Justice signs gas and oil tax valuation bill into law | Legislative Session

Gov. Jim Justice has signed into law, on March 27, 2024, legislation to remove a sunset provision on West Virginia gas and oil tax assessment methodology backed by the industry but unpopular with landowners and tax officials in gas-producing counties. The law, House Bill 4850, eliminates a sunset provision that was slated to go into effect July 1, 2025.
