Kaley mcgee white, your reaction in. I think that its good that biden is you a dressing the country on this and i want to say he has handled it pretty admirably so far. But the humanitarian aid to the west bank in gaza is a pig red line that big red line that no american should support. Theres no way the United States can guarantee that money is not going to go directly into hamas coffers. President biden can make any promises he wants but we know how it works. We know how it works with ukraine. We know how it works with israel. Floss way for the u. S. To seriously monitor where our funds are going and how theyre being used. Its a big red line, americans should not support it. Maria its interesting, as we learn that it was actually the palestinians who bombed that hospital. I mean, it amazing to me that s talking about the aid. Thats where this is going. All the aid must be contingent on getting those civilians that want to declare themselves civilians and not combatants into egypt. This is whereby den must use the pow where biden must use the power of the purse, not just the aid we give to egypt every year, especially what biden specifically released after the Trump Administration held it, on top of that, use the imf, use the fact that egypt has a 30 inflation rate,. Any aid the u. S. Sends to palestine, whether in the west bank or in gaza should be completely contingent on the return of all hostages. Maria right. And the fact that biden has not clearly stipulated that is a problem. Maria i dont understand why hes not talking about the hostages. You need something in order to give that money. All the cease fire declarations, obviously biden is bucking the far left of his party but they are too silent on the hostages. That should be order number one, release the hostages and Everything Else can come later. Israel is able to ride this thing out. They turned on limited water in Southern Gaza because they want to get people away from the border so they can do more air strikes which is crucial but gaza doesnt have a selfsustaining economy. The blockade which people are discovering was not anything more than a weapons blockade the last 16 years, the real blockade, all theyre doing is riding them out. Eventually gaza will have to bend to israel in some capacity. If we take a step back and look at the situation more broadly, heres where i think we screwed up. We have believed for years you now that we know our adversary, that we know our enemies and because we value life and freedom that everybody else does too. Well, thats not true. They value the after life. I mean, theres videos of school age palestinians say they want to grow up and become suicide bombers. Thats their goal. They want to elimin eliminate t. With this administration and the progressive policies out of d. C. , we mis mistakenly believet everyone cares about Climate Change and pronouns and sex changes. Weve taken our eye off the ball and completely missed the mark as as relates to what is really important and knowing what our adversaries value. Maria during his trip back to washington the president told reporters that palestinians have to learn how to shoot straight. This statement made just one day after the gaza hospital blast that killed upwards of 500 people. Watch is. Im not suggesting that hamas deliberately did it either. Its not the first time hamas has launched something that didnt function very well. Maria your thoughts about another ship, military ship headed toward the mideast and of course to support the other two that are there near israel. Your thoughts . Yeah, maria, i think the number one job of the United States department of defense right now is to deter iran from participating in an overt way with hezbollah, those in the west bank or down in gaza. We know that theyre covertly supporting all of those air wrist organizations those terrorist organizations in those areas so its not anything that we can question. It is without doubt that iran is behind all of this and why the president refuses to mention iran is really a mystery. And i know that they want to keep the pipes open to the iran nuclear deal. I know there are sympathizers within dod and state, some call them spies from iran, but its really not a wise move. He needs to take on iran directly and message that we understand that theyre behind this and get them to back off and that will allow some other things to flow, like the aid thats hes talking about down in gaza and so forth. So its all about having some muscle in there. Hopefully to match the messaging program where we can tell iran to back down. Maria its a great point. Tiana, this administration will not connect the dots to iran and the president wont mention iran. Clearly, the criticism is coming from a vacuum. Biden has always been somewhat compromised by the iranians, we know the administration has had espionage within it from iran and still to date refusing to admit that money is fungible, that the amount of reserves that we have passed over to the iranians was used in part to subsidize this attack. We know that hamas met with iranians in beirut in order to sign off on this so not only just with regards to the iranians but also the wild card of lebanon and hezbollah, how much more do we risk a northern incursion from hezbollah into the west bank, into israels northern border and how much of this could theoretically be stopped by biden taking it to i tehran and renewing more sanctions . Yeah, so i agree with all of that and i think one of the things that we should do is message, as i said, but you know also we call them flexible deterrence options. We can fly some jets off the aircraft carrier, we can get some helicopters doing patrols and maneuvers in the area and we can do something more forceful and match that with a messaging campaign and the other thing is the 6 billion that was unfrozen and some of the other moneys that have been unfrozen, let iran take care of gaza. Theyre providing their weapons, they have logistics and supply routes. Let them push some food and water and medical supplies in there too. And if we had a more competent secretary of state and state department, we might be able to influence people in that way. Maria its a great point. Meanwhile, u. S. Thank you for being here. How much of an issue are the spiking Interest Rates for stocks . Well, the spike in Interest Rates are