement. But i think what people wa nt to agreement. But i think what people want to know is, if there is that extra time, then this time, parliament really means it. It really will get behind the deal. It really will get behind the deal. It really will get behind the deal. It really will put it through. And in order to create a deadline that is credible and everybodys minds, there must be that hard stop of a general election. Finally, you have tried to get an election before and failed. What makes you think the opposition will give you your way this time . They could just keep you hostage. They could, but i think it would be absolutely morally incredible if they were to do so. After all, this isa they were to do so. After all, this is a party, the labour party, and jeremy corbyn, who have called repeatedly for a general election. They have called for an election to be delayed until there is a deal and brexit, until there is an extension on brexit. Well, they have got their hearts desire. Now is the time to be reasonable, to agree that with the extra time that would be available, a considerable chunk of time, for parliament to get together, mps across the house to come together, look at this bill properly, get it done, but agree also that we could then go to a general election. And i would be very happy to campaign on this deal. I think it is a great deal for the country. It takes our country forward. I would country. It takes our country forward. Iwould be country. It takes our country forward. I would be very happy to campaign on all the things were doing is a one nation conservative government to build a great future for the whole uk. If mps do not agree to your demand for an election, what you do . That is a very good point, and im afraid it will be clear that ifjeremy corbyn and the labour party refuse to go along with this deal and do not accept either that brexit can be done, refused to accept that there should be more time to deliberate brexit, thats what they would be saying, or that there can be a general election, then you have to ask, what is the purpose that they think they are serving in parliament . What would you do . What we would do, to be absolutely clear, is to campaign day after day after day for the people of this country to be released from subjection to a parliament that has outlived its usefulness and has fulfilled its function, that is refusing to get brexit done, is refusing to advance any of the fantastic one nation a gender that we set out in the queens speech, and it is frankly time for this parliament to make way for a new, fresh parliament that can deliver on the priorities of the british people. Some of your cabinet would like to have more time with the bill. Some of them dont want an election. But we are giving them more time for the bill, and that is the beauty of what we are proposing. But the only way, credibly, to offer more time is for the people of this country and parliament to understand that this time, there really is a deadline. Prime minister, thank you very much. The Prime Minister, talking to our Political Editor. After that interview, there was a vote on whether to pass the queens speech, and the government when that by a majority of 16. The leader of the, jacob rees mogg, then addressed the commons, announcing the election motion. The leader of the house. I would just like to make a very short statement this evening regarding mondays business. Before the house considers the second reading of the environment bill, members will have an opportunity to debate and approve a motion relating to an early parliamentary general election. The business for the rest of next week remains as i announced earlier. That was jacob rees mogg. We have been getting some reaction to that announcement from Boris Johnson. The leader of the Scottish National party, Nicola Sturgeon, and the first minister of scotland, tweeting. That is what Nicola Sturgeon thinks. Lets get the thoughts of our chief Political Correspondent vicky young. Nicola sturgeon doesnt like it. What about the other opposition parties . Yes, the snp have said that they wont vote for an election and Boris Johnsons terms. They wont vote for an election and borisjohnsons terms. The way they see it, this is borisjohnson saying, give me the brexit i want, with my deal, and then give me the general election that i want. And i just think, probably, they will not go for that. We havent heard from labour yet, but i think again it would be quite difficult for them to vote for it in this way. That speaks of the liberal democrats sir ed davey, who was with me now. You have previously said you want a general election, but you will not vote for it . Lets remember what has happened tonight. Borisjohnson it . Lets remember what has happened tonight. Boris johnson has it . Lets remember what has happened tonight. Borisjohnson has failed. He said he was going to take britain out of the eu by the 31st of october, do or die. He said he would die ina october, do or die. He said he would die in a ditch, and he has failed. It is his own fault, because he could have negotiated with the eu and brought his deal to Parliament Much earlier on. So he only has himself to blame. And all he is trying to do tonight is trying to