Judge orders Sarpy County commissioners to delay naming new treasurer

(Sarpy County, NE) -- The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners tables a resolution to appoint Trace Jones as the new Sarpy County Treasurer.
The resolution was tabled after District Court Judge Geoffrey C. Hall issued a preliminary injunction, requested by former Sarpy County Treasurer Brian Zuger. The county says the injunction does not reinstate Zuger, but prevents the Board from naming a permanent replacement until Zuger’s legal challenge is heard or until the injunction is lifted. Zuger was removed from office after a state auditor’s report found several discrepancies in how the treasurer’s office had distributed funds to schools and cities.
