William von disappeared from a work crew just after 7 00 this morning. We are told he was assigned to kitchen work crew as rehabilitation program. He is serving a sentence for drug and theft charges. If you see him call 9 1u11. Authorities say they busted 33 people for staging Car Accidents to defraud insurance companies. More than half a Million Dollars was paid out while many of the accused were in morgan hill the accidents happened all over the bay area. The District Attorneys Office says drivers would say they spilled hot coffee causing them to crash into another vehicle which was driven by someone part of the alleged scheme. A scathing grand jury report says ambulances in San Francisco arent getting to those who need help quickly enough. Vic lee is live tonight from city hall and taking a lot of heat on this one. Reporter it is a damming report on the state of the Fire Department. It says the department has no Strategic Planning and that technology is simply absent or outdated and the firehouses but the most serious criticism is directed at the ambulances. Supervisor says she asked chief for some answers. Unfortunately, i still have not gotten information that indicates that there are any major changes that are going to happen to the department. Reporter last summer a statue toppled on to a toddler. Police and firefighters came immediately but it took a Fire Department ambulance 13 minutes to arrive exceeding the departments goal of a ten minute response time. 2yearold Cason Shelton later died at the hospital. Since then fire chief has made improvements. In particularly bringing in new ambulances and training new paramedics so i feel like shes working on solutions. Reporter the grand jury believes ambulances are not responding to emergencies fast enough and often enough. The report adds there is a chronic lack of serviceable ambulances and they are spaced in different parts of the city which says effects the response time. For example, people who live in the western part of San Francisco may have longer waits for ambulances than people who live in the downtown part of San Francisco. Are respect the report also criticizes the Fire Department for failure to find a new home for Training Center now at treasure island. The department has been told it has to vacate the facility. In colorado this afternoon 155 guilty verdicts handed down to james holmes the shooter in the deadly aurora, colorado movie massacre. We the jury find the defendant guilty of murder in the first degree after deliberation. Holmes was convicted of killing 12 movie goers and injuring 70. The case enters the penalty phase where jurors must decide whether holmes should be put to death or serve life in prison. A symbolic vote today condemning acts antisemitism. The Senate Unanimously approved a resolution. Two large swastikas were found on the house in february. Lawmakers voted to merge elections with low voter turnout numbers with state elections.
