KALAMAZOO, MI – The firing of a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer was not discriminatory, a judge ruled.
Amir Khillah, an American citizen who moved to the United States from Egypt in 1992 for religious asylum, was fired March 2018 after his report misrepresented facts of a case in a traffic stop and arrest for drug possession, according to a joint statement of facts from Khillah’s attorney and the city of Kalamazoo.
