But just in the last hour, we have learned that management from the Kaiser Permanente side and Union Officials were still at the bargaining table, hoping to come up with a last minute deal. Now, they had been working again throughout the night to come up with this deal. Kaiser told us around 4 a. M. That there had been a lot of progress with agreements reached on several specific proposals late tuesday. We remain committed to reaching a new agreement that continues to provide our employees with market leading wages excellent benefits, generous Retirement Income plans, and valuable professional development opportunities. If a deal is not reached in the next hour, 75,000 workers are set to walk off the job at 6 a. M. Nationwide. But about 80 of those workers are right here in california with 6618 locations in the bay area. The strike is scheduled to last for three days, through 6 a. M. On saturday, say a Radiology Technician in oakland says some of the top concerns Union Members want to see addressed is chronic understaffing. Worker burnout and low pay prices is right now. And i think that its getting worse. Health care workers should be able to focus on taking care of patients when theyre at work. They shouldnt have to worry about where theyre going to sleep at at night. Kaiser says if a strike does happen, they are prepared. They have assured patients their hospitals and ers will remain open, even if some nonemergency tsay services might have to be rescheduled again. A mystery developing in san jose involving a group of undocumented migrants. They were dropped off without any heads up the san jose nonprofit that took in the migrants is confirming to us that the group is adults and kids. Originally from south america, they were left at first and willow over the weekend right near a local church. Abc7 news south bay reporter Laura Martinez is looking into how they got here and what happens next. A san jose nonprofit is connecting 12 undocumented immigrants to vital resources after they were reportedly dropped off a member from the organization Amigos De Guadalupe Center confirmed a group of adults and children were bused in from el paso, texas and dropped off in the guadalupe, Washington Neighborhood on saturday evening, he said. Theyre connecting them with resources, busses, food, clothing and health centers. That journey to be here at this moment has been traumatic, and there is no journey that is easy. The Department Said homicide detectives will be interviewing everyone involved, even looking through home Surveillance Footage from neighbors. Although this isnt a homicide case, theyre the best detectives that we have available and correspond with the district attorney. So as the progression of the investigation continues, they can Work Together on making sure to solidify that portion of the case. According to the States Department of social services, the home Daycare Center was licensed in january of 2021 to 2 people, and the center was cited several times during inspection checks, including in order to adjust the pool fence. San francisco supervisor voted to extend a parking site lease for dozens of rvs are parked at candlestick point. The Bayview Vehicle Triage Center lease will last for at least another two years. We are watching our winds closely this morning. They are pretty breezy in our hills. We have this off shore wind that is going to warm us up this afternoon. But this morning were keeping a close eye on it in parts of the north bay mountains because it is bringing low humidity levels and some warm temperatures this morning. Five people, including four students, are recovering after they were shot near morgan state university. That gunfire there sent students running and sheltering in place overnight. Jobina. Okay, marci, right now there is no suspect in custody and Police Determine that it was safe to lift shelter in place orders around midnight and swat teams combed through dorm buildings before an all clear was given. The first reports of gunfire prompted an active shooter situation around 930 last night as students and alumni were celebrating homecoming week. Witnesses say multiple people fired at a crowd with bullets hitting surrounding buildings during a press conference. The Baltimore Mayor made a plea for broader gun safety reforms in the city. This looming strike involves 75,000 kaiser workers nationwide, but about 80 of those employees are right here in california, with 16 locations in the bay area. The unions representing these workers say theyre protesting unfair labor practices and unsafe staffing levels. They added that the last time they negotiated a contract was in 2019, well before the pandemic, a conflict resolution expert who was on the former kaiser Union Negotiating Team says while doctors and nurses will be ready to go, hospital disruptions could include clerical staff. Meal service and housekeeping, which impacts infection control. So patients will feel an immediate impact, especially when they need lab work. Diagnostic imaging, pharmacy vision care. And so on. Because most of the employees who are the bulk of those workers in those facilities would be on strike. Kaiser says if a strike does happen, they are prepared. They have assured patients their hospitals and ers will still remain open, even if some Nonemergency Services might have to be rescheduled. And now again, this strike is expected to start in only about 30 minutes this morning. The flags are flying at half staff in memory of the late senator Dianne Feinstein today, the body of the late San Francisco mayor will lie in state inside the rotunda of city hall from 9 00 in the morning until 7 p. M. Already her bust is there and its surrounded by flowers. Many are telling us that senator feinstein, the long serving us senator in history, who was the first woman mayor of San Francisco and the first woman president of the San Francisco board of supervisors, was a great role model for women. Someone who was raised by women who were told that if they were very lucky, they could be a senators wife but not a senator. For Dianne Feinstein was one of my first introductions to the idea that i really could be anyone. I wanted to be knowing how to play the game, knowing how to walk the political line and get things done still is something really important that a lot of people, not just women, can can take from tomorrow.
