States, again launching these initiatives right now to really unwind this process. By the end of the week the country as a whole will be 50 freer, if you will, or less locked down when all of this started. So that is a Big Development here. As people get back, a lot of them look forward to the memorial day weekend which they can see themselves going to beaches and the rest. The trend is share friend. Certainly concerner of wall and broad a very big trend at that. Well pick that apart with technology action, retail action, oil action. That has been dancing today. It is interesting to point out right now the dow and the s p and the nasdaq, forget about the nasdaq, already in positive territory on the year, it is not more than 5 from alltime highs, my friends, alltime highs. When you look at the dow and the nasdaq, they are respectfully down 13 , 9 , from where they started, when all of this was careening. Think about that, how much of a comeback the markets have seen. A lot of it built on optimism and reopening going on across the country. As i said all 50 states are in one way, shape, or form, reopening things. So lets get a read on all of that with Jackie Deangelis who has been following it very, very closely. Jackie. Reporter good afternoon, to you, neil, when it comes to reopening all states are not created equal. Each state has different impact with respect how the virus hit its inhabitants. Having said that were hearing from kentucky and connecticut. In connecticut theyre saying restaurants can open outdoor seating only. Retail offices, Outdoor Recreation activities, these can resume. Neil, this isnt just a story were reporting on dropping in somewhere. This is a story were living as well. I will share an anecdote with you. On the weekend we tried to have dinner with another couple. We socially distanced outside t was dark. It was cold. We had the takeout but the experience was pretty much unenjoyable so it was cold out. So somebody im not going to be doing in the foreseeable future. It needs to warm up before the outdoor seating become as lure for people. In kentucky retail can go to 33 capacity. Houses of worship can reopen. Funeral, Memorial Services will be allowed. New rules of course with some of those things. But also consider what you mentioned with respect to retail. A lot of retailers doing well are still the essential. Theyre selling things that people need at home. You know, were showing pictures of people in malls and shopping centers. Im really wondering if when state the fully reopen if people will draw the line between what is necessary and what is sort of discretionary for them. I also wonder if they think to themselves, maybe better to save a little money right now, especially if they have been out of work with so much uncertainty. So many analysts are speaking talking about the notion, yeah the stores will reopen but they may have to close again if they cant run numbers fully. That is something to think about. You mentioned the fact memorial day is coming. Were talking about beaches. New jersey, despite some orders will open beaches to be open this weekend. There are still states under complete lockdown. Delaware, illinois, michigan, new jersey. The lockdown, theyre sort of telling you to stay home, doing smaller things to open up. It is all a start. It is a slow reopening in some cases. Well really have to see how the it pans out. Wall street can get overexcited at times, you have a little bit of a rally on our hands today. Well see how it goes. Back to you. Neil thank you very much, Jackie Deangelis. There are a lot of state has have this, very imposing restrictions that make it very tough for local store owners to ever advance. Some of them protest that, open up on their own, including my next guest who runs nutrition owner there. Look i got to open and he did. He was served i think with a summons on that in oxford, massachusetts because the rules are he cant do that. David, thank thank you for join. When you were approached yesterday, david. What were you told . Say that again . You kind of broke up. Neil that is okay. What were you told, youre staying open, you shouldnt be open, the governor said you cant be doing that. Did they, did they come by serve you a ticket, what . They came by on monday to serve me a verbal warning. On tuesday they gave me a written warning. During the warning no mask, no gloves, none of the guidelines been set he followed. Neil this is the third day that youve been open, then against the state requirements. Has anyone stopped by to pay you a visit today . No. That should be this afternoon. Neil okay. What did they say they would do if they came by today . Today would be a fine, i believe 50, or 300. He said a couple different numbers. But he is, my members and gofundme page donated to pay anything. Neil what are the plans right now . The governor has said that this sort of thing isnt supposed to happen for a while, at least another couple weeks, that right . Yes. But actually, if you look at the cdc guidelines, gyms are in phase one. So governor baker is completely ignoring that. Neil so you taken all the precautions right now at your gym to be, not only healthconscious but distancing rules, everything is cleaned up, you know, tell me what youre doing that could allay some of their concerns . Yeah. So i mean what i did i resolved back to what i did prior to the shut down, limiting capacity. One hour max time frames. Were doing extra cleaning on top of that as well. It worked perfectly before. So i saw no problem going back to that. Neil are you getting a lot of customers coming in . A lot. A lot of people are trying to join. Were not accepting any members, just, regular members. No day passes. No new members. Trying to keep everything flowed correctly. Hopefully other gyms can follow. Neil all right. The Compliance Officer went to see you yesterday, we all have a to play making this safe as possible. They say youre making that difficult. You say what . I dont believe im not [inaudible] how are people supposed to pay their bills . If my business is going to shut down, now what . Neil all right. I wish you well. There could be customers phoning. You can never be the governor reminding you shouldnt be open in the first place. David, thank you very much. Hang in there. Hopefully this is resolved without any ridiculous fines or sometimes they can throw at you. Well follow this one closely. David london of prime fitness and nutrition owner there in massachusetts. Jeff flock is also following some other developments that might have been lost in all of this. Surprisingly good news out of lowes. Reminder when you combine that with what is happening in particular lowes no in particular no one saw those good numbers coming. It might be a preview of combing attractions. Jeff flock has more from chicago. Reporter we dont like to pick winners and losers but in some kay ways we kind of did an some stores are essential businesses and able to be open and others are not. Lowes came in with betterthanexpected earnings. They thought they would be like most places, samestore sales for the quarter were expected to be up 3 . What was it . It was up 11. 2 . Even bigger in the u. S. , up 12. 3 in the u. S. It is the first time lowes has beaten home depot in samestore sales in the last year. So good news for them. Lowes tends to have stores that are more in rural locations than home depot. Home depot has a lot in more urban areas. That may explain some of that. Just a huge thing for them. Online sales, not surprisingly up 80 . And so, you know, we had the discussion before, i showed you some pictures of my home renovation escapades but a lot of people with time on their hands at home, looking at their houses going, oh, man, i always wanted to paint that wall, i always wanted to fix that fence. They have gone, i hate to admit it, i spent a lot of time at home depot and lowes over the course of the past couple months. Not that i dont plan ahead. Most people do. They get everything they need. Sometimes you go every day. But either way you want to stack it up, big win for lowes and maybe pentup demand in the future. Neil. Neil learn something new about you every day, jeff. You always struck me as someone who has a s. W. A. T. Team of contractors at bid and call. Im a contractor, baby. Im the guy. Im very good at hard work. Takes my mind off this work. Neil all right. You have to educate me about which is which, plus or minus screwdriver. I always screw that up. Well talk more about that. Jeff flock, he is the best. Very handy too. Were looking how the markets are receiving all of this, whether theyre handy. They like the fact people are buying. Theyre out there in droves. Walmart, of course you heard about that, heard about target, online sales are off the charts. Heard about amazon once again hitting alltime high today. There are stellar performers. There folks like kohls not keeping up and a whole lot of others entering bankruptcy like j. Crew and jcpenney. If you have a Good Business plan, good online model, that could be the financial wind at your