Two felony charges against Phillip Michael Stroupe Sr. have been dropped, District Attorney Andrew Murray confirmed.
Stroupe Sr. is the father of Phillip Stroupe II, who was charged with kidnapping, first-degree murder and more than a dozen other charges across five counties following the death of Thomas Bryson in 2017.
The dismissal signed by Murray May 18 in Henderson County Superior Court says the charges, based on the same information, were dropped due to a lack of evidence that Stroupe Sr. understood or acted on information his son gave him during a prison visit about the location of Bryson's body.
Stroupe Sr. was charged with accessory after the fact of kidnapping and accessory after the fact of first-degree murder.
