(Sarpy County, NE) The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners tables a resolution to appoint Trace Jones as the new Sarpy County Treasurer.
The resolution was tabled after District Court Judge Geoffrey C. Hall issued a preliminary injunction, requested by former Sarpy County Treasurer Brian Zuger. The county says the injunction does not reinstate Zuger, but prevents the Board from naming a permanent replacement until Zuger’s legal challenge is heard or until the injunction is lifted. Zuger was removed from office after a state auditor’s report found several discrepancies in how the treasurer’s office had distributed funds to schools and cities.

The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners says they will interview the applicants on May 10th and May 18th. The Board says they will interview four candidates on May 10th and three candidates on May 18th. Following the interviews, the Board will appoint a new Treasurer, who will serve until January 2023.
