Oakland fire says what ignited the blaze is a gasoline generator hooked up because power was cut off by pg e because of the red flag warning posted for the east bay hills. It was a huge explosion. Its like i hear a neighbor saying its the generator that explode and then we see the fire all over the place and i started to shake and everybody just get panicked and started to run all over the place. Reporter this family lives next door. It was a second explosion and the fire went across the street into the other peoples yard. And the whole house just went up in smoke and flames, and then the cars exploded right after that. At least two cars. Reporter there were a total of four explosions as the fire tore through two homes, flames running up a power pole and embers flying everywhere until the wild wind catching a fence on fire. Oakland fire made an aggressive attack fearing it could spread quickly. We were fortunate to have prepositioned strike teams from hayward and fremont fire nearby able to respond as we have our strike teams around the region right now during the red flag conditions. Reporter by 11 30 the flames were out, no injuries, no formal evacuations in this neighborhood above highway 13 but terrified residents like this woman that lived through the 91 firestorm were ready. A total of eight people displaced as of tonight. Latest estimates say the power should be back on in the area but 6 00 this evening. In napa, 7700 customers without power still and delays in getting them turned back on because of persistent winds in the area. M. , you can see winds less than 10 Miles Per Hour and that on shore breeze, a very light on shore breeze will kick in early tomorrow morning and winds that will still remain pretty calm for the morning hours. But the big story, the increasing humidity, well find moist air moving in thanks to the light on shore breeze. By tomorrow morning, its dry in the north bay but not nearly as dry as we have been. The relative humidity close to the coast is rather high around Half Moon Bay in San Francisco. So were going to start to get rid of the dry air as winds really subside overnight tonight. The answer might surprise you. Some folks may opt to fly during this holiday season. Now, passenger loads are not expected to be anywhere near years past but if you choose to play at Oakland International airport to show you the experience you can have to keep you safe during the pandemic. If you opt not to take a ride share, the first point of contact is the parking lot. Its a contactless experience from entering to exiting. A ticket will automatically come out as you enter the parking lot, when youre ready to leave, use your credit or debit card without touching a single thing.
