Public schools should teach more about being a good citizen, less about gender identity issues. John parents are protesting over transgender policies which prompted a Court Battle In One State Andout right defiance by a School District in another. Mark meredith joins us with more on all of this. How much are voters do we think focusing on education . John, quite a bit. Seems like this issue has broken up ever since the pandemic. Of course, always Hot Button Issues in politics, but education has played a more prominent role in the daily debate and new fox news polling explains why. Not enough time is spent on what you consider reading, writing, math, science, they say too much time is spent on gender issues, and most concerned too much time is spent on sexual orientation. And some believe its going to energize more voters going forward. What you are seeing is the vast majority of parents, wherever they are in the political spectrum, democrat, republican, want schools to focus on the basics, focus on reading, writing, science, math, civics. Outside d. C. In Fairfax County, the School District plans to ignore new Education Policies out of the state capital, richmond, require use a bathroom with their sex assigned at birth as opposed to the sex they identify with. Decision sets up a political showdown with the states governor, republican glenn youngkin, he campaigned heavily on traditional values in schools. And they say the fairfax Public Policy diverged from the guidance and perpetuate a false notion that the School System knows whats better for the child than the parent. The Fairfax County system is expected to follow the law. We have seen it in virginia and new jersey, a huge fight whether or not parents need to be notified when it comes to transgender issues so. Clearly, not just happening now but piling up before the election. John and virginia, too. Arlington Public Schools are doing it as well, and we will speak with a mom from arlington in the next hour. Then this, the Big Tech Censorship is heating up with fresh subpoenas to the doj and the fbi. Chairman jim jordan says its all going to help uncover how the Biden Administration colluded with big tech to censor free speech. Thats not what jordan is looking for. They want to know whats behind the scenes. Saying the First Amendment prohibits, and extent to which doj officials have coerced, pressured, and relied on social media and other Tech Companies censor speech. The department of justice denying they did the sort, saying The Department, including the fbi, does not censor on Social Media Platforms, they protect the platforms and users. The fbi also saying yes, they do Flag Information to social Media Companies but what they do with it is up to them, saying this, when the fbi identifies information that a hostile foreign actor is behind a social media account we share that information with the company. Social Media Companies independently decide what, if any, action to take on their own platforms for their own customers. Now, a source familiar with the back and forth between the fbi, doj, and the Committee Says the fbi and doj for months have been dragging their feet citing ongoing litigation, Security Concerns as to why they are not being more responsive to the request for information, but from the committee perspective, republicans on the Committee Say its not going to cut it. Quite frankly, we expect to get them after a court battle. Its very clear that they want to run out the clock, that when you sit when you are forced to send a subpoena and you get a publicly available document it really does say we are not going to give you anything without a court fight. So just as we held eric holder in contempt a decade ago, it is very, very likely that chairman jordan is going to have to take the next step, bring contempt, go to court, begin that long, sometimes long process if hes going to get the kind of discovery but its worth doing because it is clear that The Department of justice, cia, state department, and other actors, including Secretary Blinken and others, they have systematically wanted to stifle free speech, they probably want to stifle it since you were known as j. D. Roberts and Rush Limbaugh was still a sacramento deejay, but they are doing it with a vengeance. John i see no need to bring my age into all of this. Well, a good example, john, is that when they talked about they can alert as to foreign actors, well, in some cases it was seated members of congress they are referring to. The national defense, foreign actor defense, and russian collusion and using it here. A legitimacy when they have a real ongoing case and they know its a foreign actor. The interesting thing about that is most of the time when they have that kind of information they do just the opposite. They keep it secret, its part of their investigation to try to, if you will, expand a case. Most of the examples they have given are clearly a bias against free speech that usually involves americans with things the administration doesnt want to hear, whether its on covid or other areas, they have been doing it and of course, saying that they are not doing it that social Media Companies are doing it, once you have the conversation with the power of The Department of justice with a social media company, you cant say you are not influencing them. You clearly are. John here is what the agencies are saying in response. From the doj, The Department, including the fbi, does not censor content on Social Media Platforms. Private companies have the Sole Authority to protect their platform and users. Fbi, we are a Law Enforcement and Intelligence Agency responsible for working with companies in a lawful way to protect our communities from child predators and terrorists as well as hostile Foreign Countries like china, russia and iran, looking to exploit Social Media Platforms to commit crimes or threaten national security. What do you say to that . I say that if they have real evidence of hostile terrorist organizations, child predator, of Course Alerting makes sense. But if they have