A Bridgeport woman who is facing foreclosure is now one step closer to saving her home.
A News 12 Connecticut report back in January has generated public support for Lois Patrick and her family in their effort to save their home.
Patrick says her mother never told her she had fallen behind on her property taxes. Patrick was left with a $30,000 tax bill when her mother died.
When Norwalk businessman Andy DiLoreto and State Senator Dennis Bradley heard about the case on
News 12 Connecticut, they launched a legislative effort to stop what they call a predatory practice on the part of lien holders, who they say charge high interest rates and leave homeowners like Patrick "behind the eight ball" facing eviction.
