LISBON — The Lisbon Fire Department is considering applying for a grant to build a new fire station, pending the approval of village council.
Fire Chief Mark Hall proposed the idea of applying for the $700,000 to $800,000 grant from USDA to council during last week’s meeting. Hall also requested permission to purchase the back parking lot of Jay Mullins Auto at the corner of Jefferson and East Washington Street using money from the levy.
Currently, the department relies on street parking and the parking lots of nearby businesses. He said he worries that if the Steel Trolley Diner ever opens back up, they’ll lose their street parking.
