Anyone is response for that many dish should not remain as president of United States of america i dont make money from. I dont make money from ukraine mujib you have not released a single solitary your tax returns what are you hiding i am the least racist person you poor sure every single racist fired you have done nothing other than the crime bill which put. We have to move toward. Serial bush as he is going to try to destroy your little street will you make me that texas. Also coming up its Holiday Season in india what will that mean another spike in covert 900 cases actually but i got fed up with this. Going on and all these things thats why they are. Frustrated and they are stepping out. But we start the day in the United States where some 50000000 people have already cast their ballots number of early voters has already surpassed the early votes cast and 2016 some motivated by concerns over the coronavirus all motivated by the will to make their votes count the polls give joe biden a big National Lead over. Incumbent donald trump votes that count in the swing states that was the situation us the 2 candidates met in the final president ial debate in the nashville tennessee the meeting at chance for trump so claw back some territory. Republicans in longwood florida were thrilled with their candidates performance we love and adore him and tonight he was doing a fabulous job back in 2016 i voted against hillary not necessarily for trump but now percent on board the trunk and the biden supporters seemed equally satisfied and its hard to sum up is how do you get someone like. That he held his own he made great. And very different tone and pace defined this head to head between the president ial hopefuls gone with the chaos and constant interruptions of their 1st meeting this was more of a conventional debate with a coronavirus pandemic given the most minutes on the clock. Skirting around the dire covert 900. 00 situation offered a rosy view. It will go away and as i say were rounding it turned where rounding the corner its going away we have a vaccine thats coming its ready its going to be announced within weeks and its going to be delivered cost of shutdown by didnt condemn trumps record of dealing with the crisis 320000 americans dead and he want his response to that many of us should not remain as president of the United States of america were going to the issue of race was also in focus. Fact of the matter is there is institutional racism in america and we have always said weve never lived up to it that we hold these truths to be selfevident all men and women are created equal guess what we have never ever lived up to put it weve always constantly been moving the needle further and further to inclusion not exclusion this is the 1st president to come along and says thats the end of that nobody has done more for the black community and. And if you look with the exception of Abraham Lincoln possible exception to claim that has been repeatedly challenged by critics as patently false none the less voters finally got something resembling a substantive debate but it may be too late to have a major impact on the election result a Record Number of americans have voted early and polls show most remaining voters had already decided how theyll fill in their ballot. Our correspondents have been observation the last 4 years of u. S. Politics and of course this Years Campaign did only as Washington Bureau chief in his poll covered the election 4 years ago shes back this time around to brussels correspondent Barbara Valle has watched and agonized over europe is deteriorating relationship with the u. S. On the trumpet and retailer kuchma is our chief Political Editor here in germany where shes seen up close and the german body politic struggles to find a way of working with trumps america welcome to all of you in his lets start with you in washington what did this latest debate show us. Well it actually showed does that President Trump has the ability to sustain control if he has to probably all of us remember how he constantly interrupted his opponent during the last debate the 1st debate and that didnt play out too well for him actually he even dropped some in the polls so this time he wanted to show to those who might have been a little shaken by his behavior behavior last time that he is eligible i think that was his main goal and the main goal of the democratic candidate biden probably was too full you wanted to fulfill was to make no mistake and thats what he did. In a broad sense how would a biden presidency differ from a Trump Presidency in Foreign Policy. I think the difference couldnt be any bigger you know joe biden will approach Foreign Policy the way obama did i think and that means really normalizing the relationships between the global alliances like the e. U. And like nato he already has announced that he plans to re enter the paris climate agreement for example however i assume that he will keep pressuring germany to pay his full share to nato and he also once the e. U. To play a larger role in security in general we have to keep in mind that it was president barack obama who kind of started the start treaty leading from behind. This computer germany has used the United States as a gun tall liberal democracy for decades now is that how germany under medical sees the u. S. At the moment. Yes she still does and she does keep stressing that the United States are the closest partner for germany and europe outside the e. U. At the same time shes put more mood distance more differentiation into what is the president as in donald trump and what is the country of the United States throughout the past couple of years and that explains why she once again stressed when she mapped out her Foreign Policy for the current german presidency of the European Union that the u. S. Is the most important partner based on values and then remaining silent pretty much on how President Trump has interpreted this of these values she wouldnt say it in public but there is a perception here in berlin that he simply doesnt stand for that and thats why everybodys waiting with bated breath breath whether there could be a back to relative normal if joe biden wins these elections visit in brussels the trumpet of ministration has tried to play off your European Partners against each other much as the bush and his treasury did as this affected the. It has the effect of the e. U. But in a reverse manner because weve seen