Their food is rotting and it is so hard to get to some of these people up in the mountain tops that theyre actually flying. I could hear helicopters going all the time either trying to rescue people that are trapped, or trying to give them supplies so they can just hold on. Ive actually also ventured today for the first time, been able to venture outside of asheville. And you see right here, wolf you can see the fema vehicles. This is Lake Floor where weve seen so many first responders going in there still going through all of this this debris because this is still an active Search And Rescue. There are people that are still so when accounted for wolf. And this is far out as theyre letting us go through the Police Line right here its going to take a long time for these communities to recover. Weve heard from so many, including the governor days, weeks months, if not years including the mayor of a nearby town over here. Here who said that 50 of his neighbors all lost their homes. He says hell also traveled to georgia and florida when its safe and when conditions allow him to do so. But President Biden and also fielded some questions from reporters and one of them in response to one of them, he gave an especially colorful and at times frustrated response when he was asked to respond to to comments by former President Donald Trump today that he ends some of the democratic leaders are in trumps words ignoring other parts of their states and not sending the type of response that is needed. We know that the Water Sister down and we have been moving commodities in, in partnership with the state and moving them out into the communities but we know theres areas we havent gotten to yet. So well continue to get that information of the places that still need critical equipment, critical food and water. Were going to continue to move that into those areas. And then here in North Carolina, it has been catastrophic there is a number of people that are still unaccounted for here in North Carolina. We know that a number those are probably due to loss of communications but we do believe that that Death Toll here well probably still continue to rise, which is why were bringing in additional Search And Rescue teams to get out into those communities that we havent been able to reach yet and its just devastating across all six states, high numbers of loss of life in every state that has been impacted by Hurricane Helene. Some families are telling cnn that Dan Thats still that they still dont know whether their Loved Ones have survived the storm. What is your message to these very, very desperate families . I think sometimes that is so hard and one of the hardest things for families when they just dont know yet and we know a lot of it is because the communications are down. The best thing that they can do right now is that they have not called to oneone to let officials here in North Carolina know that their families havent been able to be connected with them yet. That gives us that information so we can start to focus our efforts of where the unaccounted are and see if we can find anybody thats still needs rescuing as you know, Deanne Hundreds Of Roads remain closed in the southeast as a result of Hurricane Helene, how much is this hampering fema is ability to actually go ahead and deliver these badly needed supplies closures are certainly a hinderance, right . Because we want to be able to get in close, close to these communities that have been impacted. But we have a large amount of aerial assets that have been here since before the storm are bringing additional in to complement what already the state has in place they have been flying here all day. Ive been hearing them all day as ive been here, ive been able to see them as i was flying around today. Other resources that are out putting those supplies, trying to reach the people that have been impacted. I know that Department Of Transportation just requested additional resources that are coming in from florida to help them clear these roads. Were going to continue to listen to what their needs are bringing additional federal assets and help open these roads so we can reach these communities because we know that theres still so many people that have been isolated as a result of the Storms Path quickly before i let you go, diane, do you want to comment at all on what trump is saying that the biden administration is not really helping republican areas of North Carolina well, if i was in florida earlier this week and then i went to georgia to assess the impacts in both of those states. I have been in contact with all of the governors in the six states that were impacted.
