Today. We will see some spots reaching the low 90s again this afternoon, so ill have a look at that, and mike, youre updating the crash in the trivalley. With the help of our waze community, i didnt think it was a major crash and again another update came in, somebody else reported it as a minor crash. Well thank them, but also they picked up their cute waze logo there. Were looking at a slower drive from bernal to center boulevard. We are showing the slowdown as well coming down through pleasanton and in toward sunol. The cutthrough for 84 works well today and consider that to get around that crash if youre coming in out of livermore and altamont pass. A little slowing for hayward, no surprise. Same thing as the bay bridge toll plaza, where that disabled vehicle i do believe has been cleared. Back to you. Thank you, mike. Security or privacy . The discussion regarding the future of facial recognition continues tonight in the east bay. This comes a few months after San Francisco passed a version of a ban of that technology. Today in the bays pete suratos joins us live with a look at some of these details. Good morning, pete. Reporter good morning to you, guys. Oakland is going to discuss the topic of facial recognition, whether or not they should ban the technology. Of course as you guys mentioned, San Francisco banned this technology not too long ago. They did it back in march and when San Francisco did it, they became the first city in the u. S. To ban the use of facial recognition by police and other city departments. Now it was a part of a much bigger legislation that required city departments to establish use policies when it came to using this surveillance technology, but there are some critics such as a Public Safety group called stop crime sf that say this could hurt police who need all the help they can get. Now yesterday in San Francisco, there was a protest that took place over facial recognition. Protesters calling on amazon to cut ties with immigration and Customs Enforcement saying amazon is collaborating with the agency to detain and deport immigrants by providing the Homeland Security department with facial recognition software. We know theyre collaborating with i. C. E. , using their facial Recognition Technology and Amazon Web Services to hold data and information about undocumented immigrants and targeting them so that i. C. E. Can detain and deport people. So were here to say we do not stand for that. Reporter amazon spokesperson says it is up to government organizations to use that technology responsibly, and lawfully. As for oakland city council, theyll discuss the topic at 5 30 p. M. The boats captain tell us they had no idea what was on the line until the shark surfaced. Never in a gazillion years i would have thought id hook that in the bay, never. The fishermen say the shark carried their boat about two miles. It took over an hour, and seven people to reel it in. They reeled it in, all the way to the boat. Can you believe it . No. But it was a catch and release because its illegal to fish white sharks in california. Im surprised it didnt break the line. Absolutely. Right . Terrifying. And yes, you have warned us, kari, there be sharks out there. Yes. Were going to pull out all the lines we knew from the shark movies and jaws and shark week, all that stuff this morning. You can barely see anything across the bay this morning, and even for the drivers just heading out, nevermind the fishing boats. It is low visibility right now, and so as you step out the door this morning, heading out to work in antioch, it is all clear, while we see the fog and the low visibility near the coast. And were also going to see a wide range in temperatures today. So even though its now in the mid60s, were going to see some upper 80s today and even touching 90 degrees before its all said and done. With livermore today reaching 86 degrees, also see a high of 86 in morgan hill. San jose up to 83 degrees, and santa rosa up to 88. Well talk about the rest of the forecast with mike. You spotted something on the traffic cam. I want to point it out to all of you. Its happening right now. Look at this, folks. We were looking for the disabled vehicle over here, over there. Thats where the disabled vehicle is blocking one lane, its hard to make out. I saw a tow truck come out of the parking lot, down, reverse the opposite direction of traffic flow. The flashing lights warned everybody about it and right here helping get rid of the one disabled vehicle on the approach. That is an issue coming out of the maze but not from our immediate view here at the toll plaza, where traffic is moving well. It will move better, there you go, once they clear that vehicle completely. Lets move toward the approach on the maze itself, and we dont see a huge impact except for the tail end, 80 and 580. It should clear in the next couple of minutes. So far a good drive. Over here, south 680 does slow from about stone ridge i hope the crash is on the shoulder at sun sunol. Well check that. I saw the hood lifted on the vehicle in front of it, so theyre not just going to push this disabled vehicle out of the roadway. Theres some repair work going on there. Thats causing folks to shift over, so your far left lane in the cash lane is blocked. That will have an impact on the maze. Well see how this rippleles ou at the bay bridge. It will be in the upper 60s at first pitch and cooling off as the game goes along, mostly clear skies. Staying cool in santa cruz, but there will be a lot of clouds mixing in, and the sun starting to peek out a little bit more for the afternoon, with upper 60s there. Our weather pattern is very typical of summertime with High Pressure across the desert southwest, but by the weekend, we get a stronger onshore flow, as the storm system moves across the pacific northwest, and that means just slightly cooler temperatures from thursday to friday, and then heating up just a couple more degrees going into early next week, but as you can see in the sevenday forecast, for the innd areas, there really isnt a major change going into the rest of the week and for San Francisco, there will be at times more clouds and fog driftingby, but a slight cooldown for the end of the week and more sun in time for the weekend. Mike, you were checking on whats happening at the bay bridge. Any progress now . I think we have made progress, kari. As i was traveling back and forth from the studio they moved that disabled vehicle so thats the good news. They cleared the disabled vehicle from the cash lanes. The odd news is that because its summertime, the different traffic flow, we actually see a lighter build over on the left approach, so notice theres space here. These folks are not going to go over to the cash lanes because they have fastrak, theyll stick it out through the slow but moving steadily fastrak lanes so thats whats happening right now. The change there of course your biggest advantage is if you travel with hov, three or more through that area, you can avoid the backup completely taking b. A. R. T. There are no delays reported for the b. A. R. T. Trains underneath the bay through the tube and smooth flow for 49 trains getting more and more by the minute. Look at the crash scene. The aircraft on your tv screen was a fourseater helicopter, a robinson r44.