them all sort of step up there 1st was treason may having this lovely visitor in washington and then hardly had she gotten back on her plane trump sort of betrayed her publicly then he had the state visit in Great Britain and if she slagged her off to one of the National Newspapers and so others watched in shock and awe. In modern mccraw the french president giving trump a a military parade on the show as it is is something trump enjoyed enormously didnt help know it didnt and so im going to america sort of was clever enough and has been in the game long enough to sort of look at this was this say famous sideways sort of look of hers and thinking this is something i dont want to get involved in and she sort of kept her distance in the end what happened was that the youre opinion got more united than split by this because the good forged together they said ok were alone in the world and since then there has been the word that the European Union and europe had to grow up they had to sort of figure out things more on their own and thats sort of the steep learning curve they have run through during the last 4 years. I mean germany has been the focus of a lot of anger from President Trump over defense spending over the north stream gas pipeline whoever wins by not trump can germany seriously expect a reprieve in those huge issues. Well no doubt the United States will remain on a course of the United States 1st but at the same time thats how the United States have always acted but what changed is that suddenly alliances longstanding commitments like with many like with europe seemed conditional they seemed transactional particularly when it came to nato thats also an undercurrent in the whole issue of the north stream pipeline which is hugely unpopular in europe as well donald trump clearly also wants to see germany take more liquid gas from the United States so their economic interests behind that but what we would expect and could expect from joe biden because hes said so that he would revisit many policy areas Foreign Policy areas is that the whole Strategic Thinking in terms of alliances and all those said values would come back into the equation rather than playing political hardball which is something that europe despite everything is still getting to grips with so is germany actually lets go back to washington is there a sense in washington that President Trump has also bill loss of trust between the u. S. And its traditional allies. That we have lost the line there. So we go to Barbara Barbara you are also covering nato there in brussels a key Foreign Policy official in germanys government said today that a 2nd term of trump would quote grind down nato is that the view there. As well. And not officially of course because officially nato doesnt have a view on anything i mean. The nato secretary general his middle name is cautious i mean he is more diplomatic he then goes off diplomats he does not even dared to say anything in that direction because Everybody Knows they need to is short short of sort of implosion look at the problems it has was turkey i mean is this really severe and nato members like france and turkey have been squaring off in the midst reunion this summer so it isnt in nature this in a really really difficult spot if the u. S. Carries on like you did the last 4 years on the trunk if you should be reelected the future of the alliance is in doubt. And now we have reestablished the line to this poll in washington even is there a sense in washington the president from past lost trust with the major traditional allies of the u. S. Here in europe. It sure is scared but it really matters to him you talk whether people like that or not libertarians for example highly support donald trump approach as they really want to stay out of all International Relations they think europe for example should take care of itself but if you talk to Business People the chamber off call verse they are very unhappy with drums policy they want to pay less in taxes but they want to do business abroad and that means obviously or is only possible if Business Partners can rely on each other. Lets come back to you the u. S. Are not really seen as a reliable ally animal here in germany what could be the consequences more german leadership as many in europe seem to be a mom. Yes well thats what many are hoping for and germany remains a reluctant leader but clearly the leaders sitting around the Table Including germany have recognized that its time to define own strength and this is something that i know from. Question time with journalists this year that when push comes to shove the question is does europe in the end have to decide whether it goes with china or the United States thats a question that everybody here is afraid of and it is the moment to discover and invest in european strength thats also something Angela Merkel the chancellor whos term comes to an end comes in and at the end of next year has recognized so yes you will see more leadership but now everybodys hoping for some kind of return to traditional channels of communication at least. Thats come back to you jump of by really a clash over Climate Change debate given the European Commission she was left on the line was made for the Climate Change a key policy goal is there any way of saying which i would she would like to see win the election. You think im a mind reader i think. Is not the only european leader who every night in their nightly prayers hoop to the heavens that something might happen in washington that will not be a return and reprisal of the last round so yes of course she won somebody else of course almost every european leader to be honest want a change in washington because what you hear most from diplomats here Climate Change or whatever the topic may be we call somebody in washington then after a certain time we finally manage to speak with someone then 4 weeks later that person was already gone again its the unpredictability of a policy in washington that was maybe the worst currys of the last 4 years taking the european view because what they are trying is to establish channels to to have some reliability that never happened and so everybody had to ask themselves every month where we stand whats happening are we having another trade war is this guy going to fall in so yes Climate Change and what ever issue the relationship to china would ever International Global issue you pick everybody hopes this might not continue but