Judge declines to dismiss case against woman charged in fatal overdose

MUNCIE, Ind. — A Delaware County judge has declined to dismiss a criminal charge stemming from a pregnant woman's fatal overdose.
Jessica May Campbell, 33 — formerly of Muncie and more recently of Springport in northern Henry County — is charged in Delaware Circuit Court 2 with dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, a Level 1 felony carrying up to 40 years in prison.
Authorities allege Campbell in August 2018 sold heroin to Ashley Nicole Rudisill, a 27-year-old Muncie woman who was eight months pregnant.
A day later, Rudisill died of an overdose that also killed her unborn child.
