other over the next couple of days. live with me now is michael cramer. he's the town manager for carolina beach. carolina beach is about 15 miles basically due south of here. the way we're situated, because we're in wilmington, we're about 10 miles in from the coast here. when you get to carolina beach, you're a beach. you're actually on the coast. as al was saying, if this thing goes further south and it gets you with that northeast quadrant, this is the worst-case scenario for you. >> it is. it's catastrophic in the terms that we will get immense rain. we'll get immense wind, and we will have complete total destruction for our tidal surge. one of the things that makes it very difficult on the beach strand is that we have not only our beach, the oceanfront, but we also have a sound, and we get a lot of tidal flooding on a regular basis. >> that's typical of this area. this is an estuary. this will rise, and when that surge comes in, there will be a surge here in places that are surrounded by water. >> anything that's in the middle is going to go under.
