I have good news for commuters heading through palo alto. First piece, it is not raining. So a little easier to control your car out here on the roads. Second piece of good news is that highway 101 is now open here at edge bambarcadero road being closed all night. Two lanes of northbound 101 north of the interchange began to loosen and unravel yesterday afternoon creating deep grooves and potholes. Those two lanes were closed at 3 30 in the afternoon while paving crews worked to getting them fixed. Eventually all of 101 was closed and diverted traffic. They estimated it reopening at 6 00 a. M. , but good news for commuters, it is now open at 4 00 a. M. Matt keller, abc 7 news. And four people were taken to the hospital after two cars collided headon during heavy rain in east contra costa county. This happened at the intersection of sand creek road and fairview avenue. You can see just how badly the cars are. Several ambulances were called into help with the people who were hurt. Despite the rain, authorities a have not yet said water was the cause. And chp telling everybody to slow down. Flooding roads made for a frustrating combination. A driver killed monday afternoon when they lost control and hit a tree on page mill road in palo alto. Chp reported some two dozen accidents on highway 17 alone. I dont like driving in the rain. I get nervous because other people dont know how you to drive or they seem to slow down and no need to brake and just everyone acts crazy when its raining. A lot of crazy drivers out there. Right now were looking good, but regardless, we still want our community to remain vigilant, we want them to report something if they see it, dont take it for on granted. If they see flooding, debris floe, please report to 911. And in sonoma county, several trees came down knocking out power. But the power has been restored. And firefighters had to blalg battle a twoalarm fire at a home on stone crest court. The Quick Response combined with the rain actually helped the fire from spreading to neighboring homes. Everyone made it out okay. Not clear initially sparked the flames. And so far in San Franciscos Mission district, sand bags and barricades are doing their jobs. A strike team is on call in case any flooding problems a rise. The city is working on a long Term Solution to improve drainage. And we need the rain. All the reservoirs in the south bay are standing at little more than half of the normal average during this time of year. Water Officials Say the rain is encouraging considering we had such a dry december. And coming up from the south from hollister, gilroy, morgan hill, another batch of showers that will be rolling over the south bay over the next hour or so. There is a small chance of an isolated shower tomorrow. Right now just call it mostly cloudy. And then well have a mixture of sun and clouds thursday and then you can see the low to mid60s start to roll in friday and hang around through sunday.