back. Mark avalon, Potomac Wealth Advisors president following all of this. What do you think of the consumer . Obviously she can kind of pick and choose where they want to do their buying. The early read is some of those names i mentioned are where theyre doing buying. Are you surprised . No, im not surprised, neil, because a lot of other retail was shut down. Before we look at these numbers and think, because targets numbers are up other amazons numbers are up on the top line that the consume he is flush with cash and eager to spend. Virtually every momandpop retailer on main street was shut down. If you needed clothes you went to target. While you were there, you did groceries. The Common Thread between target and relatively strong numbers and lowes, lowes, you dont usually shop for things at lowes at amazon. So theyre protected there. Groceries are at target and walmart. The fact kohls struggled is more indicative when youre not in either one of those two spaces. Neil home depot gets a bum rap. Impacted by all the money that they spent to keep workers safe. Im not saying lowes didnt do that. Home depot unfairly brushed by that in a bad way that doesnt really warrant it. Well, even target mentioned very clearly that the costs of keeping stores clean and paying more of these front line workers is going to be a real issue for earnings and thats a real stock issue. I think when i look what happened with home depot and the strong numbers at lowes, remember lowes appeals more to consumers and home depot generally appeals more to contractors. Studies have shown women shoppers are more comfortable in a lowes than home depot. It makes sense if people are stuck at home, doing their own purchases, versus a commercial contractor, that lowes would have a little tiff outperformance. Neil thank you, mark. Mark avalon on that. The dow sprinting ahead. Nasdaq continuing to advance t has a yeartodate gain. Who would have thunk. About 4 from alltime highs. Nasdaq is that close to alltime highs. Stay with us. So i listen to audible almost any time that i can. Its my own thing that i can do for me. Since i dont have time to read, i mean i might as well listen. If i want to catch up on the news, or history, or learn whats going on in the world, i can download a book and listen to it. I listen to spanish lessons sometimes to and from work. Yea, it makes me want to be better. Audible reintroduced this whole world to me. It changes your perspective. It makes you a different person. See what listening to audible can do for you. I come face to face with a lot of behinds. So i know theres a big need for gasx maximum strength. It works fast. Relieving pressure, bloating, and discomfort before you know it. So no one needs to know youve got gas. Gasx any day get green light from fda. Face three start in july. It is possible, assuming a bestcase scenario, there are many risks that could derail us obviously, well be in a position to end of year or next year. Again, bestcase scenario. Neil all right. Just a thought maybe this might not happen so quickly hit moderna stock yesterday. Rebounded today, on hopes a vaccine could be ready by end of the year, or early next year. That has always been out there. Dr. Jen caudill, family physician, Rome University professor. Always good to have you. How much are you bets on this . I know there is a lot of different possibilities out there, treatments, vaccines. There tends to get the most attention. What do you think . Neil, i am hopeful. You know, i think that it is reasonable for us all to be hopeful but we have to weigh that hope with realities, right . You know, trials are not done. Yes, it seems that there was some promising data from we just received about this particular vaccine candidate. But honestly i read the press release. I dont have, all the data not presented here. You cant look at it with a finetooth comb. There are more trials to go through with the particular vaccine candidate. Neil, we have to mention, keep in perspective we never have had a vaccine produced this fast. We know it takes years and years to make vaccines. Not to say we cant do it here, but we have to remember the overall context. However, look there is a lot of resources being poured into a vaccine right now. We are working very hard to get a number of vaccine candidates that are potentially viable so we have options and sort of ramp up production that would be needed. I know im sort of talking on both sides of my mouth right now, im saying pros and cons overall. I am optimistic. I am hopeful. But we as always have to wait and see. Neil no. Youre being very cautious. And you want to see data. Theres a concept but let me ask you, doctor, about the reopening going on, all 50 states. In fact it is very aggressive. I think by the end of the week in alaska, it will be fully opened, fully. Yeah. Neil the pacing of this, everything else, what do you think of how it is all going and sorting out . You and i talked about this week over week, a few weeks ago, i told you, how are we talking about reopening when we have cases still soaring . I talked about cognitive dissonance that created in myself. Every week is different. Every week is new. That is a good thing with coronavirus that we learn more. Look, we still have a ways to go in this pandemic. Were still in a pandemic. States have a long ways to go. Not every community is dropping in cases. Some sort of stalled. Some are going down but some are not. Theyre going up. The thing is we are reopening. Honestly whether i think we should or not. So what im telling my patients, what im telling my followers and to you, neil, your audience, this, no matter what is happening where we live, we have to remember social distance something our best friend. Aside from that, following the guidelines of our local and state governments because theyre really determining what were allowed to do. But on top of that remembering just because your area may be opening up doesnt mean you have to open up with it if youre not comfortable or the right thing to do. We still have choice in this. That is what i want people, i want them to utilize that choice, really make right decisions for them and their family. Neil you know, there are a lot of Older Workers in particular, doctor, who feel, yeah, i think we should get back to work but im in that Vulnerable Group that could be affected, if i am rushed back too soon, i worried if my boss looks askance, they worry about that, good number, emailed, that sort of thing. They always want to know the latest. I dont know what to say outside of playing to your comfort level. The paces of this is going to be that group will be among the last to return to work anyway. Maybe that is why they feel vulnerable . Well you know, that may certainly be the case, you know, they probably also feel vulnerable perhaps because they might be from a medical standpoint, underlying medical condition. Neil right. As a Family Doctor ive been seeing patients all throughout the pandemic, doing telemedicine on computer and smartphone, things like that and i had a number of patients say they were afraid to go to work because of their underlying resume fallujah call condition or canner patient and things like that. That is tough boat to navigate. Lets be very clear, in addition to that pressure people need to live. No one is out here saying we can do without jobs, because that is not the case. It is for a very few. Most of us need to work. You have that compounding, people need their jobs or afraid losing them if they dont show up to work. Im not saying this is a simple scenario, but i would say for anybody who may feel like they are in that boat, you have got certain medical conditions, youre having issues with work, whatever, involve your health care provider. I cant say that there is something we can do but we might be able to help in some ways. And so i hope my other colleagues dont mind me saying this, look, this is a joint, a team effort. Especially if you were put at risk because of underlying medical conditions it behooves you to talk to us what youre going through. If we can help we will. Neil all right. To your point were still registering 1500, a few thousand deaths per day in the country, if you balance that, what you think is the right thing to do versus maybe something can backfire on you. Doctor, thank you always. I always learn a lot. Dr. Jen caudill, family physician. She calls it as she sees it which is rare among doctors these days. I try. Neil you do. And i appreciate that. Well have a little bit more of that and the impact of all of this. Imagine being a governor weighing with all of this, you have to weigh what the doctor said and economically keeping your state going that battle and how the governor of connecticut is dealing with it right after this. Right now even though a number of airlines will say they will do everything they cannot to overcrowd their planes, even partiallyfilled planes are better than those not filled at all but the fact of the matter the Airline Industry is still feeling that pinch. Even as aid, about 90 billion of