It wasn't anyone's decision.
Amy Rabenda's pivot, as Bordentown High School teacher Mike Brennan calls it “from guidance counselor to morale officer” wasn't imposed on her by anyone, except maybe herself.
“It's not what she's paid to do,” Brennan said. “No administrator is asking her to do it, but she's become our morale officer. She makes it her job; if she can help a kid or make a kid feel better, she's going to do it.”
And if she's going to do it for kids stuck at home by the coronavirus pandemic, or doing hybrid learning, it's going to take some creativity.
