But also he needs to make the case back home in the us that its still worth supporting ukraine. We are expecting him to announce another package of support worth about 1 billion. It is committed more than 60 million in aid, billion dollars in aid, more than 60 billion of that. Especially with this counteroffensive thats happening, its about four months and, its not been going to plan. The bbc has been sent a video of the father and step mother of sara sharif the 10 year old found dead at a house in woking last month in which they claim theyre willing to co operate with british police. Its the couples first Public Statement since they left the uk the day before saras body was found on 10th of august. Its a short video and the couple focuses mainly on the circumstances they now find themselves in. Heres our pakistan correspondent, caroline davies. We are coming forward and presenting ourselves. Four weeks to the day after they left the uk, this is the first and weve heard from urfan sharif and beinash batool. Theyre wanted for questioning about the death of sara sharif, urfan s ten year old daughter. She was found dead the day after they left for pakistan. Pakistan Police Believe they travel to a hamlet in a rural area. Ina ruralarea. But from there, police say they lost the trail. Firstly, i would like to talk about sara. Saras death was an incident. In the 2 36 video, this is the only mention of sara. 0urfamily in pakistan are severely affected by all that is going on. They are harassing my extended family. They have also illegally raided many more of my Family Members homes. Most is about the harassment the couple say their family are facing as the Police Search for them. They have talked about a lawyer they have instructed in court to stop it. Police have previously admitted detaining some Family Members for questioning and conducting raids. My main concern is that the Pakistani Police will torture or kill us, that is why we have gone into hiding. 0n the latest allegation of torture, the police have been adamant, saying this is totally baseless. We dont know where this was filmed of the conditions was filmed or the conditions it was filmed under but some details help us to date it. Including when their lawyer will next try to stop the alleged harassment. The next Court Hearing is on 19th September 2023. There, thats important because that decision was only made yesterday in court in rawalpindi, our team was there. That means this video must have be made in the course of the last day. Most crucial is this element. Lastly, we are willing to cooperate with the uk authorities and fight our case in court. Pakistani police say they still do not know where the family is. Caroline davies, bbc news, islamabad. Scientists have grown an entity that closely resembles an early human embryo, without using sperm, eggs or a womb. The Weizmann Institute team says its synthetic embryo Model Looks Like a textbook example of a real 14 day old embryo. It even released hormones that produced a positive Pregnancy Test. The aim of these embryo models is to provide an ethical way of studying how stem cells form organs in developing embryos, and may one day make it possible to grow tissues and organs for transplantation using synthetic embryo models. 0ur health and science correspondent James Gallagher has more. This is a field thats been progressing rapidly and has now reached a significant moment. Take a second to think how remarkable it is that our lives start out like this. A single sperm fertilizing a single egg. But the first steps on the journey from this to us are poorly understood, and researching embryos is legally, ethically and technically fraught. So this is where embryo models come in and this is how its done. So there are no sperm or eggs involved. Instead, scientists start with human stem cells. These have the potential to become any type of tissue in our body. These are then transformed into the four types of cell youd find in an embryo that was just one week old. Then 120 of them are mixed together and you can see they start off as a jumble. But as they grow, this happens, they start to organize themselves, mimicking what a real embryo would look like 1a days after fertilization. And we can take a look at one. Now, this might appear confusing, i admit, but we can spot some things in here. The purple cells around the outside are the ones that would grow to form the placenta, and as we go inside, the yellow cells would create a yolk sac, and the blue ones would form in a real embryo, a human being. Now, of course, this isnt a real embryo. Its not possible to put this in the womb and make a baby. But it is similar. It even released hormones that made a Pregnancy Test turn positive in the lab. And thats whats exciting the Research Team in israel. Yes, this does look like textbook and and the structures are there and it looks really, really good. This is a stem cell derived entity that has all the cell types, all the compartments that are known and in the right orientation, which hasnt been done before. For those struggling to start a family, this research may one day help. It could lead to new ideas for tackling infertility or improving ivf. And thats because these embryo models allow scientists to perform research that would be impossible on real embryos. To understand the crucial early moments of our development when miscarriage and birth defects often arise. Theyre not normal human embryos. They are embryo models, but theyre very close to them. And so should you regulate them in the same way as a normal human embryo, or can you be a bit more relaxed about how theyre treated because because theyre not actually normal human embryos. You could not implant one of these in a woman because that would be illegal and they probably wouldnt work anyway. This field of research is advancing incredibly rapidly and its left regulators playing catch up. Around the world and across the uk. This is bbc news. Lets look at some other stories making news. Parts of the uk are expected to hit 32 degrees celsius later this week as an unseasonal heatwave sweeps across the country. Usually september marks the start of autumn and cooler weather but forecasters say the mercury could hit levels higher than the middle of summer. Heat Health Alerts have been upgraded to amber for most of england. Archaeologists in israel have discovered four Ancient Roman swords in a remote desert cave. They believe they were captured by jewish rebels nearly 2000 years ago. The site where they were found is known to have been a Hideout Forjewish fighters rising up against the romans who controlled what was then judea. The aip has made a number of recommendations. Lets interrupted that now to take your life to kyiv. Translation that now to take your life to kyiv. Translation . , ,. , translation tony, welcome to kyiv. I dont think we translation tony, welcome to kyiv. I dont think we need translation tony, welcome to kyiv. I dont think we need any i dont think we need any formal greetings. Because throughout this time of our working together, especially since this part of the full scale invasion, the relations between ukraine and the United States have reached a level when no formalities are necessary. What we need is sincere, friendly and fully frank conversation exactly what we had today. But first of all i would like to thank this secretary, this state secretary. Because we began the day with visiting the cemetery. I would like to comment on that because we have started a new tradition and i would like to thank the Secretary Of State for the support by becoming the first head of Foreign Ministry to begin his visit by honouring the graves of ukrainian soldiers. Who died repelling a full scale invasion. Today i told tony that, unfortunately, there