aid promised yet to reach them. That one startled me. Edward lawrence, is that true . The aid already written into the stimulus hasnt gotten to them . Reporter not quite. There is some aid that has actually come to the airlines but the House Oversight committee is correct when they do say that the 46 billion set aside for the bailout money has not yet reached the airlines. In fact a senior treasury official confirms that for me, it actually has not reached the airlines there. That official saying that they might have announcement on that next week. Now the senior treasury official also telling me that they wanted to focus on the program that keeps workers in their jobs first. The cares act set aside 25 billion for Passenger Air carriers under the Payroll Support Program where most of that money has been sent to the airlines. Delta ceo says the program money will pay for employees until september 30th. He adds all the government economy will be critical. We need it to see what the other side of this pandemic looks like before we took any drastic actions with respect to eliminating jobs or dramatically impairing our ability to respond when the economy is ready to reopen. So our government, there is no government in the world has been as responsive, im proud to say. It has kept all the Major Airlines in business. Reporter he does not see domestic air carriers going under but sees a restructuring after this. Big demand increase could cut down number of layoffs. Industry experts say a third of airline employees could be let go. Airline Industry Group says 50 of airline fleets are sitting idle for the past seven days. For us air carriers, right now there is 74 reduction in domestic flights and a 93 reduction in international flights. The demand has dried up. The money is not coming in. They still have to pay on airplanes. They still have to pay employees. They still have to pay airports for docking fees there. The Balance Sheets of airlines does not look good right now. Neil. Neil thank you. I didnt realize it was that kind of jumbled. Edward lawrence, thank you my friend, thank you very much. I want to go to connecticuts ed lamont, governor, always good to have you. Youve been pushing back some of the reopenings a little bit. Can you update me what was behind when it came to salons more to june than like this week . Well, lets put it in context, neil. We kept our manufacturing open, unlike a lot of our neighbors. We kept construction open, obviously essential industries. Today, as a matter of fact outdoor dining, nonessential retail, were opening all of that. We did push off hair salons, barbershops for another 10 days so we can coordinate it with neighbors like rhode island and massachusetts. Neil i see. What do you do, governor, when someone ignores you or a business ignores you . We seen this pop up in a lot of states. We talked to a massachusetts gym owner the other day and new jersey Fitness Center owner. You heard with the woman in texas with salon opening it early. She was thrown in jail briefly before the governor got her out. How do you handle that as governor, despite warning after warning they ignore you . I hope the consumers say i dont want to go into a store like that. It is the wrong thing to do. I hope the vast majority of mayors know what were trying to do. But youre right, there are a couple of outlyers making a name for themselves. People are very frustrated but i really think it is the consumers who will be making the call on this, neil. I think they will go back, go book cautiously. I think theyre probably smart about that. I have a two in one hotline. People are calling that if they see a store not following protocols or in defiance of protocols and well respond. Neil you know, people forget, you can understand the protests, governor, you and i gotten into this in the past and other states have to deal with that, when the protesters defy, they want to open up, i can well understand why, well take the risk. Youre taking a risk that is it going to affect others as well, you might be gungho doing this but you could expose others. Im wondering given the pace of these reopenings, all 50 states, now yours being included, youre being very deliberate about it, you worry that it could backfire . That youre almost doing this too fast . No. I think weve got the right pace. I do worry about the protesters. They say, i dont have to wear a mask. You cant make me wear a mask. The mask is not about protecting you. It is about protecting everybody you come in contact with that is the message im trying to get. You know, more importantly i think were doing this in a very methodical way. We had amazing scientific community, seek emanuel, Scott Gottlieb came in yesterday. Appropriate how youre doing it. Especially outdoor activities, outdoor restaurants that is 95 safe than being inside. Neil some can do that. That they have outdoor seating sidewalks or areas where they can do that. Other restaurants are not so lucky, they feel theyre at a disadvantage. What do you tell them, governor . I tell them weve got amazing mayors. Theyre shutting down streets. Allowing you to expand into sidewalk areas, bringing that downtown to life a little bit. There is a lot less traffic now. So it is easy to do. I hope the local municipalities working with each and everyone of the restaurants, making it work for them. Neil what about the fall . I know school year is over here. What about the fall . Different reads in different states. South looks like school year will rao he assume normal in most of the states. What about connecticut, your feeling about the fall . I think we, i think the summer is more predictable in terms of where we go and virus mitigates, provided we keep our strong fiscal discipline, physical discipline. I worry a little bit about the fall. I heard a lot about the possibility of another flu season. Possibility of some flareups, october, november. Zeke and scott were warning us about that yesterday. For thenally well have a lot of testing and pppe. If it happens. Neil positive, you have done yeomans work, slowly getting your beautiful state back to business. Well see how that goes. Very good chatting with you again. Governor ned lamont of connecticut. Thank you, neil. Neil we have a lot more coming up here, including businesses are starting to reopen. Neil in the United States senate a bill would delist Chinese Companies appearing on u. S. Stock exchanges. This of course in retaliation against the chinese, the argument they lied about the severity of coronavirus and hoodwinked us to the degree they couldnt be trusted and now must be punished. A number of states attorney generals are separately trying to extract money, suing a sovereign government, that might be uphill battle, going after Chinese Companies on u. S. Listed exchanges is another way to let it be known. The impact too soon to tell. Those issues under pressure given the bad blood between our two countries, anything can and probably will happen. Go to Charlie Gasparino has breaking news concerning at t and directv, i believe. Sir . Yeah, the stock is moving on this report as it was on twitter and cavuto coast to coast. What were getting, neil. We spoke with at t, they wont comment but bankers are commenting that at t, that they believe at t will have to offload its directv satellite tv unit soon. Here is what theyre saying. At t is coming under tremendous shareholder pressure to cut costs. It has high debt loads already. It has to get into 5g. They have a very underperforming asset known as directv, losing subscribers left and right. They have to figure out a way to get it off its Balance Sheet and get some of the debt off its Balance Sheet. As you remember, at t purchased directv back in 2016. It was, they way overpaid for it. They will not get tens of billions of dollars they paid for it in this deal. The best they can hope for is something along the lines of what was pitched earlier in the year. We broke the story first. It was a deal that apollo was approaching at t with, and basically saying this, apollo big private equity firm, basically saying this, well spin off directv into a separate unit. Well merge it with charlie ergens dish, another underperforming satellite operator, we can create a separate company. We can handle the debtload. It will be private. Somewhat not under the microscope of shareholders to repair its business. That is the type of deal that bankers are saying that at t will have to do now, given what is going on in the markets. As you know, at t like every company right now is under tremendous pressure to cut costs. At ts problem is even more acute because they have tremendous debtload in buying time warner and of course the Legacy Assets like directv. That is where we are right now. It is, this is coming from bankers. These are bankers that are pitching deals. This is a deal theyre going to pitch. I cant tell you that at t is going to go for it but they might not have much choice, at least that is what bankers are telling us. This is an asset clearly underperforming. They have too much debt on the