In fact if you look at the radar image you will notice it has got a very dramatic eye, and with winds of 145 miles per hour, moving to the west, we are waiting for the jog to move to the north. As it does we will have the carolinas and georgia come into play here where we could see definitely the storm surge, and looking at some flooding rains, anywhere from one to two feet of rain. This will continue to move to the west, and then it is going to stall a little bit. As it stalls over the bahamas, certainly not good news because thats when the rainfall and the storm surge will continue to inundate the area. We are looking at anywhere from 10 to 15 inches of rain for the bahamas, isolated 20 inches, and the storm surge where the water comes above the land and we are looking at serious flooding, large as well as. He was a repeat offender and undocumented immigrant who had been deported five times when the gun he fired shot and killed kate steinle in 2015. On thursday a multi Agency Effort put this crew in cuffs, people who now face charges of commercial burglary, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and more. 100 different burglaries are not committed by 100 different people. Theyre committed by crews such as this. Taking down one crew like this will clear a lot of burglary cases up and prevent many more from occurring. Thats where they saw a great white breach the water with a seal in its mouth. We were paddling along mile rock beach and we saw a couple of seals on the rocks. We were talking, ah, theyre so cute. We were stoked. The shark came up, macked the seal in front of us and we looked at each other and started sprinting for the shore. Okay. Well, the two men estimate that the shark was about 14 feet long. Noaa experts say the sighting fits the great whites seasonal migratory pattern. The sharks are known to breed near the faralons islands in september and october. Lisa, you did not tell me this. I did not know we should expect sharks out and about along the coastline, not that i will be in the water but you never know. You never know, and youre right. There are many shark sighting in fact around stenson and they like the cold water and you have to get close to the coast with our upwelling to enjoy the cold water for the sharks. An east bay Water District is getting ready for a rupture on the hayward fault by installing new flexible water mains. Abc 7 News ReporterLeslie Brinkley has the details. Reporter we are in the middle of the hayward fault zone. We could be standing on the hayward fault right now. Reporter east bay Senior Civil Engineer overseeing pipe replacement is really excited about the new materials theyre using. Right now were putting in pieces of pipe that are tenfeet long. At every joint, the joint can move three inches back and forth. So when you add that up over 1,000 feet, you get quite a bit of movement that the pipe can withstand during a seismic event. Reporter it is laborious and expensive. There are 4,000 miles of water pipes this year. Theyre tackling 17 1 2 miles of it, using money from julys 6. 5 rate hike. Those rate dollars make Infrastructure Improvements like this possible, so that we can strengthen our system and make it more reliable. We are prepping our water system for the big one. It is definitely a hassle, but i want it to be done so were safe in future earthquakes. Weve had problems with pipe leakage as it is. Reporter 11 crews are fanned out across the east bay mud service area, replacing the old pipe with the flexible pipe mile by mile. East bay mud says the new pipes should be able to withstand the seismic pressure of a major earthquake with a life stapan o 120 years. That means they wont need to be replaced until 2140. Pipeline is being replaced across the east bay, richmond, orinda, oakland, castro valley, and east bay mud says that next year theyre amping it up a bit, aiming for 20 miles of new pipe. On the peninsula sheriffs deputies are looking for this bank robber seen wearing a long, dark wig and medical mask to hide his face. So earlier this year we did a mass interment and several weeks later i was approached by jacob who was a senior at kingsburg high school, hes also a boy scout. He asked that if part of his eagles scout requirement could be filling making these crosses and permanently marking these sites that traditionally were marked just by a wooden cross. He wanted to make new crosses, make them out of metal so they would last for years to come. Well, i designed the crosses. I had scouts, family and friends help primer the crosses and paint the crosses. Now were out here placing them today. This is the outside of this one. Yes. For the rest of us, well, we will have that typical summer spread where temperatures are comfortable at the coast and then we will see that warmup as we get inland. So temperatures really climbing into the 90s well east of 680. We are talking walnut creek, livermore, antioch, but mild temperatures at the shoreline. Looks like it is going to make a jog along the floridacotline, impacting georgia and the carolinas into tuesday and wednesday. So looking at that 10 to 15 foot storm surge and potentially serious flooding for the bahamas and impacting now it looks like the carolinas and georgia. So by labor day, evacuations probably getting under way along the southeast coast. Community journalist melissa pixar has the preview. Reporter this weekend is the 154th scottish highland games happening at the Alameda County fair grounds. It is a twoday event you dont want to miss. The scottish games held annually at the add immediate au County Fair Grounds in pleasanton. The oldest west of the mississippi. The highlights are the pipe bands and what is called heavy events, which includes probably the most famous, the caber. It is a long log cut from a tree. The caber is 17 1 2 feet, about 75 to 85 pounds. The caber is very they can be anywhere from 18 feet to 120 or 130 pounds. The scots made anything you can think about out of the game. This is heavy. You feel it . Oh, cool. Whoa. It is so monumental because it is very unique. Where else . You dont see any other sport where you do that. Theres a caber, theres a weight over the bar.
