Equipment to steal, to trucks, to federal fleets. That is 600 billion. When i am president , we will make sure we make good on the commitment made a long time ago that these products we will leave this to take you live to las vegas where senator Kamala Harris is holding a drivein Voter Mobilization events. [honking] honk if you love joe. [laughter] so good to bet is with you. Congresswoman, thank you for your introduction and all that you do. Such a fighter. Ink you, everybody. First of all, there are so many incredible leaders this afternoon who have been a part of this campaign from the beginning and we will count on them to lead us through these next 32 days of victory. Organismrks, our field organizer. The state governor. I was just hanging out with him behind the stage. [indiscernible] [honking] [indiscernible] sen. Harris they were going to be here, but they wanted to stay in d. C. Sureare fighting to make we take care of america. I want to thank them for hosting us today. I want to thank everybody for the work that you do. Is this working . There we go. There is so much at stake in this election. Have 36at stake, and we days to get this done and we will get it done. Here is the thing. As joe said, is about fighting for the soul of our nation. When joe talks about fighting for the soul of our nation, it is about fighting for working people, fighting for families, fighting for children, fighting for health care, fighting for good union jobs, it is about fighting to preserve our climate and clean air and clean water. It is about fighting for a pathway to citizenship for our brothers and sisters and renewing productions under daca. There is so much on the line in this election. There is not a thing we can take for granted. Not a thing we can take for granted. We are fighting for the soul of our nation, saying yes, we can andcriminal justice reforms policing reforms. Yes, we can do what is necessary to Bring Health Care to everybody because we believe health care should be a right and not a privilege to those who can afford it. Line are the things on the in this election and we have 32 days to get it done. I do not need to tell my cousins in nevada. Nevada about the change we see coming with the work we are doing the change we see coming when we know here in nevada we have the highest unemployment of any state in the country. Where there has been incredible devastation because of a failure of an administration to take seriously a Public Health crisis and do what is necessary to support working people. We see the change coming. We know it will not, without our investment in this fight. We have a vision of the future. Our campaign and the hard work, the sacrifice we will make over the next 32 days, is born out of knowing what is possible. Thanis so much bigger fighting against something. It is about the fight we are in for something, for the people, all the people. What our fight is about. This is the thing about it, what i love about joe. You can talk about how you measure strength. Some people say, look at my muscles. That might be one way, but the thing i love about joe, he could also say yes, look at my muscles the thing about joe, he understands the greatest strengths any of us, that any human being has, is displayed when we lift up the condition of other people. [applause] that is the strength of who we are. The strength of who we are and therefore, the power of the people is knowing that when we are together, when we are unified, when we dont allow onple to divide us and turn each other, we are strong and in spite of everything we have been dont let anybody make you feel alone, dont let any circumstance make you feel isolated, because we are all in this together. We are all in this together. [cars honking] but to achieve the change we see coming, we have to vote. Honk if you are going to vote early. [cars honking] honk if youre going to vote by mail. [cars honking] sen. Harris honk if youre going to make sure at least five people you know go and vote. [cars honking] [laughter] here is the thing. None of us are immune. We have been reading, we know what is going on around the country. There are some powerful people in our country that are trying to make it difficult for folks to vote. Did you see what happened in texas yesterday . The republican governor of texas basically started getting rid of the drop boxes in texas. That is what they are doing. Here is the thing. The right to vote, the right to vote, was a hardfought and hard won right. One of the biggest events i attended before the pandemic struck was to walk across the Edmund Pettus bridge in alabama with the now great ancestor john lewis, who shed his blood on that bridge for the right to vote. We honor the ancestors when we vote. This last month we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, when those suffragettes, those powerful women, marched and fought for the right for women in america to vote. We also recognize it was not until 1965 that black women could vote, so we know there is still work to do, and we are a work in progress, but this is the history of our right to vote. Our right to vote was a hardfought and won rights which we will not like not let anybody take from us. There are obstacles around the country being put in our way. There are powerful people trying to suggest you cannot trust the process, trying to suggest it is rigged or this or that, but we know better. We know better. Heres the thing i want to also point out. At some point in addition to voting it has to be about honoring the ancestors, knowing what is at stake, and also, we have to ask, why are so many powerful people trying to mess with our right to vote . Just sit back and ask that. Why are so many powerful people going through such difficulty to try and mess with our right to vote . Here is what i believe the because they know when we vote things change. Vote, thingsn we get better. Never let anybody take your power. We will never let anybody take our power. We will use our power. We will vote. We know what is at stake and we are all in this together in this fight for the soul of our nation. It is a fight born out of love of our country. Be, unburdenedn by what has been. Thank you, nevada. Thank you. [cars honking] [cars honking] [applause] our camp aint 2020 coverage continues with candidates campaigning. Cspan, your unfiltered view of politics. Utah republican senator mike lee tested positive for covid19. Senator lee serves on the judiciary committee, supposed to bring Court Confirmation meetings in a week and a half. Earlier, House Majority leader steny hoyer talked about the legislative priorities. Madame speaker, since beginning of this congress, House Democrats have fought for the people. From lowering Health Care Costs to rebuilding america, to cleaning up corruption and strengthening democracy, House Democrats passed major legislation and have shown the American People what our priorities are. At the same time, sadly, republicans have made clear what their priorities are, priorities the American People in my view do not share. For example, on health care. For years President Trump and republicans have been telling the American People they have a plan that