divert peoplesattention from that central fact will stop i think a numberof your central fact will stop i think a number of your viewers will wonder why he is not resigning, because he has failed in his main mission. What do you do now . He has come forward with a deal, he is trying to govern, he would say, and is being stopped from governing, because he doesnt have a majority. So he wants to go to the people in a general election and let them decide. You are stopping him doing that. We stopped in this week, because he wanted to railroad this deal through parliament in just a railroad this deal through parliament injust a few railroad this deal through parliament in just a few days. When parliament in just a few days. When parliament has had this kind of treaty in the past, it has taken several weeks to look at them, because we are sent here by the people to scrutinise the legislation put forward by the government. It was quite pathetic that he should try to push parliament through, and parliament decided it would not be bullied by borisjohnson, and so, even tonight, the leader of the is, jacob rees mogg, was saying we could only have just a few days. They are clearly not listening to parliament. Parliament wants to do its job properly. We are in a slightly ridiculous position where you are arguing for more time to look at a deal that you are never going to vote for. We have said if the deal is put before parliament in a way that we talked about, we would want to have a peoples vote. We have argued long and hard in the liberal democrats to let the people have the final say on brexit. We think a general election is not the best way to settle that. We have been saying that for months. What i would really like to see as Parliament Given a chance to vote on the possibility of a peoples vote. Today, here in parliament, we tabled an amendment to the queens speech in a peoples vote. Regrettably, that was not selected by the speaker, but i think there is time to test opinions and that, thats what liberal democrats wa nt that, thats what liberal democrats want to see. You know what i am going to say. We have had previous votes in a referendum and it hasnt gone through. What makes you think this has changed now with this make up of the house of commons . Well, we havent had a vote on a referendum, frankly, a long time. Peoples vote option could now be attached to this deal, and there are attached to this deal, and there are a lot of people who do not like this deal, but would be prepared to see it put back to the british people, and that could be an option that mps would want to examine and look at seriously. But lets not put the ca rt seriously. But lets not put the cart before the horse. Lets see what europe decides. Borisjohnson was forced by parliament to ask for an extension he said he would never ask for. He has now lost the prospect of taking britain out of the eu on the day he said he was going to. So the Prime Minister, he keeps losing and losing. The eu may try and bail him out, and give him the extension, and lets see how thatis the extension, and lets see how that is used, but im afraid tonight, the story is of a Prime Minister who has failed. But the thing is, yes, he has lost votes, he cant govern, he doesnt have a majority. The only way to remedy thatis majority. The only way to remedy that is to have a general election. You, the snp and others have said, yes, we will vote for a general election, yet, if there is an opportunity to do so, you are not willing to vote for it . What terms would you vote for a general election . Lets first be clear, the liberal democrats are quite keen for a general election, because we think we would do very well. I will vote share has increased significantly, out share has increased significantly, our message of stopping brexit is popular with many people. So we think we would do well in that, and given that we are the only united party, the conservatives and labour are divided, i think it is a good prospect for us. However, we have had our principles. We want to stick to them. First, that says that a danger is no deal must be off the table. We cannot allow the possibility of britain crashing out of the eu, damagingjobs possibility of britain crashing out of the eu, damaging jobs and impacting things like medicine and food. We cannot allow that, and we still dont know whether that is going to be possible. If it were possible, we come back to our key issue, giving the people the final say. A much better way of dealing with this. Lets remember, a general election in 2017 was supposed to help brexit. It completely failed, primarily because the conservative party is so split. Sir ed davey, thank you very much indeed. The view from the lib dems, and borisjohnson might want his december the 12th election, but he certainly wont get it this way. Thank you, vicky, lets get some labour reaction now. We will talk to the mp Geraint Davies who joins us from westminster. Thank you for being with us. Do you want an election in december the 12 . No. We have got a situation where Boris Johnson is trying to ram through his reckless brexit deal, which will cut peoplespay, harm their environment and their work is writes, undermine oui and their work is writes, undermine our future and their work is writes, undermine ourfuture trade, and their work is writes, undermine our future trade, and to get that done and have an immediate election, of the smoke of that, and try to store men. What we need is a situation where the people are given an opportunity to consider this reckless deal and wonder what is best for theirfamily, reckless deal and wonder what is best for their family, and for instance, in wales, people will lose £1000 a year on this. They do not wa nt to £1000 a year on this. They do not want to lose their work as writes in future opportunities. They should be allowed to have their say and vote on this important issue. 