Boston COVID-19 update: Mayor leads briefing about vaccine, reopening
Boston's mayor considers accelerating reopening timeline

Boston Mayor Kim Janey gives a statement in response to the verdict handed down in the Derek Chauvin trial on April 20, 2021.
Citing positive COVID-19 health and vaccination trends, Boston Mayor Kim Janey said her administration is considering whether to accelerate the city's reopening timeline.
"I certainly hope to make a decision about this in the coming days and, perhaps, next week," she told reporters on Tuesday.Sign up for our Newsletters
Janey said the positive test rate citywide had fallen to 2.4% and that all neighborhoods were below 5%. She also said 65% of city residents age 16 or older have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
