A neighborhood to a standstill for hours. Bob redell live at the scene near the country club this morning with how it all came to an end nine hours later. Bob . Reporter yes. Just over an hour and a half ago. Good morning to you, laura. We are at gridley and holly in east san jose. This is a dispute over parking on the street behind us that escalated with a woman pulling out a gun according to san jose police. That woman surrendered an hour and a half ago. This is what it looked like around 3 30 this morning. Police had a bright light shown on her and was taken into custody after being holed up in a home on holly drive. Last night around 5 50, a 911 call came in. Two people fighting. Neighbors told officers this woman was upset over something that had to do with a parking situation. She was so angry that, at one point, the neighbors say she came outside with that gun and started pointing it at them. Then she went back inside the home. Police evacuated several homes nearby. They called out san joses version of s. W. A. T. They deployed a robot to approach the home. This woman did come out peacefully, surrendered and taken into custody and faces felony charges, possession of a firearm and brandishing a weapon. Bob redell, today in the bay. Thank you, bob. Now, a developing story in the north bay as the latest round of wet weather moves. A new problem is emerging in the fire zones. Underground damage is triggering. A warning of potential flooding and mudslides. This morning, cross creek road is shut down in the Fountain Grove neighborhood, an area severely damaged in the october wildfires. Pete suratos is joining us with what the city is trying to do to keep people safe. Good morning, pete. Reporter good morning to you, laura and marcus. They are taking a lot of measures to keep folks safe as you can imagine. You have cross creek road, which is closed. Its been closed since yesterday. They are keeping a close eye on the potential for sinkholes. They have to keep an eye on it because of the piping under the road that burned as a result of the wildfires. They came across it when they were surveying the area for mudslides. A significant amount of pipe under the ground was destroyed in the Fountain Grove area. At least eight sections of piping. Santa rosa has had to reactivate it because of the findings. If need be, they will take necessary measures to keep folks out of harms way. If it gets to mudslides or roads compromise z, we are going to ask people to leave the area. It doesnt sound like the rain is that severe. Reporter we are hoping it doesnt get to that point. A sinkhole opened in the Fountain Grove area. Crews were able to fix it. We are keeping an eye on other areas such as where we are standing with that rain approaching. Police are looking for a black, 1998 to 2000 toyota or lexus with damage to the front end. Today, the high profile case of kate steinle will return. Jose gar z jose is accused of shooting her. At issue is whether it was intentional. They say it was not, the suspect accidentally fired the gun and the bullet ricochet off the ground hitting steinle in the back. Juries questions were incorrectly translated about whether he fired the gun or pulled the trigger. 5 06, city council will have a plan to bring a new gun store to the city. Turners outdoorsman plans to open a store on industrial road. The stores Vice President says they have followed all the citys requirements so far. We had such wet weather for parts of the last week but we are going to have some of that rain moving through again this week. As you take a look at the seven day forecast at the bottom of the screen showing rain, also wet roads as we get a live look outside at the golden gate bridge. I want to show you how much rain we have to date and what it compares to. Santa rosa, two inches of rain, but its half of what we normally get. San francisco, close to an inch of rain, thats 38 of normal. We are really dry here with livermore the driest, only getting a quarter of the amount of rain we normally get for this date. So, we really do need some rain. What we are seeing this morning is not doing us any justice here. We are going to see some of the light showers moving through the peninsula, as well as the Santa Cruz Mountains. For the most part, mostly sprinkles, then we have seen the sprinkles moving to the east bay, fremont toward the trivalley. Light rain there and for san jose, still not measuring any rain as of yet. The High Temperatures today, heading into the upper 60s, warmer than where we should be for this time of year, reaching the upper 60s. Danville, 68 degrees for the high. Oakland, expect a high of 64 degrees and mid60s for the peninsula. Palo alto, today, 65 degrees and low 60s also this morning or this afternoon, rather, 62 degrees. Mill valley, 63 there. We will, at times have light rain moving through today, especially for the north bay. Areas around San Francisco and spanning toward oakland and farther to the north will have the highest chance of rain. We start to see a little more activity going as we head toward noon and 1 00 today. That rain will be moving off toward the east. So, the south bay, dont expect a lot today. We are only going to have a slight chance of spotty sprinkles before it moves on. Then, as we look at the forecast, we will have better chances of rain moving through between wednesday and thursday. This looks to bring us, hopefully, a little more rain and catch us up closer to where we should be as far as the rainfall totals to date. For sunday, there will be another storm system moving in. Caltrain will close skyline boulevard from bear creek road to black road all day long. This is expected to continue for the rest of the week. It may be the mantra here. These are two different road projects. One is a caltrans and the other is a santa clara project. Its too dark to