0nce we get this out of the way, because we get this out of the way, because we all want brexit to be over, lets have a general election for early next year. So when youre leader mr corbyn said not so long ago about an election, bring it on, what did he mean . I mean, lets get no deal off the table. In this reckless deal basically means that in a years time, we will fall off a cliff edge with a no deal, because that will be the end of the transition period and we wont have security trade deal in that time. It will take about five yea rs. That time. It will take about five years. So they didnt say, lets get it done, lets get it done, and put a ridiculous deal that he wont put to the people and a sudden election, which would be grossly irresponsible. But if you are confident of winning an election, which i know your party so you are, surely you could get enough mps and get any kind of brexit you want through . And election will not sort out brexit, it willjust delay and dither more. He has got a deal. Lets put it to the people, get it over with, and we will have a general election. Thats it. And if we have a general election, brexit will remain on the back burner. We will remain on the back burner. We will have to go back to it again. People dont want to see that. They wa nt to people dont want to see that. They want to get brexit over. They dont wa nt want to get brexit over. They dont want any old reckless brexit. You could have a labour brexit, exactly your vision, if you had an election and won it with a decent majority. Great deal of us dont want brexit at all, because of easily, it will make as a weaker, poorer, more divided and isolated country. I will be campaigning for remain. I think we can incidentally win this vote in parliament. Your last speaker was ambiguous on this. I think the dup will come over, because they realise, there are four things they want, which are brexit, peace, prosperity, and the united kingdom. But they know that a Boris Johnson brexit will stop them getting the other three, smashing the piece, having a divided kingdom, and stopping prosperity. Smashing the peace. In my view, they are now looking towards having a peoples vote. We will have that, get it over with, and get on with a general election. You know, lots of people will say that labour is scared of an election will stop you are miles behind in the opinion polls. Jeremy corbett is certainly miles behind borisjohnson in terms of National Popularity or unpopularity. Jeremy corbyn. So that is what you do not want to december election. Jeremy corbyn. So that is what you do not want to december electionlj think we want to do what is right for the country, to get brexit over and then have a general election. In the likelihood of winning and losing, it is likely borisjohnson thinks that dashing forward, the remainder will split between the liberal democrats and labour and he will win with a majority of the votes in a minority of the seats. That would be a tragedy for democracy itself and also a travesty for the economy, which would be broken by brexit. We need to sort this brexit problem out there putting his reckless deal to the people, so it has got votes right across the country, not broken up and divided by constituencies with splits between various different groups, get that sorted, and have a general election and all the other issues we want to get on with. We can only get on with those issues if we get over brexit, and in my view, the best way to do that is to stop it. Mrjohnson, in his letter to jeremy corbyn, said, and im sure this is something quite a lot of people watching this might agree with, said, it is our duty to end this nightmare and provide the country with a solution as soon as we reasonably can. That is exactly right, and that solution would be to get the deal done on the table, in front of the british people, let them decide in or out, and then have a general election. That is the clearest, cleanest way of doing it. If we have a brexit, incidentally, they will be endless years and years of negotiation from a position of weakness. We will be arguing with countries we previously negotiated with in the eu, getting worse and worse deals, getting poorer and poorer. That is not what people want. They dont want to rush forward to poverty. They want to final say, and we should give it to them. Thanks very much for your time, Geraint Davies. Lets get more reaction from a across the house of commons. Anna soubry, now leader of the independent group for change, gave her view. He is playing silly beggars with the future of our country. There is
