Double duty: This YHS volleyballer also plays for Spiketown club team
Siskiyou Daily News
When Julia DeLeon took up volleyball her freshman year at Etna High School, she quickly discovered she had a knack for it. Today, the six foot, 1-inch junior plays for two volleyball teams with the goal to play at the next level.
DeLeon plays for the Yreka High School Miners and also Spiketown, a club volleyball team in Medford, Ore., which travels to tournaments where she plays against top teams in places like Reno, Nevada and Salem, Ore.
“I have a passion for volleyball,” Julia said. “I like the challenge and like how it pushes me. I like how competitive it is and how I can work on getting better. I like that it’s a team sport. You have to work together to get anywhere. I just want to do what I can to help my team.”
