Program, a night at the garden, new yorks infamous nazi rally in 1939, is part of our distinguished speakers series. I would like to thank mr. Schwartz for his great generosity among which has enabled us to bring so many fine speakers to this. [applause] i would also like to recognize and think a number of trustees who have joined us this evening. I would like to recognize our pam for heranked truly outstanding work on behalf of this institution. I want to depart for more trustees for one second to recognize her husband, who has we have had three programs this evening. Hes been to two of them. I want to congratulate him for his dedication to his wifes favorite organization. I would also like to recognize trustees. Again, slightly departing from our trustees. Recognizing a great friend of this institution. Is known to people in this audience as resident of brown. The head of the public library. All sorts of other things. He is known to us as a great friend. Thank you for joining us. This Evenings Program will last about one hour. It will include a screening of his film, as well as a question and answer session. The note cards with your questions will be collected later on. We are honored to welcome Marshall Curry back to the New York Historical society. A documentary director, cinematographer, and editor. Hes been nominated for an Academy Award four times, including this year, for his liveaction short. His other oscarnominated films fight, cory bookers first run of mayor of new jersey. Of theee falls, a story liberation front, which chronicles the radical environmental group, and the subject of tonights discussion. His films have also gotten top honors at the sundance and tribeca film festivals, and earned Writers Guild of america nominations. We are also delighted to welcome our moderator this evening, roger , and welcome him back to New York Historical. He has worked for the New York Times for three decades as a foreign correspondent, foreign editor, and columnist. He previously worked for both the wall street journal and reuters, and his writing won him a Lifetime Achievement award from britains next Century Foundation and prize from the overseas press club of new york. Hes the author of numerous books, including his latest family memoir entitled the girl from human street, ghosts of memory in a jewish family. Hes working on a novel now.
