TRIBUTES have poured in for the late Captain Sir Tom Moore, who died yesterday afternoon, age 100, after testing positive for Covid-19.
Sir Tom raised nearly £33 million for the NHS over the first lockdown by doing laps around his Bedfordshire garden.
He was admitted to hospital on Sunday after suffering pneumonia and testing positive for coronavirus.
Oxford Mail readers have paid tributes to the national hero:
TRICIA W: “A beautiful person, an inspiration to us all. No words can describe what a true hero sir captain Tom Moore is to many of us. Rest in peace angel.”
NICKY CLARGO: "Truly heartbreaking news. One who tried to raise a little but ended up raising so much and supporting so many. Goes to show you that no matter what age we are we can all do our bit. He will, I'm sure, receive an excellent send-off from the UK residents and hopefully, he will be an inspiration to many for years to come. RIP Sir Tom. You've earned your angel wings for sure."
