Relief is not far away, ill tell you in a few minutes. Dan and ama. The warriors dodged elimination last night in toronto. What a cost. With the win comes the loss of kevin durant. Try to stay with durant. Durant is open, he goes down holding his leg. It was durants first game back from a calf injury. This time he injured his achilles. Many athletes have sent well wishes, tiger woods he knows what durant is going through. You can see it on his face. How solemn his face was. When things pop, you just know. Its an awful feeling. Here at the chase center where we know the warriors will play next year, hopefully with kevin durant, that doctor we talked to defended the Team Physicians choice theres questions about what happened last night and what happens next. It was a bittersweet victory. I think i was tearing up. The warriors nailbiter win over the Toronto Raptors overshadowed by this moment. Kevin durant limping off the court. He played game 5 of the fiejs monday after sitting out for 30 days recovering from a calf injury. Now he could be out longer. My guess is hell be out for, six months to a year. Hes the former orthopedic physician for the warriors. We asked him for his playbyplay take on the moment he was injured. As you see, he plants to accelerate as hes going towards the top of the key. As he plants that right foot down, his heel goes down as hes accelerating forward. If you watch that video, thats probably when the injury occurred is the first step. As he goes to plant and turns his back, he plants again on his right foot, thats when he drops the ball and im suspicious at this moment is when he realized he hurt it on the planting just prior to that step. In a tearful press conference after the game, warriors general manager bob meyers says durant suffered an injury to his achilles, the same leg as his calf injury. He had clearance from the doctors to retun to the court but offered to take the blame. I dont believe theres anybody to blame. But i understand this world and if you have to, you can blame me. I run our operations department. Five weeks is a reasonable time to recover from a calf injury. Achilles injury takes longer. But he believes durant would make a comeback. I dont see a reason to believe he wont play again. Reporter the doctor says hes seen no research that says having a calf injury makes you more susceptible to an achilles injury. Now we get to start down to the reopening date of july 1st. But we found out that date might not mean what you think. Reporter its complicated. Thats how many San Francisco residents feel about the sal salesfor salesforce. A crack was found on a beam and another one. No bus service yet. I think its pretty ridiculous. One of the biggest problems in San Francisco is the transit system. I think its always delayed and it being continually delayed. The question that many are asking, it opens july 1st. But why not Transit Service . We had to remove ceiling panels and covers in order to inspect the facility. We need time to put the column covers back, reinstall the ceiling panels before we can allow the operators to use the bus plaza. After eight months of an intense inspection, authority says its all been fixed. Is the building right now 100 safe . Yes, its 100 safe and has been probably reviewed and looked at more than any other building in the city. Reporter metropolitan Transportation Commission confirmed that the panel of International Experts and construction signed off on had last night at 7 00 p. M. No more cracks . Well, look, there are cracks and then there are cracks that matter. Theres nothing perfect in any structure. Weve been checking every single day since it shut down. You can see what its taken to get the center ready to reopen by reading through this timeline on our website, abc7news. Com. The city of San Francisco is Police Department and the police chief were slapped with a lawsuit today filed by officers who say they were discriminated against in the promotions process. Abc 7 News Reporter vic lee is live with the story for us tonight. Vic . Reporter ama, there was a similar lawsuit filed in the city against the San Francisco city and the San FranciscoPolice Department about 16, 17 years ago, which resulted in a 1. 6 million settlement with the city. Now, this lawsuit was filed by 13 white officers who applied for promotions as sergeant, lieutenant and captain. Appears that theres a lot of favoritism taking place and i think most of it is based on race and gender. Sergeant thomas walsh was passed over for promotion to lieutenant. In the top 20 names on the list. Ive been skipped twice. Sergeant brian greer ranked 17 on the lieutenants test. I was given no reasoning. I was given no information at all about why i was passed over for promotion. My clients are not mad at other Police Officers. Were upset with the system. We dont think its trans paint. Lieutenant rick schiff is ranked 12th on the captains promotion list. He too, was passed over. This is a 40year pattern of discrimination. Promotions to sergeants, lieutenants and captains are based on Civil Service exams. In certain cases the chief can factor in special skills like education, training, awards, something called secondary criteria. Gender and race cannot be considered. The lawsuit alleges chief William Scott has been doing just that. At the end of a lenl it mat promotionalal process, the chief administration bastardizes the process to pick who they want. Why give an exam in the first place . The officers in the lawsuit say this is not about race or gender, that its about a level playing field. The reason they came up with Civil Service exams like this was to avoid nepotism, favoritism and racial inequality to begin with. Police Union President tony montoya says his group is not a party to the suit but wants the exams to be the sole criteria in promotions. If you go rank order appointments, meaning you promote those who scored the highest first and move down the list, you cant go wrong. Reporter the San FranciscoPolice Department referred us to the city attorneys office. Its spokesman told us that they are reviewing the lawsuit and also that they use Civil Service exam and not age, race, religion gender as criteria. We also reached out to the officers for justice, the African American police group but they have yet to respond. Vic lee, abc 7 news. All right. What is water worth to you . Eric tran and jessica lee never left their dogs with anyone until may 17th when they paid for three days of boarding at a Training Facility for dogs in santa clara. They knew the owner, used the Companys Services before and they trusted them. We received a text update that our two dogs were in a fight and that the trainer that was taking care of our dog brought our sheba to the vet and they said there is nothing wrong with him. Its just minor injuries. So they released him. Thats according to sherri. And then the following afternoon, we received another text and it was basically, your dog is dying. Hes gone into shock and hes dying. By the time the couple got home, their dog was dead. Their dogs were in the care of sherry gray, she was contracted by bay area canine association.