Balance Sheet. They have a five 5g commitment and trying to inat that great time warner into their mix. There you have it. That is what the bankers are telling us and these are bankers at major firms that are pitching the deals. Again at t had no comment. Dish had no comment. Apollo had no comment. Neil, back to you. Neil real quickly, what do you think of this move in the senate to delist Chinese Companies on various exchanges here . It is, you know, listen, china is bad on number of levels. They did not level with us about the coronavirus. It is fascinating if you think about it at a time when President Trump was extolling president xi as a great guy, they just cut a deal for the phase one of the trade deal. The markets were ebullient based on that, he was obviously withholding a lot of information from us about the spread of the coronavirus. They are bad actors but ill tell you, you start messing around with commerce the bottom line is this, we need them, they need us. We need them, because they buy our debt, buy a lot of it, they buy a lot of our products. We need them because we buy a lot of their products. Peaceful coexistence helps the both companies out. To go out to delist jack mas alibaba for example, because of this, is just, seems like it is a bridge too far. I think one of the problems that led to the great depression, neil, was when capital across borders globally started to dry up, where everybody became protectionist. Where governments like the Hoover Administration raised taxes. Trump isnt doing a lot of that, but this would be a problem for raising capital. This would have impact on capital flows. I think it is a dumb move to be honest, if you want a healthy economy or healthier economy coming out of pandemic block downs. Neil if you dont like Chinese Companies dont invest in them. That is another call. Neil my friend, great reporting as always. Best in the business. Charlie gasparino. Were getting word from Vice President pence that the administration is considering some additional coronavirusrelated travel restrictions. They arent specifying which exact countries theyre looking at but they include regions like latin america, which would include brazil where there has been a spike in cases i would assume. That might behind i. Nothing else about any other regions. Maybe this is something the Vice President will spell out to Stuart Varney tomorrow. Well have more after this. You wouldnt accept an incomplete job from anyone else. So why accept it from your allergy pills . Flonase relieves your worst symptoms which most pills dont. Get allinone allergy relief for 24 hours, with flonase. Neil all right. Disney reopening, not maybe the Amusement Park disney youre thinking about either in anaheim, california or orlando, florida, but Disney Springs. It is mainly an entertainment, restaurant, you name it. Not the rides but it is starting the opening process today. And it could be crucial to deciding down the road what else opens there and elsewhere for the disney empire, phil keating following all of that very closely from miami. Hey, phil. Reporter neil, disney world is taking reservations for tourists to return to the big theme park in july but not before that. They have not set a firm date when they intend to reopen. But Disney Springs is the Entertainment District in the sprawling disney world footprint t has restaurants, bars, retail shops. Today for the First Time Since midmarch, some are reopening their doors for business. A total of 44 shops and restaurants reopened today, with new rules and frequently disinfected everything. Everyone who goes there, will be required to wear a facemask, to get their temperatures checked upon arrival at special temperature stations. They will have to practice social distancing while walking around. It is entertainment zone where locals like to hang out, dine, shop. That is expected to be Disney Springss Customer Base for near future. Tourism from around the country or the world basically screeched to a halt in orlando. It is a very divisive issue and disney does not do divisive. So you know, theyre going to put their best smiley face on this but theyre going to be politely but firmly enforcing the state reporter sanitation measures will be ramped up. Hand sanitizer dispensers and hand washing stations throughout the district. Last week universal theme park opened up its version of the same thing called citywalk with retail restaurants once again welcoming visitors. Vice president mike pence is in florida meeting with the governor. He will also meet with tourism and hospitality boosters about their plans to get back open. While Miamidade County allowed, and broward county, by the way, allowed all retail and restaurants to reopen to people inside the establishments, diners and shoppers, up to 50 capacity two days ago, the city of miami and miami beach, they decided to wait a little bit. Well today, retail can once again reopen to 50 capacity in the city of miami and city of miami beach but restaurants wont reopen for in house dining in both cities until next wednesday in an apparent move to try to prohibit big memorial day weekend crowds from coming in from the inland and potentially causing too crowded of a situation. Neil . Neil that does make sense i guess. Phil keating thank you very much. My friend phil keating from florida. Restaurants are opening across the country, fastfood or otherwise. It will be a different world with what is going on in florida right now in orlando. The seating will be limited. People will be spread out and jose will watch it very closely, the Restaurant Brands international ceo. Think of the fastfood places under income umbrella from burger king to the tim hortons canadian coffee chain, popeyes in louisiana also under their umbrella as well. He is in charge of it. Jose, good to have you. These are big adjustments. How are folks preparing for this, how are you preparing for this. Neil, great to see you. This is a big moment for us but weve been open for business since the beginning of the crises here in the u. S. We have 10,000 restaurants under the burger king, popeyes and tim hortons flag here in the u. S. And since the beginning our business has been kind of deemed an essential service so weve been open for drivethrough, delivery, takeout. We have done a bunch of innovation throughout with our technology, mobile order pay, pickup as well, curbside pickup. Weve been open for business. Our teams are doing extraordinary job, doing it safely, responsibly throughout. Were in the process of reopening in many states. We have 15 of our dining rooms open. We have applied social distancing and everyone has ppe masks and gloves as well. Neil right. Adding acrylic screens to the front counter. Were taking measures and steps to make sure people feel confident and comfortable they can come in to enjoy a meal safely in our restaurants and enjoy good food and beverages that we serve. Neil maybe people gotten used to just drivethrough, picking up and going, and there isnt going to be the demand you think, if you plan for sitdown service. Im sure it depend on the restaurant and the location but, what are you looking for when it is all allowed across the country, versus 25 or 50 capacity. Will it make a big difference . Yeah. Look, in this business it is always been about convenience. Great tasting food and convenience and being there for customers any way they deem is best for them to enjoy our food and beverages. If over the years we evolved the business with drivethrough. We evolved with windows and takeouts as well as now mobile orders and take out as well, curbside. I think were in the midst of a really important shift in terms of how consumers are going to employ our brands through off premise. Delivery has been a big part of that. Well continue to innovate as we have over the decades and well continue to serve our guests and with great food. There will be demand in the dining rooms. Were ready for that. Neil all right. Sorry to jump on you there, jose. Best of luck on this. World watches very, very closely. Well have a lot more on that and the reopening process and some bumps along the way, but very few bumps which is kind of remarkable. After this. Neil all right. What do you think of the number one thing people complain about when theyre all sheltered in their homes . Its not the restaurants, not the food, its not about the work. Its about getting their hair cut or colored or whatever, so salons and barber shops not being open is their number one piece of grief. When it comes to this, its got to be a very very big issue in illinois, for example, just how you reopen and can eventually address that. Thats the problem right now. By and large, you cant. Matt . Reporter we have been monitoring live video from operation haircut in lansing, michigan and talking to organizers at the event right now. They tell us up to 36 hairstylists, massage therapists and dog groomers will be Offering Free Services outside of the capitol right now in protest of Governor Whitmers stayathome order deeming these businesses nonessential