SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Public Schools board is now taking submissions for a new name for Sheridan Elementary.
The school board unanimously voted to change the name of Sheridan Elementary last week—named after Union General Philip Sheridan, who waged a violent campaign against Native Americans in the Midwest, and is attributed with the phrase “The only good Indian is a dead Indian.”
Now, Spokane Public Schools is looking for a new name for the school.
