We learned today that labs across the country are currently near or at capacity due to the increasing demand for coronavirus tests in recent days. Your thoughts . I think overall this is a good thing. To my knowledge, the companies arent necessarily running out of the tests themselves, but its more a matter of the capacity that theyre able to process these tests. There are new results out from pfizer regarding promising news on antibodies developed during the vaccine trial. What do you think about this data . Overall, im cautiously optimistic. The data was one of the early phases of the vaccine trial that looked at a small cohort of patients and showed that overall, the vaccine that theyre testing is safe. That allows us to then go on to the next phase of the trial that really looks at a larger group of patients and looks at the actual antibody response and what that antibody response means. The New York Times is reporting researchers are debating whether to infect people with the coronavirus on purpose to test vaccines. What more can you tell us about this . Its an interesting idea that isnt entirely novel, its been used for other vaccine trials in the past. The difference is in the past, it was often used for diseases where there was another type of treatment available. At the end of the day, it comes down to a risk benefit discussion and whether the risk of infecting individuals that we dont entirely know whats going on with the virus outweighs the benefit of getting more results faster. So pretty much there, its not worth it, according to the doctor, when it comes to thinking about intentionally infecting someone with this coronavirus when we know how lethal, how dangerous it could be. But again, that debate continues on. We were seeing that rush to get a vaccine that a lot of people are hoping for. Coming up, one patriotic coming up, one patriotic spread. Noooo. Nooooo. Yeeeesss. The fourth of july is rapidly approaching, and while social distancing will make things a little different this year, theres no reason you still cant have a blowout celebration. Joining us this morning with some spectacular menu ideas is americas ceo, that is chief entertaining officer, tim laird. Tim, thank you for sending over these cherry sparklers. I have the alcoholfree version, which is reminding me of a shirley temple. Youre telling me you can spike these a little as well . Exactly, mona. We have some fun and festive ideas for a fourth of July Celebration at home. And i love the fact that were starting out for the adults. I have a cherry sparkler. Everybody likes sparklers. When i make cocktails, i usually use this three olives vodka, superpremium vodka thats wheat based. Its well balanced and makes great cocktails. They have different flavors like grapefruit, watermelon. Today im going to use their cherry. And i start out with some festive ice cubes, basically in lemonade ive frozen cocktail cherries. That will be my ice so it doesnt dilute it, but you also get your garnish in there at the same time. That starts out with 1 1 2 ounces of my three olives cherry vodka, and this cherry just smells like real dark cherries. Its so delicious. Just like the fruit. Top that with three ounces of lemonade. For the sparkling part, a little club soda to get it going. Then jus then, mona, yes, on set you have our alcoholfree version which is simply the lemonade with a little bit of cherry juice and some of that club soda on top. Heres to a safe and fun fourth of july, mona. Cheers. Cheers, tim. See how it tastes. Theres a lot of things we want to keep out of our drinks this year. Not just the coronavirus and all the other germs, but also those annoying mosquitos. I heard you have a trick for that as well . I do, mona. Those bugs get into your cocktail when you set it down and grab some food. Heres a great idea. I take an upside down cupcake holder, put that over my cocktail, straw in the center. Then you set your cocktail down, no bugs in your drink. And also have plenty of water to keep all your guests and yourselves hydrated. Heres a fun salad. It is watermelon, tomato, a little bit of cucumber, some redn on, and a vinaigrette dressing with olive oil and lemon juice and a little salt and pepper. I have some basil in there as well, delicious. All served in individual cups. Then for my entree here, Everybody Loves buffalo chicken wings. But we dont like to mess with the bones. Im going to serve my buffalo chicken in a cup. Everything in an individual cup. So i have four cups of shredded chicken here. And to that, half a cup of blue cheese dressing, half a cup of my little hot sauce, mix that all up, and then layer that in the bottom of a cup. Then top with chopped celery and a little bit of blue cheese. Ovth as you can see from my shirt, as a kid i loved bomb pops and i love them as an adult. I have a great presentation but this has to be under adult supervision. In the center, i have a little dry ice. Pour a little water over it. Oh, a little science there. And you get a wonderful presentation. Then again, dont serve this with the dry ice. Have the same adult once that dissipates in two to three mites, remove the bowl, then present your bomb pops to your guests. This will hold down on the dripping with a cupcake holder. I loved those as a kid as well, tim. For these and other Independence Day celebration ideas, check out tims Facebook Page as well as our own page wnnfans. Com.
