You know sheltering is actually my jam. I am brigg it back. Its a great time to things. Easter is right around the corner this weekend and we always want to dye eggs. You actually found a natural dye that you can do to get this natural look on your eggs. Correct . Yes, were going to use vegetables and fruits from our kitchen we probably already have and things and honestly create our natural dye. Its a great science thing for kids. I included noah into this problem. He had so much fun. We get to do the coloring of the foods. I explained how he is going to react. I didnt have vinegar, so used lime juice. Which is the same as citric acid. It was fun, i didnt want to sacrifice the little beats that i had. So i used different forms, cherries, peas for the greens. It was really fun. So what is the process like . These are the materials, hard boiled eggs, for example, a soft pan, water, vinegar, mason jars or bowels. Dont be perfect. If you have a few colors, thats even fine. Depending what colors you want. Beets make red or pink. Tumeric is yellow, light tea dark brown vintage, red cabbage makes blue, who would have grown e known . Razz ber industry a beautiful greyish color. If you dont have all of these ingredients, org juice all will also work. Be creative. You can try grabbing flowers and boiling those. Those also yield colors. Its so fun. Once have you all the ingredients, i like the chalk to measure. The general rule is one to 2 cups produce, enough for the dyeing ingredients in the pot. So you add the dye ingredients for each color, cover it, boil it 1520 minutes. Pure the liquid dye into the jars, you can use the strainer and honestly let it cool. Add vinegar to the liquid. Place the eggs in the jar and bowl and kids love placing it in there. Oh, no, i had so much fun dipping all the eggs, stirring all the liquid. I only did it for an hourandahalf to two hours. You said you did it for 24 hours. I like to do it for like four hours to overnight. Actually the overnight i really enjoyed. For example, this is beets, this was for about 45 seconds, which you can tell are really strong and this was my that one is so cool. Color. This is my coffee. I did coffee. So its got this really cool natural exactly. Design. Its the lack of perfection is the beauty of it all. Im showing kids, look, it doesnt have to be perfect. Its about the experience and joy and slowing down, doing Something Like this together. The tumeric one is so pretty. Its got a bright orange, yellowy. By the way, it gets everywhere. If you use tumeric, make sure you dont have anything nearby you love and care about. Yes. Once you dye them, for the amount of time you want, remove them from the color you know from the jar. Lay it on a paper towel and then let themittle bit. A little secret i have is if you rub a Little Olive Oil with a paper towel, it actually will make them shiny. So if you love the shiny vibe. Before you get them or after . No, afterwards, for example, if we wanted to make this shiny, rub a Little Olive Oil and take a paper towel and spread it all around. It will make a much shinier version of your eggs. Love it. Put them in a bowl, use them as decor or put them in the fridge until morning. Ew, such loveliness. A creative project. How beautiful, naturaldyed eggs. Thank you so much. So much, im definitely going to be doing this again. Happy easter. Happy easter. That one. Were going to see these clouds linger for much of today, due to a storm system that is close by the bay area. Heres a look live in walnut creek. We are seeing some breaks in those clouds and our temperatures that will be in the upper 50s and low 60s going into the rest of today. We are also going to be watching out for a slight chance of rain. But no big storms once again. But weve seen a lot of really heavy rain affecting parts of Southern California. So this storm system has been very slow to move away. And its also kept it very cool we have been keeping track of the signatures and all thats going on as pretty much the whole country shelters in place. We know when the weather is warm, people have a hard time staying inside. There is a strong cold front sweeping across parts of the midwest into the south. That will bring in some cooler air going into the weekend. So queer looking at a warmup here while much of the rest of the country is going to be cooling off. So heres a look at whats going on right now. So we have the storm system thats slowly moving away, still bringing in a slight chance of rain for today. Its been a really heavy rain maker. Also some sie sierra are getting more snow. As we go hour by hour, there will still be a couple spotty showers. For the most part, we are not looking at a lot of widespread rain here, there will be a chance as we go into tonight, once again or tomorrow we are seeing a mix of sun and cloud and i think our rain chances will be going down significantly as we go into the next 24 hours. So as we go into the week, it is lookingrail really nice. Into the inland areas, we are looking at upper 60s, looking at San Francisco, a high of 62, a slight chance of showers and then we continue to warm up in the forecast with some of our coastal areas in the upper 60s.