is there anywhere gauging what was all political bulletin would like to see on november. Well its exactly as barbara says i mean nobody will say this into a camera certainly not the german chancellor Angela Merkel but she 1st saw would like to see joe biden when shes worked with him also in the Obama Administration when he was Vice President we saw donald trump in that latest debate with joe biden there say that look im not a traditional politician and thats what got me elected and a traditional politician is what everybody here in germany is longing for and the big question now is what the United States what the people of the u. S. Will long for this time around. Leads me nicely to my last question to him is in washington if you cross the u. S. From coast to coast when you covered 26 elections youve done the same this time whats different. Look we have to keep in mind the United States has always been a country full of contradictions and because of the political system with only 2 major parties there has always been a division between those 2 groups but i have never seen the division so diva as i did this time the biggest difference probably is that it is all about feelings it doesnt really matter to whom where you speak with people americans are overtaking by their anger some of them are also overtaken by their fear and the problem is that facts sort of matter anymore and there is no tolerance square anymore wherever people really can come together to discuss different political viewpoints so that is really the biggest biggest difference to 4 years ago but i also really want to point out at this point this United States is so much bigger than donald trump and that is something we experienced during over our road trip we met so many wonderful people who helped each other especially in this time of crisis so i think we must not forget them when we discuss this United States in the correspondence in this poll in washington in berlin above a visit in brussels thank you all very much. Also india now to sponsor a rapid rise in cases in september the daily covert 19 case count is now plummeting and the government claims the country with the 2nd highest number of cases after the u. S. Is now past its peak but the Holiday Season that leads up to the wali has now taken off and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appeal to the people to continue taking precautions. Monti manhunt that grew up on stage pushed watching her father perform and then joining him at the age of 14. Every year for over a decade marjorie has participated in this Festive Season production of the hindu epic opera mayan. Many are the shores have been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. But thanks to extensive precautions taken by what he had to accompany the bar 3 oclock in the march the streak remains unbroken heres a thought maybe after spending almost 7 months on the lockdown when an artist comes on stage again its a different kind of joy we are thrilled that we are able to perform its a really big deal to us that we can take to the stage again stage from him in that the artists here with death to 2 weeks before the show started and then again closer to the date they have been given the option of staying at the Theater Institute if they choose to isolate from their families during the time of the show. As for audiences only a 3rd of the usual capacity is permitted. Temperature checks im sanitization told the calls are being strictly followed. Even on a smaller scale this production is a reminder of normalcy it has been a tradition in the run up to the body for over 60 years but its not yet time to celebrate. After recording close to 100000. 00 cases every day in the middle of September India daily care found have come down significantly there are concerns however that gathering during the Festive Season will cause another spike. The discipline off the theater is completely missing in the festive markets crowds are strong here for the seasons shopping and seals. Social distancing and temperature checks seem a distant reality. For people here only the festive cheer seems to be infectious and palatable things are much better now many more customers are showing up because again while the it feels like the old times in this market theres more to the mindset is all teens no goal weight is nothing like a heart or now the scene is said like simple everyone is going to what you can see out on this so much of actually but i got fed up with this logged on and all these things thats why they are. Just dated and they are stepping out. Of the stage was frustrating for marjorie too and she is hopeful that there wont be any more long absences. The epochal from mayan speaks of the victory of good over evil. A valuable message she says during a pandemic. To south africa now where the hillbrow district of johannas berkus infamous for many raised struggles violence prostitution you get the picture but many in the neighborhood are determined to change that one group of residents meets every week because the ones who are brought to be famous for something thats actually quite ordinary clean streets and green parks africas ugly and quiche went up with some of. Im glad of us welcome to the program u. S. President says donald trump and his democratic challenger joe biden half faced off in a final t. V. Debate less than 2 weeks before election day the exchange was a lot more civil than the ill tempered 1st debate coronavirus pandemic dominated the agenda along with Race Relations taxes and the economy. Republicans in longwood florida were thrilled with their candidates performance we love and adore him and tonight he was doing a fabulous job back in 2016. I voted against hillary not necessarily for trump but now i am 100 percent on board the trump train but biden supporters seemed equally satisfied and its hard to sum up is how do you get someone like john i think that he held his own he made great employment a very different tone and pace to find this head to head between the president ial hopefuls gone with the chaos and constant interruptions of their 1st meeting this was more of a conventional debate with a coronavirus pandemic given the most minutes on the clock. Skirting around the dire coded 1900 situation offered a rosy view. It will go away and as i say were rounding the turn where rounding the corner its going away we have a vaccine thats coming its ready its going to be announced within weeks and its going