More hours. And we just learned from firefighters that this fire ar homeless encampment. The 3alarm fire started at that ca to elite Roofing Supply Company around 2 30 this afternoon. About 100 firefighters fought the flames and one firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries. Firefighters face several challenges, including high winds and temperatures in the 90s. At one point, the fire jumped Railroad Tracks and started heading toward industrial buildings. This is video shot from our nbc bay area sky ranger. Firefighters used a bulldozer to turn up a grass field to keep the fire from spreading onto the grass and moving on to the other buildings in the area. Winds sent thick black smoke over 4 causing a lot of delays. The smoke could be seen for miles. And firefighters say a large percentage of the vegetation fires that they do respond to start at homeless encampments. So again, this fire has been knocked down. Firefighters are going to remain on scene here for a couple more hours just to check for flareups. But investigators are out here trying to find out who was at that homeless encampment. People have taken to social media complaining about long lines and inability to see certain acts because they couldnt get into the venues. Its trekking east. Once that is out of the area behind we have this cooler air mass right here. That is going to bring a decrease in temperatures and it is also going to bring a building marine layer for the coast line. We dont have to worry much about it tonight, but we will get the chance to see that early tomorrow morning. So over the next couple of hours, the biggest difference is going to be really, i want to say a decrease in the winds. And the temperatures are going to be just a little bit cooler. The skydiving plane that crashed in hawaii on friday was involved in a terrifying midair incident three years ago here in the bay area. Ntsb says that in 2016, the twin engine plane stalled three times and then spun repeatedly before the pilot managed to land safely. It happened in byron, which is northeast of livermore. The ntsb says part of its investigation will be looking into repairs that were made after that 2016 incident.
