In the Sahel, Europe needs to rethink its approach to climate change and conflict

Climate change is having dramatic consequences for livelihoods in the Sahel and should not be underestimated. However, directly linking climate change to an increase in radicalisation and inter-communal fighting is not only too superficial an assumption, but may end up doing more harm than good.