and closing them for weeks now. Event organizers are a conservative group but tell us this rally is not political, its about jobs. People in michigan are quote, desperate to return to work. Barbers and stylists insist they can safely take one client at a time. Police have showed up to this event and they are warning that stylists are only licensed to cut hair in their designated facility and could be ticketed for disorderly conduct. Heres one state Police Officer moments ago. Over the past couple weeks, the majority of the michiganders are complying with the executive orders and doing very well. Reporter michigan stayathome order is set to expire may 28th. Many counties in the Upper Peninsula are slowly reopening right now but Governor Whitmer says its too early to tell when salons or barber shops can reopen, because she says customers cannot social distance while getting their hair cut. Protesters today tell us that this event is about jobs, not guns, and they are asking those militias to stay away. Neil . Neil all right, thank you very very much, matt. Its not just michigan, as i said at the outset. There are protests going on in illinois as we speak. Riley runs bow and arrow salon, shes the owner, and the stylist there, even going so far as i think, riley, suing the state to force the issue. What have you heard . Can you hear me . Hello . Yes, i can. Neil go ahead. I apologize. Where are things now . You are open, but the state doesnt let you open, right . So are you defying state orders . Absolutely. So we opened our doors yesterday. I hired an amazing attorney who has been such an amazing help for me, and actually, you know, i dont believe that its defying orders. My personal belief is that i dont think it is. Neil okay. Now, the state is saying not yet, that this is going to have to wait, that you shouldnt open now, that its part of a process, and this aint the time for the process. What do you say . I definitely think that a lot of people have said why not wait the four days we have but its gone on too long now. I think theres a bigger issue. Our governor, besides what they are saying that is going on, thats how i feel about it. Neil so you filed suit against governor pri governor pritzger. Have you heard back from the Governors Office . No. They got our certified letter. The states attorney, the local Police Enforcement and then also the states attorney, they failed to reply within 48 hours so tom told me to start working at my leisure. Thats exactly what were doing. So i have not heard from them. Department of health came out here, we had a Police Officer sit out here yesterday for a little bit. Nothing. Neil so has anyone paid you a visit, local authorities, to say you shouldnt be doing this or serve you with a ticket, summons, anything . I have not. I had the commander of springfield police, very nice guy, come out here on monday but i was not taking clients. I was preparing to open. And you know, he was going to give me a piece of paper but i had no clients and i told him i have a full book, im ready to go this week. We will be slammed and we will be here ready to go. He said i dont want to know when you are going to have clients. Nobody has literally bothered me. Neil are you taking clients now and how many are you getting . So, yes, im taking my clients that have been my loyal guests. We focus on extensions here at bow arrow and i have one sitting in my chair right now, actually, and so we are just doing appointments only. We already do appointments only, one at a time. Neil all right. So that client, how did you explain, i have to do a fox interview, i will get back to you . Thats how youre doing it . Thats very impressive. Absolutely. My assistant is helping me with her right now so she should be getting her hair washed and all of that fun stuff in a minute. She totally supports me. So do all of our clients. Neil all right. We will watch it very very closely. Let us know if you hear back from the Governors Office. Best of luck to you. Riley on all of that. This is the type of thing you see happening in state after state, you see it in new jersey, in maryland, in a host of other states where they are kind of pushing that envelope here because they just say they are pushed up against the wall and they have to. Now we will go to blake burman, watching all of this. The president , you think about it, we have other things to talk about, hes kind of emboldened a lot of this behavior right now, even when it comes to protesters, saying he understands where theyre coming from, and you know, doesnt certainly rail against them. Reporter he wants the states open. He wants the economy to open. He wants it open all across the country. Its something the president has been pushing for, not for days now, but really, for weeks now, for all these states and he has taken issue with some governors who he believes are not opening fast enough. You see whats going on there in the state of illinois with that one Business Owner you just spoke to. Speaking of the president and reopening, as part of the reason why we saw this push from him on twitter today saying he would be threatening to withhold funds from certain states if they engage in excessive vote by mail. This morning, he specifically singled out two states, michigan and nevada. Michigan, for example, has sent out vote by mail applications, not ballots, applications to registered voters across the state. However, the white house not exactly saying at this point what exactly funds, what funds would be withheld and how they would go about withholding those funds. Kellyanne conway saying today as the country starts to reopen, like we have seen here and been talking about, now is not the time for a mass withdrawal from polling sites. Listen. There really is a move afoot in many places and spaces to go all virtual, all online voting, all, you know, nobody can go to the polls anymore. When we are getting our country back to normal in many places and spaces there will be little reason except for political ones and trying to game the system and perhaps interfere in the election process. Reporter however, in her Weekly Press Conference earlier this morning, the House Speaker nancy pelosi backed mailin voting saying she believes this is a health issue. Also, in an announcement that as well could have pretty big potential future implications on the paycheck protection program, pelosi also said that democrats are backing fixes that they believe should be made to the ppp. What it does is extend the time which you can rehire people, extend the time which you pay back and also undo the 75 25 which was debilitating and we are concerned about the lack of transparency in how the administration is carrying some of this out. Reporter you might remember President Trump sat down with some of the nations top restaurateurs at the white house earlier this week, and those Restaurant Owners and industry executives were pushing for this idea of extending the time frame for ppp, of which the funds need to be spent from eight weeks to 24 weeks. Essentially moving that time frame all the way out until the end of october. In his conversations there with those restaurateurs, President Trump seemed to favor that idea, so its certainly gaining movement in washington. Republicans, democrats and even within the white house as well. Neil . Neil blake burman, thank you very much. Blake in washington. Speaking of washington right now, there is a push right now, this has bipartisan support from democrats and republicans, for something called the smart act. Its a 500 million relief effort to help states and local governments. Congressman tom reed joins us, republican from the state of new york. Congressman, are you for this . Do you like the way it sounds . It does have unusual bipartisan support from those you wouldnt think for one reason or another wouldnt be on the same page. Yeah, absolutely we support it, neil. Working with senator cassidy and senator menendez, i appreciate their leadership in the senate in putting this together and we have ten members from the getgo, five republicans and five democrats. Our local municipalities in particular are suffering. They need direct relief and thats what the smart fund does. It also recognizes [ inaudible ] we are going to do it in a way that makes sure you cant cover preexisting budget gaps and you cant do it at the expense of local government [ inaudible ] that existed for years between the state capitals and local government and make sure the local governments are the big winners in regards to this. Neil how would you know its going for that purpose and not some other nefarious purpose . How would you be able to prove what one state is taking isnt to address ills that came long before the coronavirus . We put guard rails right into it, it cant go to pension fund rehabilitation, things like that. But also we did this on a formula basis, based on population and covid cases and documented loss of revenue in regards to precovid 19 situations as well as the revenue thats actually coming in afterwards. By having those three