to be delivered cost of shutdown by didnt condemn trumps record of dealing with a crisis a few 120000 americans dead and he want his response for that many of us should not remain as president of the United States of america were going to the issue of race was also in focus. Fact of the matter is there is institutional racism in america and we have always said weve never lived up to it that we hold these truths to be selfevident all men and women are created equal guess what we have never ever lived up to put it weve always constantly been moving the needle further and further to inclusion not exclusion this is the 1st president to come along and says thats the end of that nobody has done more for the black community. And if you look with the exception of Abraham Lincoln possible exception a claim that has been repeatedly challenged by critics as patently false nonetheless voters finally got something resembling a substantive debate but it may be too late to have a major impact on the election result a Record Number of americans have voted early and polls show most remaining voters had already decided how theyll fill in their ballot. Our correspondents all of us all it is in washington for us all of us and a clear winner in this debate. Well most of the polls scare hard see joe biden as the winner but it really depends because if you look at right wing media they think of President Trump did a good job here in part because he was less aggressive than what we seen of him in the 1st debate and in that town hall that came instead of the 2nd debate and that in part also because of the mute button that was introduced as a new rule last night for the 1st time in the history of president ial debates also President Trump might have listened to his advisors who strongly encouraged him to lower his temper here the moderator did a very good job as well biden in contrast was not very strong in that debate but he did come across president ial as a unifier with mary americans all longing for right now he also did not do any major mistakes now what stood out here at this debate really was the amount of misleading claims made in particular by President Trump a lot was out of context taken out of context or straight out false information now by then of course also had some false claims there but certainly not to the to the extent that the president did and now there were lots of conspiracy theories also put forward by President Trump that may work very well within trump space but a majority or a lot of people here in america are increasingly growing tired of that kind of rhetoric. But was just 11 days to go until the election all about are there any undecided voters left that could have been swayed by these performances. So a fairly small amount of on this side of voters looking at a very polarized society as you know gary hart a majority of the voters made up their minds weeks before these debates took place and the general wisdom also in these debates is that they have little impact on voters decision and now another problem that the Trump Campaign is facing right now is early voting because because because of the pandemic were seeing a record turnout here already 50000000 voters have cast their ballots and they are they of course cannot change their minds anymore stay with us for a moment because i want to talk about another big thing thats happened thats trump was key in orchestrating saddam has pledged to normalize relations with israel and will become the 1st arab state to establish ties with israel under the u. S. Brokered deals this year u. S. President of trump announced the agreement on friday u. S. Settable remove saddam from the list of state sponsors of terrorism if khartoum compensates us victims of terror attacks and especially recently also brokered diplomatic ties between israel and the United Arab Emirates and. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the deal and i hope. Today we declare another dramatic breakthrough for peace another arab country joined some circles. This time. What a Great Development in the courtroom they adopted in 1673 knows of the arab. Peace of israel no recognition of israel and no negotiations with israel i mean you know you day to me saying yes to peace with israel yes to recognition of israel and yes or no man is a should be 0 this is a new era you dont choose who peace is proceeding with 3 our countries in the last few weeks will show most members who want to hold him well if the u. S. Brokered this deal what was in it for washington. Well the same that was in the deal with the United Arab Emirates that the trumpet ministration brokered donald trump urgently needs Success Stories in Foreign Policy as you know it did not go very well for him for all of large parts of his presidency who just remember north korea iran also russia if you take a closer look now at the deal made and it is looks very much like a deal made here between the United States and sudan then saddam was taken off a list of a sponsor of terrorism list and also don is trying to make clear that has nothing to do with the new relationship between israel and the sudan but what we do have figure is economic advantages ever taken off that list and it looks like its a deal in exchange for Foreign Policy for a Foreign Policy Success Story for the Trump Administration in an effort of course to strengthen trumps position as we are moving closer to the election. All of us on that thank you. Back here in europe governments scrambling to contain an alarming resurgence of the coronavirus today france became the 2nd european comforters apostles 1000000 confirms infections following spain earlier this week several other countries are also setting fresh records for daily cases crisis is prompting leaders across the continent to tighten restrictions imposed lockdowns one small are reports start in the belgian capital brussels. The world waits for a vaccine a German Company cured back reports some promising early results in preClinical Trials the drug maker says it wants to make an affordable job but has to balance the hospital with investor expectations. Also coming up women are carrying a heavier burden than that and turning them on to make a new report sheds light on the size of the imbalance. And to lose the Coronavirus Infection floor in europe Tourist Destinations braced for a talk with target. This is the deltas those im paid for it from thanks for joining me we begin with a development in the race to develop a covert 19 vaccine German Biotech Company cure a box says the vaccine it is working on had shown promising a new responses in Clinical Trials on animals the company which is backed by the bill and Melinda Gates foundation is currently conducting tests on humans ont is expected to publish initial data. Shares in the Company Worth several percent up on the news. Lets go straight to the financial correspondent in new york hi yeah and no cure back went public in the u. S. In the summer its promising an affordable vaccine but surely it must want to be meeting the demands of investors as well. Sure investors want to cash their suit out about it i remember the i. P. O. Where we are well i was there we porting on times square from another start because thats the Tech Exchange where cure of it did go public but also all of the company is getting money from the German Government for instance they received a ground in the amount of 300000000. 