KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Klamath County School District Board of Directors has lobbied Oregon officials to substantially reduce social distancing requirements that necessitate hybrid learning in their classrooms, arguing for the benefits of full-time in-person instruction.
KFSD's board approved a resolution on Thursday to urge the Oregon Department of Education for an adjustment — reducing the 35-square-foot per student requirement to 9-square-feet effective April 5. The district's schools are currently on a hybrid model, offering in-person instruction two days a week and distance learning for three days, and the reduction in required spacing would allow for full-time classroom learning.