tranches, we think we can actually tie the aid directly to the losses that occurred as a result of the covid19 quarantine orders and also the costs associated with it. I think theres a way to do this. Its a good faith effort. We have large bipartisan support and we are working behind the scenes to get those included in the next package. Our local governments are struggling and potentially looking at laying off Police Officers, firefighters. We cannot have that happen during this pandemic emergency. Neil so in whatever new stimulus is being considered, congressman, i assume this would be front and center for you, or is this apart from even that . This is a this is probably in that larger package, obviously. Its going to be one of my top priorities. We represent an area that received no local aid funding, none of the last local aid package went out to 500,000 population and higher communities in western upstate new york. We dont have that type of population. We are not the city of new york in this area. Its a top priority to put into this bill but im also interested in staying with the American Workers. I want our workers to be rewarded as a result of their staying on the front line as opposed to potentially being going on unemployment, making more money on unemployment than they did in their workplace. We need to send a message to the american worker, we stand with them. Neil good for you. Its a beautiful neck of the woods you represent. Thank you very, very much. Keep us posted on all of this. We talk about stocks that are doing well, the market is doing very very well. I told but the bettyou about thn expected retail news out of lowes but you know what got lost in the sauce today . Mortgage applications. In the latest period they are up 6 over the last week from the previous week. This is yet another reminder that theres pentup demand out there for homes. To buy a home. Its a dangerous situation to ever go in the water when theres not lifeguards present. So there will be a constant reminder of that. Anyone tries to get in the water, they will be taken right out of the water. Neil all right. Well, theres summer fun for you. The mayor of new york city saying essentially i might open beaches, that doesnt mean you should go in the water. But this didnt sit well with a lot of locales beyond the new york city metropolitan area. In long island, for example, where there was a move afoot, you know, you are coming from the city and all, maybe you shouldnt go there, its caused this confusing dustup here. The Nassau County of new york executive joins us now. Laura, what does this mean in your neck of the woods . What is the mayor saying or maybe you can clarify it for me. Sure. So i have been speaking with the mayor and you know, we have 50 capacity. Thats the only amount that we are allowed to that we are allowed to let into our beaches. So beaches are allowed to open on friday, but only at 50 capacity. So after speaking with the mayor, i understand that there are enforcement issues, there are density issues in the city that we dont have here in the suburbs so i understand his decision. I respect his decision. We are ready to open. We are going to be ready to open our beach on friday, and im signing legislation right after this call im doing with you, neil, to give priority to our Nassau County residents. It will be Nassau County residents only who can use our county operated beach, nickerson beach. These are the folks who are paying the taxes and since we are limited to 50 , i want to make sure that our residents get to use our beaches. Neil so somebody is coming from new york city, executive, what happens to them . They havent heard this distinction. Do they get turned away or what do they do . It depends where they go. We have jones beach which is a staterun beach. Obviously thats open to residents all over the state. Our beach, nickerson beach, its called, we are keeping it just, as long as new york city is keeping its beaches closed, ours will be Nassau County residents only. There are other municipalities that have their own beaches, towns and villages. We have this very confusing patchwork of municipalities out here in Nassau County and each of them have their own beaches. They are all coming up with their own rules but by and large, most are, you know, prioritizing their residents. Neil what are the rules on that . In a lot of areas, i know in the carolinas, for example, it might have changed, to be honest, that you couldnt swim in the water and you had to keep moving on the beach. Walk and all, dont just lounge around. Maybe thats changed if these areas. What about in your beach . Yes. People are welcome to lounge. We are asking ten feet apart, have your household all together but with your towels and chairs, make sure you are ten feet apart from the next collection of people. When you are lying on your towel or you are in the water, obviously you dont have to wear a mask but when you use the bathroom or are going to be walking in or out of the beach, where you are going to be closer than six feet to others, we encourage you, we ask you to wear your face covering. Our residents have been fantastic throughout this pandemic. They know what the rules are. They get it. We will be out there just to remind people in case people forget. Neil all right. I wish you luck. You are going to have a busy weekend ahead of you, but thank you very much. Nassau county new york executive, having to juggle that with those in her neck of the woods and those who might be visiting i guess from other woods. More after this. Stay with us. Retire better susan first time google and apple will be shipping their Contact Tracing software. Just getting off the call with both apple and google. They say multiple states in the u. S. Have expressed interest and 22 countries on five continents have also expressed interest in using the software as well. When i pressed them to name these 22 countries, they declined but they say they expect more countries to jump on board in the coming weeks. This starts as the initial phase one launch which means it wants apple phones to be able to speak to android phones. Not an easy thing to do. We will start with exposure notifications. We need to bring up the board for you. That will launch today. These exposure notifications alert people they have come in contact with someone that has contracted or tested positive for coronavirus and apple and google stressed on this call that this is meant to augment and support the Public HealthContact Tracing efforts and not to replace them. Also, this comes with more heightened privacy as well so there will be no location tracking. That was very important. The Public Health authorities will decide how these notifications are pushed and how they are triggered on each others phones. If we bring up the quotes as well, they say that apple and google say that our technology is meant to make these apps work better. Each user gets to decide whether or not to opt in to exposure notifications and the system does not collect or use location from the device. If a person is diagnosed with covid19 its up to them whether or not to report that in the Public Health app. We have heard from north dakota and some other states that say they have expressed interest in using this type of Contact Tracing software, and they say that we will need more masking which is what apple and google are trying to do because they have been testing this in beta form so these are more random keys generated to make sure each user isnt just logged on to one key which means its more easily traced and bluetooth gets covered as well. This is phase one which is more basic. Phase two will be coming in the next few weeks. This is a lot more complicated because this actually builds the software into the ios which is the Underlying Software that runs your apple iphones and the android operating system which runs about two thirds of the phones on the planet. Combined they run about three quarters of the phones used on earth. But there are some concerns still about safety and privacy, but apple and google say they are doing all they can right now to make sure if you opt in, your location, your identity will be hidden. Neil great reporting. Thank you. That is a big undertaking. We will watch it very very closely. Susan li on all of that. You heard a little early on this broadcast, sort of a pileon when it comes to china. Then theres tik tok, the chineseowned short form Video Service sort of like their youtube. That might have changed a little bit when they brought on board an american ceo. I dont know if that will necessarily make a big difference. Hillary vaughn has been following that very very closely. Hillary . Reporter well, the chineseowned app tik tok has an american ceo for the very first time ever. The former head of Disney Streaming, kevin mayer, is joining the company as its ceo and also the c. O. O. Of the parent company. Some see this as an olive branch to those in the legislative branch who have called for the app to face questions under oath over National Security concerns and