Akhil Gogoi
GUWAHATI: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has filed a petition before the Supreme Court, challenging the Gauhati High Court order which rejected the bail plea of the peasants’ body chief Akhil Gogoi.
“After a prolonged hearing, the honourable Gauhati High Court rejected the bail plea of Gogoi. Thereafter, we had decided to move the Supreme Court challenging the order and accordingly we filed a petition on January 27,” advocate Shantanu Borthakur said.
However, no date has been fixed for hearing by the court as of now.
The high court, while rejecting the bail plea, observed that Gogoi had sent 15 members of his organization to camps to get them trained like Maoists. The court also said there were monetary transactions between Gogoi and the CPI (Maoist).
