The ncaa president , mark emrett, stating the ncaa a is uniquely positioned to modify its rules to ensure fairness and a level Playing Field for student athletes. The boards action today creates a path to enhance opportunities for student athletes while ensuring they compete against students and not professionals. This comes after pressure including from california which passed a law earlier this year prohibiting schools in the state from punishing their athletes for accepting endorsement money. A plan by North Carolina senator richard burr to tax scholarships for College Athletes who profit off their name and likeness. He tweeted if college at athletes are going to make money off theyve likeness while in school, their scholarships should be treated like income.