show it to you. Lets roll video so you can see what we are talking about. This is black road, which will be shut down at skyline boulevard from 8 30 to 5 00 in the evening for county construction work. That construction started last week. Now, this is highway 35. Skyline boulevard will be shut down from black road to bear creek road around the same times, during the Daylight Hours from 6 00 to 6 00. If you look at the map, you will see what the locals are frustrated about. These are the two main ways into and out of their part of town all week. The residents of 171 homes will be blocked in or shut out. They say all because of a lack of communication. Get a phone call from school saying your kid is sick and throwing up, i have to say i cant . That doesnt seem reasonable. Why cant they Work Together . Close this and open that. Government at work. Reporter a lot of homeowners are feeling ragged and have less patience to deal with the latest road trouble. They were among the folks who were evacuated for days during the bear fire just last month. Memories of a very difficult winter up here are very fresh a year later. As far as we can tell, the construction is set to begin. We reached out to the county to see if they plan any changes. They have not responded. We reached out to caltrans, they said they will reevaluate. They are concerned about folks being blocked in or blocked out. In the Santa Cruz Mountains, kris sanchez, today in the bay. Information we all need to know. Thanks. A key deadline for victims of the wildfire. People in napa county have until 5 00 p. M. To decide if they will use a government or private program to clean up ash and debris. Today is the deadline for government help. Also, firefighters on the front lines of the north bay wildfires face serious dangers. Even though the flames are out, there are concerns of longterm health. They will be tested to see if they suffered toxic exposure fighting the fires. They plan to do urine and blood samples today. 200 firefighters are going to be part of the study. 5 34. Today, a San Francisco officer hurt by a hit and run driver will take a big step forward in his recovery. He will be moved to a rehabilitation facility in santa clara. Last month, he was critically injured when a suspect in a stolen suv ran him over in the tenderloin then drove off. He enjoyed teaching jujitsu to fellow officers. They held a martial arts seminar to raise money for the family. You are seeing all teams coming together to support a fallen fellow trainer in the community. Its really, really special. It will allow his wife to stay by his side during the recovery and get an apartment. 5 35. Take a look here at this dramatic night in the east bay over the weekend. An Oakland Police as well as chp cracked down on dangerous side shows. They issued citations and towed cars. We are expected to learn more about the operation today. The side show was advertised on social media. Police turned out in full force to make the streets safe. Happening today, pg e crews will relocate utility poles. Its part of a project that wraps up in 2022. They will remove and replace poles. Happening today. Amtrak launches a new schedule including the opening of a station called fairfield vacaville. Its outside Travis Air Force base. They will make shorter stops at most stations. Folks get used to that, we are looking over here. Most of the bay shows a nice, easy drive. No problems over the Santa Cruz Mountains. Thats great. A back up from the north bay from highway 37 through vallejo, we have a big slow down toward the carquinez bridge. It caused this back up. They are recovering from this close to the toll plaza. The back up continues to build off the split there at 680. That is one issue. In the area laura told you about, the new station and the schedule for capital corridor. A smooth drive when you pass through that area toward the bay bridge toll plaza. The metering lights are on. This is monday of the workweek. Yeah. Theres another one coming, right . We are really excited. This kicks off our holiday food drive this week. Thats right. We are going to be at area safeways. The weather is going to be perfect, i will make sure of that. We will be in the low 60s at the coast. The bay, 64 degrees. Inland, 65. Partly cloudy skies, then for sunday, well, thats when the rain returns. Well start to see that moving in during the afternoon and a High Temperature reaching into the low 60s from the bay to the coast and the inland areas. Looking at a chance of showers. Maybe you are planning to head to heavenly this weekend. There will be lots of snow midweek. The weekend, it all clears out and hopefully those roads will be clear by then. Temperatures reaching the low 40s on friday. Upper 40s for the rest of the weekend. There will be, it looks like a lot of fresh powder on the ground. It might be a great weekend for that. Muir woods has a chance of rain. Saturday will be the best day to get out there for a hike. May be muddy on friday. Of course, well be watching all of that with the temperatures in the upper 50s. If you are planning to head to monterey, low 60s this weekend. Not bad at all. It will be up to 64 degrees on sunday before the showers move in early next week. We will have rain before and after the weekend. For the most part, it looks pretty good. Im tracking three storm systems for this week. The first one moving in today. This is a heavier rain for San Francisco, oakland and parts of the north bay. The second one moving in on tuesday. This one looks like a more significant storm that could tap into subtropical moisture and bring heavy rain for the bay area. The third one on sunday and well have more on that. As we get a closer look at whats happening now, the seven day forecast is on the bottom of the screen, you can see the days when we will have rain and the days we wont.