really doing some of the work for the fed and what were looking at today in the market, maria, is what is powell going to say at noon. Is he going to continue to he say what other fed officials have been saying which is that the Interest Rates going up, are doing the work for the fed and they are probably not going to raise rates in november and december but the markets pricing in a 50 50 chance in january. Maria and tiana, thats been the story in terms of Federal Reserve officials, the messaging out there is the market has done the work for the fed, maybe we dont need another rate hike in the october 31 meeting or the december meeting. Jump in here. We see that finally Inflation Expectations are thankfully deeply anchored. Nobody is expecting they change the target to 3 . One of the fears i think we have is that bond markets are going to cease to be responsive with the fed no longer a major buyer of treasuries. Powell made it clear he wants to keep the Balance Sheet shrinking, not growing. Is there a crisis scenario where we hit crisis territory and the fed is willing to you cut and they dont purchase treasuries and theres a mass treasury selloff. I dont think were heading into a r recession. Even last night, netflix earnings, i think that points to the stress of the consumer that theyre raising rates, they have had good earnings and, you know, were really looking also at retail sales. Weve seen a blowout, retail sales report earlier this week and it was very broadbased. So we think its going to be a pretty good earnings season as well and stocks are holding up very well in the face of historic rate hikes, in the face of two wars, russia and ukraine, and now the middle east. Maria and its a big week for earnings this week, next week is going to be even busier. Tesla reported a double miss, Revenue Growth slowing to a three year low, elon musk warned the ev company could can face enormous challenges ahead, he expressed caution about the state of the global economy. Shares of netflix higher, beat profit expectations last night, reported a surge in subscriber growth of nearly 9 million in the quarter. Netflixs crackdown on password sharing as well. Mark, your thoughts on earnings here because earnings will start to take the spotlight in terms of driving market activity. When you look at tesla, netflix and everyone else, youre seeing a more price conscious consumer. More and more times youre seeing that happen. Consumers are definitely feeling the negative impact of inflation and they are now trading down buying stuff thats less expensive, shopping at stores that are less expensive and youre going to continue to see that happen because inflation in fact Consumer Expectations for inflation are actually continuing to go higher so when you look at all the consumer day the take, gina, theres a huge disconnect in my opinion between Consumer Sentiment and confidence continuing to decline, yet retail Sales Numbers look strong, they surprise to the upside. Consumer spending still strong. What do you make of the disconnect . Well, i think that feeds into the soft landing narrative, mark. You know, we are and youre right, i mean, consumers are trading down but theyre still spending and i think theyre going to continue to spend because the job market is still tight. Its weakening just a little bit. But the consumer has jobs, theyre going to continue to spend. Theyre going to keep the economy afloat and i do not think were going to enter into a recession. Maria would you buy stocks here then, gina . Yeah, i am a buyer of stocks here. Weve seen a little bit of a pullback and we think its going to be a good earnings season. Theres a lot of reasons why were positive on the stock market. Fourth quarter, theres some seasonality coming into play. On october 2nd im sorry, october 12th, we just entered the second year of a bull market and 100 of the time second year of a bull market has been positive. Maria wow. We think its going to be yeah. 100 of the time. Earnings estimates have been resilient. And we think its going to also be a good holiday season. We, it is incumbent upon us to come together and pick a speaker. P republicans are right on the issues, theyre right on the border, theyre right on the debt, theyre right on the military. We have the answers that the American People need. But weve got to get this process done. Its up to jim jordan, he is the speaker designee, it is his right to go for another vote. The journal is reporting that jordan may be trying to woo of some new york republicans who earlier this year blocked the gop tax bill from advancing unless they got something on salt, this is something youre interested in as well, right . New jersey has the issue as well. Its an issue in new jersey, new york, connecticut, quite frankly in all the areas along the east coast, other areas as well, but that have high property taxes and because they have these high property taxes this is something that they seek. And if that is what needs to be done, thats something that we can work you out. But maria, i want to emphasize, the world is looking at us. We need to move forward and we have to, we must elect a speaker. We have the answers. Now its time to make the answers reality. Maria youre right. Tiana, jump in. Congressman, i need you to help me make it make sense. So congressman gaetz blows up the speaker pship in the name of fiscal responsibility. Now, this increasing salt deduction cap from 10,000 to 20,000 which i might add would not only un undo a significant portion of President Trumps tax cuts and jobs act, it would cost 54 billion threws 2025. This is a tax cut overwhelming majority for earners making over a quarter mill p i dont know mn blue states. Why should red states be punished for blue states being unable to balance their tax books . Thats the perpetual disagreement with this. Look, we need to keep the trump tax cuts in effect. We also need to start working our way towards a balanced budget and jim jordan has pointed that out. Weve gone forward, god help us if we do need to have another extension and we need to go forward with that. We need to have at least some sort of a cut in any kind of extension that we do. Thats important as well. So i get your point. But weve got to come together and weve got to work this out. And if we if thats what it takes to get a speaker then we need to of move forward.