privacy concerns for users, but so far, tik tok has been a noshow at two congressional hearings hosted by lawmakers to answer those concerns. The chairman of one of those committees who requested tik toks presence and has been stood up by the company twice, senator josh hawley, says the former head of Disney Streaming needs to show up, and show that hes serious about working with lawmakers. I suspect that this new ceo is just a figurehead and in fact, thats what has been said in the past 24 hours but he should prove it. If hes not a figurehead, if hes actually going to have real responsibility, come to this congress, come to my committee, United States senate, and testify. Reporter tik tok says they are actively Engaging Congress and will ultimately send someone to capitol hill to testify in the future, but until then, the app is growing even more popular during the covid19 pandemic. The First Quarter of this year, tik tok was downloaded more times than any other app in the world. Over 307 million downloads. That has some senators worried that users are being exposed in the process. We ought to think about giving tik tok users the right to sue tik tok or to sue if it turns out their data has been compromised. The imperative thing is lets protect american users. Reporter senator hawley tells me until tik tok testifies, regulators should press pause on the ability for the app to take user data, collect it and then send it to china, saying that until they can guarantee that users until they get answers they are looking for from the company, they should press pause on that data collection. Neil . Neil hillary, thank you very much. Hillary vaughn. Speaking of all things china related, we told you earlier that the Senate Overwhelmingly passed a measure that would push for delisting Chinese Companies on exchanges here. Senator Martha Mcsally joins us right now, republican from the beautiful state of arizona. Senator, were you among those supporting this . Of course. Look, neil, this is part of a multifaceted approach. I think americans are waking up that china is our adversary. We need to stop having double standards for them, for them to be on the new york stock exchange, they need the same sort of oversight and auditing standards as american companies. We should be looking at Chinese Companies that are operating in america. Weve got local Law Enforcement using chinese drones to monitor Contact Tracing. Im working on legislation related to that. Theres so much more that china has been doing over the last 20 years and its time for us to wake up and in every way, hold them accountable for their malevolent behavior, hold them accountable for this pandemic and not have a double standard anymore. Neil where is this whole china thing going, senator . If you think about it, it could impinge on the trade deal. We dont see that yet in agricultural purchases. We might. But do you worry that whatever the justification of your position, that its going to really damage that economic relationship and we might get damaged as well . Well, what i worry more about is that they have been on a several decade path to try and replace us as the world leader, and that needs to stop, and the window is closing, but with american resolve and american unity and our other partners standing up, i think china just needs to be confronted for their bad behavior. That includes building islands in the South China Sea and militarizing them. That includes unleashing this pandemic and then continuing to cover it up. Then blaming the u. S. Army and silencing people internally. It includes so many elements of this and i think people are realizing now, i have been dealing with National Security for 30 years, i have never trusted a communist, im not going to start now, but people i think are realizing the threat. There are security elements to it, there are economic elements to it. I think again, consumers should have choices, they should know if things are made in china. Im working on that issue as well for online purchases. Really, weve got to Work Together with our allies. China needs to change their behavior if they want to be responsible in the world but theyre not right now. Neil but what changed . I can definitely see the coronavirus and how they handled that, what they knew, when and whether they were hoodwinking us, but the militarization of islands in the South China Sea and elsewhere, that was going on for a long long time, concern about whether they rip us off and whether they were honest, that has been out there for a long long time. It just seems to me that using the virus as the catalyst to go and fix or address longtime sources of friction might be an overreach. Help me. I think its just waking people up. We on the Security Side have been very concerned but this waking people up that they are irresponsible actors, reckless and dangerous and now we have american lives, loved ones who are lost, livelihoods lost and this is a catalyst for a lot of my constituents to realize chinas dangerous activity over the decades. Neil now, on the delisting thing, if those companies are delisted, do you ever worry that china comes back and says well, we are not going to buy your debt . You know what im saying . The tit for tat gets so over the top that, you know, we could lead the a worldwide recession. They just need to be responsible and there needs to be no double standard. If a u. S. Company has to meet certain requirements in auditing to be on the new york stock exchange, shouldnt we ask that of a Chinese Company as well . I think thats a reasonable approach that most americans would agree to. Its time for people to wake up. China has been moving in a path using these double standards, stealing our technology, on a path to replace us, and weve got to look for a way to have them steer in a different im not looking for confrontation but they need to be held accountable for their behavior and no more double standards. Neil do you think the trade deal is now kaput . That whatever they agreed to, whatever we have agreed to, theres such a chill that its over . Its up to them. For us, i think President Trump stood up to take on china and start fighting for American Workers and american companies, and negotiated this deal. I think its up for china to implement it the way that they agreed to, while we continue to work diplomatic, economic and other elements of chinese behavior, and we work here to bring manufacturing home. I mean, thats really an important thing. You look at what can we do. We can incentivize companies to bring manufacturing home, for jobs in america, for National Security in america, health security, ppe, pharmaceuticals, critical minerals, all the things that we know we want to be not beholden to china and like we have seen in this situation, so theres a lot of things we can do. Help americans, help our security, help our health and help american jobs. Neil all right. We will watch it closely. Senator, thank you very much for taking the time. Thanks, neil. Neil all right. Senator mcsally. A lot more coming up, including a little bit of comedown from where we were but the dow still up right now. The nasdaq, well into positive territory on the year, about 5 or so from record territory. And the dow and s p 500, can you believe that they are little more than 12 and 9 respectively from record territory . From record territory. After this. Neil all right. All sorts of treatments, possibilities, vaccines that are out there, lot of people paying attention to that but what if it just gets as simple as planning out whats going on in the blood . Im way oversimplifying this but an internal medicine doctor behind sicytosorbents with us n. What will this technology enable you to do . First, its a pleasure to be here. Our blood Purification Technology has established a reputation around the world as a goto therapy for the treatment of cytokine storm that left unchecked, can cause massive inflammatory response that turns a patients own immune system against the body, often leading to organ failure and death. In fact, in covid19, those worse patients often have this disease. The treatment is pretty simple. Pump blood outside of the body like dialysis. A cartridge removes cytokines and other inflammatory toxins and the purified blood is circulated back into the body over and over again. Its approved in the European Union and used in more than 88,000 treatments in 58 countries around the world to date to treat cytokine storm and complications of cytokine storms such as lung failure and shock with a wide variety of illnesses, including covid19 and influenza and other things as well as many common everyday critical illnesses. We just reported our strongest quarter ever sorry. While we reported neil i apologize. I jumped on you. I just wanted to be clear. No, no, i have been watching. Its been remarkable. This has been very beneficial to cardiac patients and the like in surgery, all of a sudden unexpected bleeding can develop. Where does the covid19 potential come in . Well, again, we Just Announced our quarter, 78 increase in Product Sales to at at 8. 