no evidence and they are simply taking their bias and sending it over, they have to be held accountable and thats what we believe has happened, we have examples and why jim jordan is saying show us the information and well judge because the results have been that they have stifled actual free speech of people they disagree with. Just in your expertise, mark, what are they going through and what is the best place for them, what kind of a situation would help them cope through this . Well, the most disturbing thing i found, other than the actual murder, was that the grandparents of the kids are keeping them away from their half siblings. Thats reprehensible. All of the kids need to continue to bond together as they were before he was fatally murdered. And i find that to be troubling and i would encourage the mother to go to court and to petition a judge to say whats in the best interest of the kids are for them to be together. Thats whats in their best interest at a time of need like this. Aishah even if she decides not to do that, lets say and her parents dont either, the other set of grandparents, they have some rights here, too. Correct . They are blood relatives, they should be able to at least have visitation rights, if not custody rights. What can they do legally here . Well, they can petition the court. Thats what family court is about. A judge will make a finding whats in the best interest of the kids. We hear that phrase constantly and a judge would sort it out. Grandparents have the right to show love, assuming there is unconditional love for their grandchildren and the kids have a right to be with other kids, especially during this traumatic situation. Aishah they have lost their father and now might lose their mother. Stability is key here. You know, shana claimed her innocence last month to a local Television Station down in florida. We expect that she would plead not guilty here with this indictment. How much would a judge take into account that she is a mother of two very vulnerable kids here when a judge would consider whether or not to give her bail. Interesting. The two different issues. Issue for bail is whether shes a danger to the community and or a risk of flight. The fact shes a mother, well, theres a value there, but shes accused of also committing an act which involved Reckless Disregard for his daughter, 2yearold daughter could have been killed for the actions she set in motion. This is a major storm now and it does have impacts for Southern California. For the first time in 84 years, we could be looking at near Tropical Storm force conditions right on the west coast near san diego. Its very active right now in the pacific and the atlantic but its this storm, hillary, we are talking about, and all eyes are fixated on this. Southern california rarely gets this type of action, and the first time san diegolong beach, we have a Tropical Storm watch. Rains will start saturday in advance of the Hurricane Making Landfall but its going to create major flood impacts. Hurricane hunters are inside the storm. They will collect a bunch of data, helps us to forecast. Thats why all the alerts are starting to increase. We have the hurricane watch down off of the western side of the baja peninsula, getting close to mexico near the border to california. Those are the alerts that are early. Also in place are flood watches. This is going to be a major storm for Southern California. Take it from san diego up to san bernardino, the Tropical Storm watch which is rare, never happened before, but look back to the cone. Category 4 storm is not going to hit Southern California but whats left of it will be extremely impactful. Maybe we get a sunday landfall somewhere in here possibly off the baja peninsula, or perhaps a Tropical Storm near Tropical Storm right on the california coast. Its only happened one other time in the last 100 years. Now, if you look at the rainfall totals this is really impressive and problematic. This storm could bring 3 to 5 inches of rainfall widespread, but pockets up to 10 or 12 inches. On the east side of i5, east san diego, 1 to 3 inches, and the west side, mountains, major impacts for palm strings, coachella, through the mountains and we are dealing with it through tuesday. Right now it costs way too much, it costs in the order of 6 to 12 trillion to get rid of all of it. Nobody is going to pony up that kind of money but we should be investigating whether we can make it a lot cheaper. Of course we shouldnt be fun of it like ineffective green technologies. Just got word it started about a minute ago, and we are talking about alibi in the hearing, one of the quirks of idaho law it requires defendants to be very specific about their alibi be disclosed prior to the trial and it requires a defendant to say exactly where they were when the crime was committed and who they were with, who can corroborate that location and all kohbergers lawyers said he was out driving around by himself late at night and early in the morning on the night the murders were committed. Six motions argued today, a big one the Defense Motion for a stay to delay the trial scheduled to start october 2nd to challenge the grand jury indictment on the grounds the jury was improperly assembled and instructed on the burden of proof. I believe the judge will grant a stay to allow the defense to investigate the grand jury proceeding. I dont think its going to go anywhere, but i do believe the judge is going to grant that motion. I dont believe that either party has enough time from now until october to get all their ducks in a row. The other key issue surrounds dna. Investigative genetic genealogy used by Law Enforcement to identify kohberger as a suspect. Dna on a kbar knife sheath. There was no data in the database so they built a family tree. The defense wants full disclosure on how the dna was handled, all the communication between lab workers and the names of every person on the family tree. There is no case law in idaho to direct the judge on how to rule as we have no idea how hes going to rule on this matter.
