High surf warning extended, expanded for large northwest swell

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A new, larger northwest swell is expected to move down the island chain Thursday into Thursday night, with waves exceeding warning levels by sunset on New Year’s Eve.
The National Weather Service has expanded a high surf warning, which now covers the north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai and the north-facing shores of Maui.
