Updated: 5:36 PM CDT Jul 23, 2021 A resolution that will go before the Sarpy County Board of Commissioners Tuesday outlines allegations of sexual harassment against county public defender Tom Strigenz. According to the resolution, the county received three anonymous complaints alleging Strigenz was having an 'interpersonal relationship' with a subordinate. The resolution states Strigenz was asked to resign, but refused. The Sarpy County Public Defender is an elected position. The board does not have the power to fire him. Sarpy County hired an independent firm to investigate the allegations. The resolution states Strigenz refused to cooperate with the investigation and that "he likely threatened and intimidated witnesses."Since the Board cannot vote to remove him, the resolution is being issued to object to Strigenz's alleged conduct and encourage employees with information or concerns to report to Human Resources. In a statement to KETV NewsWatch 7, Strigenz said he is currently studying the language of the resolution, but, "I always encourage employees to report any harassment or intimidation as no one should feel unwelcome or uncomfortable at work."Strigenz told KETV NewsWatch 7 his primary responsibility is "providing zealous representation to the clients entrusted to the Sarpy County Public Defender Office and am very proud of all members of this office who do that on a daily basis."Stay with KETV NewsWatch 7 for the latest on this developing story.