are hundreds of such cemeteries all over ukraine. Everyone recognises them because there are ukrainian flags flying over them and the flags of the big grades where these soldiers fought. And i would like to thank tony for being with me there today, for sharing the emotional moment and for paying respects to the dead. But also for demonstrating the highest level of respect for the ukrainian soldiers who are continuing the fight, who are leading a counteroffensive, who are taking part in defence faction and are defending ukraine. From me today, it was important to hear the words of the Secretary Of State. And his high praise for the actions of our soldiers, our officers and our defence forces. This is an objective assessment which takes into account the difficulties on the front line, the difficulties on the front line, the heroic deeds of ukrainian serviceman, but first of all let us address the substantive part of the talks today. We, again, saw for ourselves there the United States remains a leading ally of ukraine encountering the russian aggression. We are extremely appreciative of the financial, humanitarian, energy and Political Support coming from the United States. And we think the biden administration, the Foreign Policy team and especially the Secretary Of State, the congress, and each american supporting ukraine in this fight. The Military Assistance provided to ukraine and Financial Assistance are not a charitable act. I would like to stress that. It is the most beneficial investment on the part of the us in European Security and the euro Atlantic Security and the security of the entire world. Today ukraine, supported by its partners, is deterring russia. Its forcing it to renounce its aggressive plans. To subjugate other countries to its well. And unprecedented in history, well. And unprecedented in history, we are not putting any american lives at risk. We are leading this fight with our own resources, our own people, who are fighting, using weapons from our partners. We have never called for american troops to be brought into ukraine. We will never do this. But indeed, we need support in this fight. And this support in this fight. And this support is also a recognition of the mission. That ukraine is performing in the global context. Today, it will be no surprise to you that we spent a lot of time talking about weapons. And we thank you, we thank you for the decisions taken already, for the decisions yet to be announced, its important that the Secretary Of State will return to washington with a very concise understanding of our needs. We discussed an increase in air defence, strengthening air defence, while the Secretary Of State was en route to kyiv, kyiv sustains yet another missile attack. And other ukrainian regions were affected. So we did not spend a lot of time discussing our air defence needs because there isnt anything to discussed. Its obvious, the need is high and very important. And i only mentioned the number of air Defence Systems that we need to protect the green corridor and our cities. Grain corridor. I would like to give special thanks to the United States for the decision to allow other countries to start Training Pilots on f 16 combat aircraft and to handle this aircraft. We have spent a lot of time thinking denmark, the netherlands, norway, have already stated their readiness to handle their planes and we thanked for countries that have announced training for pilots, and thanking them we also think the United States without whose decision these countries would not have been able to approve their own decisions. Because f 16 is an american plane. We also discussed in detail, providing ukraine with long range missiles, we have very substantive conversation on this and i am glad that this remains an open discussion, it remains an open question, and the discussions within, we hope the discussions within, we hope the discussions within the administration will lead to a positive decision. We spent time today. As you know, its not enough to engage partners weapons, but ukraine and the whole world needs to step up in arms production. Production of weapons of different types, and the right times in history where the world is disarming, but now is the time for the world, when the world is forced to arm itself. And therefore i implored the Secretary Of State about our plan to hold the first ever forum of Defence Industries where foreign and Ukrainian Defence enterprises will pool efforts in the joint production and servicing of weapons. I also said that we are talking about integrating they ukraines defence with natos defence programmes. Us and American Companies will take part in this important event i hope they will. I already mentioned that this grain as export, our positions concur. The most promising is the danube corridor and we will work on its development. We also discussed of course, the piece formula. We coordinated our next steps in strengthening and expanding the circle of those involved in this initiative, that was president zielinski zelensky s initiative. Tools for ending the war, the rules of ending the war are defined not by the aggressor but the country repelling the aggression. And this is an important moment in International Diplomacy and it is a fair approach. We also agreed to specific steps that we are going to take together for this. And ultimately i want to mention one more thing. These are civilian prisoners. I informed the Secretary Of State that russia is engaging in a very large scale operation in capturing civilians and taking them prisoner. Tens of thousands of civilians have ended up in russian captivity only because they are ukrainians and for some reason the Russian Occupying authorities do not like them. We in ukraine understand that the world needs more effective mechanisms to save these people. There are many questions here, but we must not allow russia to create a precedent which will be used by russia and other hostile regimes. To use, which will use civilians as hostages. We agreed that our teams will hold consultations on which instruments are available in International Law and could be used to release these people. And which instruments should be created to save them. And finally, i would like to thank the Secretary Of State for the fact that whatever we discussed, whatever these are, diplomatic efforts or the piece formula or relations with african states, weapons, the counteroffensive, central to these discussions for the Secretary Of State is always the human being. There security and their freedom. Human being. There security and theirfreedom. And thanks human being. There security and their freedom. And thanks to this approach, we always find solutions because everything we do, we do for people. And this is also about such things as the return of mcdonalds to ukraine. It is back, and has become symbolic of the return of large scale American Business and the confidence that you can do large scale business in ukraine and stand next to our people at a difficult time for them. So thank you tony, again, for this visit, it is very timely. The talks you had with the Prime Minister and president of ukraine were very meaningful, and i am sure that very soon, concrete decisions will be approved as a result of these talks. We will continue to move forward. Whoever made out that ukraine and the United States will stand shoulder to shoulder in this war, in this fight for victory, have again seen today that they are mistaken. We are moving Forward Together because we understand that this war is not only for the future of ukraine. This is about the future of the world. And we must defend the world together. Tony, over to you. Thank you very, very much. Let me start thank you very, very much. Let me start by thank you very, very much.
