Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Austin man has entered a guilty plea to a felony charge connected to a fatal traffic crash about two years ago.
33-year-old Christopher Stewart today admitted to a criminal vehicular homicide charge involving illegal drugs. In exchange, Mower County prosecutors have agreed to dismiss another count of criminal vehicular homicide and two other misdemeanor counts stemming from the May 9, 2019 crash that claimed the life of an 89-year-old man.
Stewart, who now has a Lansing address, was driving a pickup truck that collided with the elderly man's minivan at a rural intersection located about a mile south of Austin. He was taken into custody after deputies noticed signs of impairment and obtained a blood sample for testing.