00 and if the visine should be proven to be successful so maybe more money from other governments might be following and then really clearly on the pricing we have to wait and see and if the visiting children work maybe the sheer quantity of coach help that also investors eventually will be happy since the side of the stock hasnt really done that much at least here on the friday session the stock was up by 2 percent. And d. N. C. Can see even from behind the effects of the economic crisis there in the u. S. But lets get back to hear that and its one of Many Companies that is working on a vaccine at the moment who are the other big players on what stage of development their trials are. You know the f. D. A. Actually gave the green light for rem their severe from even if they thought of his seeing that treatment other than that there seemed to be 2 companies in the drivers seat who were in the late phases of stage 3 trial that the German Company beyond tech together was the u. S. Partner pfizer and it is moderna and those companies actually could be ready versus they received was in a couple of weeks and then we have to see how messed distribution works if the visine and how well it works and if people actually will be ready to take it so still a couple of question marks but especially those 2 companies so pfizer together was beyond thick and more dire and actually they seem to be ahead in the race for overseas. It is court in new york thanks very much and have a great weekend a report by a Consulting Firm mckinsey has highlighted how the pandemic is affecting women in the workplace the Bottom Line Companies are at risk of losing female talent the study found that 76 percent of mothers who have children under the age of 10 say childcare is one of their top 3 challenges during a covert 1000. 00 compare that with 54 percent of fathers its no surprise then that 17 percent of working moms are thinking about reducing their working hours but only 9 percent of fathers are 16 percent of mothers are thinking about switching to less demanding jobs to juggle work and family but thats an option for only 11 percent of men finally 7 percent of mothers are considering leaving the workforce altogether thats a move far fewer fathers said they would be willing to make. Lets get deeper into this with Alexis Kris Kobach managing partner at Mckinsey San Francisco Office and one of the authors of that report says no your report mentions the specific challenges that women of color women with disabilities are experiencing during this pandemic tell me a little bit more about that. Absolutely so women of color and women with disabilities already faced more challenges in the Workplace Environment in fact they were far more likely to say that they experience being an only often in the workplace which comes with a much higher pressure to perform and much greater scrutiny on your activities but in the context of this pandemic its even worse there are at twice as likely to be experiencing high levels of stress and exhaustion and in fact women with disabilities in particular are the most likely to say they feel uncomfortable sharing these challenges in the Workplace Environment and that puts them at risk of missing out on critical opportunities for advancement and even feeling discouraged and like they need to leave the workforce entirely. Lets talk about the role of men here especially when it comes to child care what can companies do to encourage more men to step up. Well the 1st situation we need to accept is that we dont have an equal Playing Field when it comes to women and mens home responsibilities that allow them to be fully present in the workplace so already we saw that women were doing a double shift before kovan 19 but now mothers in particular are saying theyre spending an extra 3 hours a day on household responsibilities you have that up across a week thats 20 hours thats another half time job theyre not doing a double double and the challenge is men dont see this so 70 percent of fathers think theyre doing half their work at home but only 40 percent of women would agree with that statement so Companies Need to accept that their responsibilities at home are equal and they need to think about how theyre evaluating employees in that context and creating boundaries so that female workers can remain in the game and alexa frankly what advice would you give to a woman right now who through the struggling to strike that balance between work and home life. Yeah its such a challenging moment you know the 1st piece of advice i give is make sure you are getting the fair help that you need in the workplace and at home that means having honest conversations in your home environment about how much work there is to go around but also in the workplace ensuring that youre not taking on too many of the office tasks that many women get asked to do on behalf of the company as a whole what we see that is that women particularly senior women are far more likely to be playing critical roles of ally ship and support in the organization we need those roles but we need our men to step up in the same way and so i ask for that and the 2nd piece is theres a tremendous amount of exhaustion and burnout in particular for women but its true overall encouraging women to stay in the game but care for your Mental Health and your energy those feelings are real and we really need to support our women through this moment some for the tips that i like those way to thank you so much thanks for having me.