is better than the Affordable Care act, which will cover more americans. The president said he would cover everybody at lower cost and higher quality. Member of this house can rise and say i know what the president s bill is, because they have never seen it after three years and eight months. It is clear what their plan thely is, eliminate Affordable Care act and offer nothing in return. They continue to tell the American People, you are on your own. They tried to repeal or undermine it more than 65 times in congress. And failed. Now they try to overturn the law in court and they are attempting to ram a Supreme Court nominee through to do what they failed to do through the legislative process. After saying we ought not to consider a Supreme Court nominee in an Election Year because we should let the people speak. The people spoke in 2016 and voted for Hillary Clinton by over 3 million disparity. The public has taken care. They want to know what the Electoral College said. That is our constitution, but it is not the people speaking. A fight over this nominee is back is about the ability of americans to access quality, Affordable Health care. When democrats came into the majority, we took immediate action to defend the Affordable Care act in court and a stand up for more than 130 americans with preexisting conditions. What can we expect if republicans succeed in ending the Affordable Care act . Ending preventative free preventative screening and services, gone. Preexisting conditions without higher premiums, gone. The ability to get covered under your parents plans if you are younger than 26, gone. The ban on lifetime and annual limits of coverage, gone. That is what we are defending for the people and what we will continue to protect. Madame speaker, we took action to lower Prescription Drug costs. Not a gimmick. Not like his illegal coupon cards that endanger the future of medicare, but real action to benefit those that need more affordable Prescription Drugs. Deadly unprecedented pandemic swept across the globe and onto our shores, House Democrats led the way with a swift action by enacting four bipartisan laws and passing a fifth bill, the heroes act, 4. 5 months ago. No action in the u. S. Senate for 3. 5 months. And then a lame effort, not supported by republicans in the senate, and no democrats in the senate. President trump and the Republican Senate have locked the here blocked the heroes act. So necessary for those on unemployment, for those trying to feed their families, so necessary for small businesses, for hospital workers and those administering testing. So necessary for the states and localities hiring police, firefighters, sanitation workers. The critical personnel necessary to help confront this virus where democrats have said, we are in this together. Said, it isump has what it is. Let me say to the American People, what it is does not have to be. The democrats have shown a more andonsible way to govern make our economy work for the people. While republicans continue to make the economy work for the wealthy. That is why they are fighting about the tax provision they put into the c. A. R. E. S. Act, which we think ought to be deleted, because it is for the wealthy, not those struggling. In 2018 President Trump and a trillion enacted dollar tax cut where 83 , more than eight out of 10 americans who got relief, were some of the wealthiest people in america, the top 1 . Bill raised taxes. Taxes on also raised 86 million middleclass households. Contrast, they have democrats have tried to grow the economy. Minimum to raise the wage and ensure equal pay for equal work in women. Senator mcconnell will not bring it up. We invested in new infrastructure and clean energy that drives the growth of new, highpaying american jobs. It sits untended in the u. S. Senate and house have been working to make government more transparent and accountable. Our majority moves swiftly to pass the strongest and most comprehensive government reform legislation in decades, for the people act. Madame speaker, the house is now in order. Gentleman is correct, the house is not in order. The house will be in order. Thank you, madame speaker. That will hold government officials more accountable, increase transparency and ethical standards and increase voter protections while instituting National Redistricting proof reforms. Where is it . In the senate, left untended, unconsidered by the u. S. Senate because it is on mcconnells desks and he will not move it. While they make it harder for americans to vote and sow confusion about balloting, House Democrats passed a restoration of the john lewis act, the Voting Rights act so many fought for, demonstrated for and died for. Unfortunately, too many in this country are trying to make it more difficult, not easier, to facet of beingal a citizen in a democracy, the right to vote. 340 is one of the bipartisan bills languishing on senator mcconnells desk. He will not call them up before the senate for a vote, muzzling democracy. At 340 important bipartisan bills blocked, stalled or ignored. Madame speaker, lets not forget we began our majority in the middle of an irresponsible and damaging shut down, the longest shutdown i have experienced in the 40 years i have been here. We moved swiftly to end that the down and privatize funding bills. Last year we passed eight of the 10 appropriation bills by june 26. This year we passed eight of those 10 by july 26. Had a singles not appropriations bill. Not one, madame speaker. What have they been doing . Judge, fter judge after that is what they are doing. To serve their ideological agenda, hoping they can control through the courts that which they cannot control through the democratic process. We have shown what it means to govern for the people. Over the next few weeks americans will have a chance to choose the direction of our country. Follows in the years ahead. They know republicans have failed them. Bill. Lth care no infrastructure bill. The president said he would invest in interest infrastructure. No bill has been presented. They know our republican colleagues have failed with action and irresponsibility. They know they offered a serious agenda of leadership. And have shown ourselves always to be for the people. Madam speaker, today we will be considering a bill, were in negotiations. I hope those negotiations work. Frankly, Speaker Pelosi and secretary mnuchin reached four bipartisan deals. Mr. Meadows was not chief of staff, of course, at that point in time. Let us hope that we can reach a bipartisan deal. We were supposed to consider our heroes 2 bill, our offer, our proffer, our statement of what we think is necessary to uplift the American People, to let them know they are not on their own. We are with them, we are together. Well consider that bill today if theres not an agreement. I hope there is an agreement. I hope we have a bipartisan piece of legislation that we can pass in the near future. Because the American People need it. And thats what weve done in the past. Lets hope we can do it today control congress in january . Stay informed on competitive races leading to election day coverage. Ns 2020 watch debates and election coverage on cspan.
