Whats not clear if he will face some sort of state charge. This is a coup for Law Enforcement because they have this person alive. They are happy to be able to talk to him and get in his mind, find out motive, and see what he is willing to spill now that he is in custody. He has been at the Palm Beach County Jail where he spent the night and making that appearance here as we speak in Federal Court. Many are suggesting that dhs now runs the Secret Service and it should be back under the department of treasury. As far as allocation of manpower its possible. It could be a manpower issue. Secret service has discretion over how many people they can protect someone. Here it is warranted and a simple bipartisan letter saying we want to protect Donald Trump in the interest of his life but the welfare of our nation would do the trick. Dana thank you for joining us. He has a very antitrump ideology and liberally posting on Social Media. He is that type of Wing Nut that will take the message up and act on his own and do one for the team. I think the motivation here is going to come thats the motivation the f. B. I. Already knows about. Theyll protect their prosecution right now and not put out a lot of information but i think that motivation is pretty clear. Bill apparently he is not talking is what the sheriff said earlier today. Thats by design. My two questions, robin, where did he get the motivation and how did he know trump would be there at that time of day on a Sunday Afternoon . What are your questions . Secret service has protected them. They are big, Open Spaces but is there something that has been done in the past that they could maybe ratchet up in terms of a tactic for somebody like President Trump even if it doesnt involve more money or more personnel for the agency . Well, the first thing that comes to mind is dont be very careful about the President S schedule. In other words, limit the number of people that know that he is playing golf. Keep him off the putting green and the Driving Range before he goes out and plays because people could post that on Social Media and say the president is here and that would give would be assassin at least an hour in this case or an hour and 15 minutes to post up and set up the Snipers Nest on the sixth hole. Be more careful with that. I would have thought they had someone walking the fenceline outside the fenceline. Thats where the danger will come from, not on the Golf Course itself. That means it is sort of open to the public in some ways, Military Courses, ive worked many times when i was in the Secret Service with president obama golfing. And i have been on Military Courses where high ranking generals and colonels turned away from Tee Times and obama decided he would golf that day. You cant do that on a public or Semi Public course and this course also sort of borders public areas, major highways and thoroughfares. Very difficult for the Secret Service to set up perimeters in that kind of environment. It is not like you see on tv where the Secret Service will come in and have this milelong corridor and shut everything down. There are adjacent businesses. It is not possible to do that. Very difficult for the Secret Service to establish a protective bubble here on a Semi Public Golf Course. Dana you said that people can come and go within reason around that bubble and thats not going to stop. So then what happens . You say in a Perfect World the Secret Service would have more agents and would not be understaffed. Yeah. Dana, i said this back in july on your show and other fox shows. Perfect world the Secret Service at that Golf Course would have had 1,000 agents, 50 Counter Sniper teams. It is not the reality. A lot of cases im very proud to have worked there. I have friends that still work there. In my opinion the best federal Law Enforcement agency there. The best protective agency in the world. However, every director since 9 11 really missed an opportunity to ask for more funding and more resources. When you look at the comparison of the budget of the f. B. I. And Secret Service there is no comparison there. So the Secret Service has got to take a hard look after this second attempt and ask some serious questions. Do we want to lose investigations and just solely Focus On Protection . Additionally they need to go to congress saying we have got to have more funding. Dana one last quick question based on your experience, do you think it matters that the Secret Service be under department of Homeland Security or go back to the Treasury Department . Yeah, dana, i hear that debate all the time. It was debated when i was there. Frankly, in my opinion it doesnt matter what agency they are under, what umbrella they fall under.