2 million and part of the backlog was driven with covid19, particularly in march. It mostly reflects our very healthy underlying business of treating cytokine storm in everyday diseases in intensive care units and cardiac surgery, as you mentioned. I mentioned this just to really say we are a covid19 play but not a covid19 company. This new awareness of cytokine storm has a longterm positive impact on our business. Neil the benefit there is that you could prevent bleeding, some of the other things associated with so many other from surgeries to conditions, this goes a long way toward helping those well, well beyond the coronavirus, right . Oh, absolutely. You know, one of the very exciting new treatments that we have is for the removal of blood thinners during emergency cardiac surgery that would otherwise make patients look like hemophiliacs where they bleed and ooze blood and that can actually be lifethreatening. Thats what we can do. Its one of the applications we have outside of inflammation in covid19, it can remove blood thinners very effectively during surgery, thereby helping to prevent that bleeding risk. Its approved in the European Union to remove blood thinners, two of the leading drugs in the blood thinner space, and we are a breakthrough designation in the United States for this application as well. But in covid19, you know yeah. I mean, covid19, we have been used in approximately 100 patients [ inaudible ] primarily in germany and the rationale of using it is simple. Reduce the cytokine storm that is causing ongoing lung injury, let the lungs rest and heal, thereby helping patients get off mechanical ventilation faster. In the United States, we have now received fda emergency authorization to use the therapy and to sell this commercially throughout all hospitals in the United States, help create covid19 critically ill patients who have confirmed or imminent respiratory failure. Neil its getting certainly wall streets attention. The stock up 178 just this year. Doctor, we will be focusing on it a lot more. Thank you very very much. Very good having you. Thank you so much, neil. Neil all right. Be well. In the meantime, we told you about how Major League Baseball wants to come back. They just dont know how or exactly when. Neil when i heard that video games were thriving throughout the coronavirus thing, i said well, thats not exactly a shock. But when you hear these numbers, that could be a shock. Kristina partsinevelos has been following it very very closely. Kristina, this is serious change we are spending on this stuff, huh . Kristina yeah. I wish i could say that maybe the two of us are contributing to it but im assuming youre not a gamer, but we can talk about that later. The rise of esports is here and theres nothing we can really do to stop it. It is one of the Fastest Growing markets in the world and for the First Quarter of this year, you saw a nearly 10 jump in consumer spending. Thats u. S. Consumer spending on video games. Thats over 10 million in the First Quarter of this year alone. You are seeing sony that has more than doubled its subscribers from a year ago and play station now which is a cloud gaming subscription service, Microsoft Xbox live, maybe some of the viewers watching right now play that. They have hit nearly 90 million monthly active users in april alone. A lot of that has to do with the pandemic. So these companies are cashing in on all users, with a lot of these micro transactions. Thats when you buy ingame virtual items like swords or coins that can be purchased by players. Used to be physical retail, you go to the store, you buy a disc, you buy a console, go home and plug it all in. After a decade or so of moving into a digital space, they are set up to benefit from online game play, transactions that take place entirely digitally. Kristina we talked about the numbers, but shares of a lot of these game publishers are up bigtime. Just over the past few months. Including Take Two Interactive software. They are set to release their earnings after the bell. They are the owner of grand theft auto and the street is expecting revenue to climb 20 . Its not just the game makers that are pulling in record numbers. Streaming platforms like twitch, which is operated by amazon, is seeing a 23 surge in viewership in the month of march alone. So what were seeing is not only traditional video gamers, neil, but also traditional sports fans that need to satisfy that competitive sports itch so they are tuning in as well. Are you, neil, ortnite or any ty of games like that . Neil no, but i know some teenaged boys who have. I can understand kristina oh, your house, your sons. Right. Neil yeah. But i dont know. I just dont see the appeal. Im kind of dull, as you know. Kristina got to get with it. Get with the times. Neil tell me about it. Tell me about it. You sound like my kids, actually. All right, kristina, thank you very very much. Great report, as always. Were looking at people who are trying to figure out what to do now if you want to get back into sports, back to restaurants, we have a gentleman who is big in both. Tilman fertitta, Hospitality Business mogul, the guy behind landrys, president there, big big eating establishment, ceo of the houston rockets. Successful basketball team. He was kind enough to join us right now. Tilman, svery good to have you. Great to be back, neil. Neil first off, lets talk a little bit about the basketball season. There is not going to be one. Do you regret that that was called off too soon in retrospect . Absolutely not. Because we didnt know what we were dealing with at the time, neil, and we had been talking about it, the Commissioners Office and all the owners. I do think that adam made the right call at the right time because if you would have had numerous players get it at this time and we didnt know what we were dealing with, it wouldnt have been good. I think he called it off at the right time and i think we will get it started at the right time. Neil all right. I think you are referring to the nba commissioner, adam silver. Lets talk about the restaurant. You made a lot of money in a lot of businesses but in the landrys situation, you are talking about while the focus tends to be on smaller restaurant players and all the big boys, obviously, get hit, too. I mean, if your restaurants cant open or even when they do open, they are minimal capacity, you have bigger rents than some of your smaller counterparts. I mean, how badly is this hitting you . Well, i mean, its not good at all. You know, the problem is even the restaurants that are opened up are still running a negative 60 and so even those restaurants, you put a bunch of people back to work but the fact is youre still negative cash flowing and thats why when i met with the president the other day, i talked about the ppp, that all employees are the same, no matter if you work for a big company or little company, and a lot of the Big Companies are taking heat. I didnt take the money but our employees are just as important as everybody elses. Thats why they designed this the way they did. The sba was just a vehicle to get the money out. It didnt mean you were a small business. Everybodys gotten aid, the cruise ships, airlines. Why shouldnt big restaurant people get it, too . Nl neil you think about it, you will deal with problems on a larger basis, right . Anybody who has been to landrys, they are big, big restaurant. They are not tiny. Depending on the location, those are pricey locations. So imagine at limited capacity, that isnt going to cut it. I guess it depends on the state, but you would want to see it back to full capacity as soon as possible. That doesnt look likely. Play this out for me through maybe the rest of the year. Well, believe it or not, neil, even though we are only able to operate at 25 and 50 capacity, the customer is not there, okay. Remember, 15 to 20 of the customer, 15 to 20 of the customer is unemployed. 15 to 20 is scared they might be unemployed and is holding on to their money and 15 to 20 is scared to death to still come out of their house. So even though thats all we can do, we really are having an issue with a seating problem, we are having an issue with lack of customers. Then you get into your big markets where, you know, the big Restaurant Operators are, just like im the largest full service dinein operator in new york and chicago, houston, i dont know when we are going to open in new york and l. A. , so youre just sitting here with these monstrous Million Dollar rents and thats why this is eventually going to become a commercial real estate problem because tenants cannot pay these high rents and this is going to cause a whole other calamity if we dont do something to get ahold of it. Neil we are going to keep an eye on it. You raised a number of very good issues here. I know you know the president very well. Im sure you can work that angle. Tilman fertitta. Its another side of this equation we rarely address, what happens to these places if you dont go back to them. After this. S. Their medicare options.
