DALLAS — On June 15, 2012, President Barack Obama signed an executive order to implement Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. The action protected children who migrated to the U.S. from being deported.
Ramiro Luna, co-founder of the North Texas Dream Team, said he remembered how he felt the day Obama signed the order.

Biden tells Putin certain cyberattacks should be 'off-limits'

4 Min Read
GENEVA (Reuters) -U.S. President Joe Biden told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday that certain critical infrastructure should be “off-limits” to cyberattacks, but analysts said his efforts were unlikely to be more successful than previous attempts to carve out safe zones online.
Biden wasn’t explicit about which areas he wanted out of bounds, but spoke of 16 kinds of infrastructure - an apparent reference to the 16 sectors designated as critical by the U.S. Homeland Security Department, including telecommunications, healthcare, food and energy.
“We agreed to task experts in both our countries to work on specific understandings about what is off-limits,” Biden said following a lakeside summit with Putin in Geneva. “We’ll find out whether we have a cybersecurity arrangement that begins to bring some order.”

President Biden gave Putin custom aviator sunglasses during summit

President Biden gave Putin custom aviator sunglasses during summit
By Kevin Liptak and Kate Sullivan, CNN
President Joe Biden gifted Russian President Vladimir Putin a pair of custom aviator sunglasses made by Randolph USA during their summit on Wednesday, according to a White House official.
The sunglasses are made by an American company that has provided them to the US military and its NATO partners.
Biden also gifted the Russian President a crystal sculpture of an American bison — the national mammal of the US — made by Steuben Glass of New York, according to the official.
The gift of aviators with ties to NATO is symbolic and comes on the heels of a summit of the defense alliance in Brussels that Biden attended. During that summit, Biden reaffirmed the US’ commitment to the military alliance and urged western allies to better align themselves against Russia and China.

GENEVA (AP) — President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded their summit on Wednesday with an agreement to return their nations' ambassadors to their posts in Washington and Moscow and a plan to begin work toward replacing the last remaining treaty between the two countries limiting nuclear weapons.
But the two leaders offered starkly different views on difficult simmering issues including cyber and ransomware attacks originating from Russia.

The Koch brothers’ network of donor class organizations is lobbying Congress to “immediately prioritize” amnesty for millions of illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
In a statement marking the anniversary of former President Barack Obama’s DACA program — allowing hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to remain in the United States — the Kochs’ Libre Initiative released a statement asking lawmakers to immediately pass an amnesty.
“The time for Congress to act is now, full stop,” the statement reads:
And the only way to ensure that another ten years don’t pass us by without action on this critical  issue is for lawmakers to work together on a permanent legislative solution for Dreamers.

Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, contains the remains of more than 400,000 people from the United States and 11 other countries, buried there since the 1860s.
More than three million people visit the cemetery annually.

Arlington House (also known as Custis-Lee Mansion) is currently a memorial for Robert E. Lee and run by the National Park Service.

GENEVA —In a political career spanning four decades, President Biden has seen American presidents from both parties try to transform the U.S. relationship with Russia only to leave office disappointed.
In his first meeting as commander in chief with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Biden intended not to make the same mistake.
He would make no overtures for a reset in relations, and his pessimism about the prospects of changing Putin’s mind on issues such as human rights would inform his actions.
“This is not about trust. This is about self-interest,” he told reporters at a news conference in Switzerland after a three-hour summit on Wednesday. “This is not a kumbaya moment.”

Nolte: Tucker Carlson More than Doubled Barack Obama's CNNLOL Audience

Failed former President Barack Obama appeared on CNNLOL last week and pulled in less than half as many viewers as Tucker Carlson on Fox News:—More…
CNN[LOL] desperately needed a ratings boost from its interview with former President Obama on Monday after the liberal network failed to reach 1 million viewers for an unprecedented six consecutive days.
The 44th commander in chief sat down with CNN[LOL] anchor Anderson Cooper for an hour-long special, earning 1.4 million viewers according to Nielsen data. Despite booking one of the nation’s most popular Democrats, Cooper was still trounced by Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” which earned 2.97 million viewers, more than double of the Obama interview during the 8 p.m. ET timeslot.

How Biden Followed in Trump's Footsteps in Europe

U.S. President Joe Biden smiles at the G-7 summit in Carbis Bay on June 12, 2021 in Carbis Bay, Cornwall.
A key storyline of President Joe Biden’s overseas trip was how different Biden was from President Donald Trump, and indeed he was—except in one crucial area.
Biden’s hawkishness on China, which figured prominently during the trip, was a reflection of how fundamentally Trump changed our posture toward Beijing.
It is the ultimate victory for a politician if he doesn’t just reorient his own party, but the other party—Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher both did this, producing more moderate Democratic and Labor leaders in Bill Clinton and Tony Blair, respectively.

independentpersian.com
