Were going to have another really nice day as we check out whats going on in dublin, looking at our temperature trend. Upper 40s is the way we start the morning. We go into early in the afternoon with upper 60s. We continue to warm up a few more degrees from yesterday. Overall were looking at a pretty pleasant afternoon with a breezy wind, sunshine, and high temperatures across the bay area. Well reach anywhere from the low 60s to the low 80s for the east bay valleys. We have a pretty significant heatup in the forecast. Ill talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. Its cinco de mayo, a holiday a lot of people like to celebrate together but officers are hoping to avoid what happened this weekend when a huge crowd gathered for an impromptu celebration. Today in the bays kris sanchez joins us live from san jose. What are police going to try to do to stop this one, kris . Reporter well, hi there, laura. Theyre asking people theyre trying to call on their sense of duty, really, to stay apart. You can see the burnout marks. Theyre out here from what was that impromptu party over the weekend. When we say there was a crowd out here, there was a crowd. Hundreds of people out. The witness who took the pictures says no one was wearing a mask and no one was keeping a six foot distance. Police chief eddie garcia says this puts the Publics Health and his Officers Health at risk, too. But if people think my officers are going into crowds to try to break them up and cite them, thats not going to happen. Reporter the chief does point out that crowds like that and scenes like that are not likely to get Health Officials to open up the shelter order any sooner. A reminder that shelter order says you can only socialize with people within your same household, so lets keep this party at home. In san jose, kris sanchez, today in the bay. The bay area Law Enforcement agencies are cracking down on people who are violating the shelter at home order. Today in the bays bob redell, joining us live. I know the mayor of San Francisco is issuing her own order. Reporter mayor london breed of San Francisco is warning people to keim your social distance for one of the citys most popular parks could be shutting down. Were talking about delores park. San Francisco Police chief bill scott says this past weekend a lot of people hung out at the park and did not practice their social distancing technique. Were talking about staying away from each other by measures of six feet or greater. And the city is reminding people its not okay to gather in large groups. San francisco plans to keep an eye out for crowds in all parks and outdoor space this is week. Along the san mateo coastline hundreds were in violation of the stayathome order. Police say between friday and sunday they contacted over 1,400 people. Of those they ordered almost 300 to leave the area because they traveled more than ten miles from their homes for Recreational Purposes in violation of the order. Eight people were given written citations. This path saturday santa cruz started closing all of its beaches between the hours of 11 00 a. M. And 5 00 p. M. To discourage outoftowners from driving long distances to visit their area while at the same time allowing the locals access to the beach in the Early Morning and during the sunset hours. Both are opening as part of governor newsoms plan to expand testing statewide. Similar sites opened including this one in san jose. The sites opening today are in santa rosa and in petaluma. Both are by appointment only. New details this morning on a new ucsf study focusing on San Franciscos mission district. Low income, minority men are at most at risk for getting the coronavirus. Researchers tested nearly 3,000 residents and workers. They found a little more than 2 tested positive. More than half showed no symptoms but the vast majority of those infected were men, many of whom were financially impacted from the pandemic and could not work from home. Well, here is a look at the latest numbers here in the bay area. There are now nearly 8,800 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Santa clara county added 13 cases. Thats its lowest oneday total since march 20th. 312 people have died. According to the chronicle a worker on hyde street stopped working there april 10th and coworkers learned of the diagnosis one week ago. Then on sunday an employee at the 9th street location south of market also tested positive. Crews did a deep cleaning overnight and reopened yesterday. Despite the pandemic Northern California hospitals on the whole are actually seeing far less emergency room visits and in some cases lowering staff levels. Doctors at uc davis say that the emergency room is 50 as busy as it was before the pandemic. Some of it may have to do with so many people hunkering down at home. Others may simply fear the risk of being exposed as they are. One uc davis doctor says the staff is encouraged to take time off. This was before the surge comes later. We are removing nurses and physician who is are still being paid but were giving them breaks from shifts where we dont need them there because when the surge comes they might be working double time. Mid month last month abo 1 of those coming through the doors were testing positive. Experts are trying to relieve some of the stress that expectant mothers may feel having to head to the hospital themselves to deliver a baby at possibility a hospitality where coronavirus patients are being treated. Some expectant mothers fear contracting the virus and, of course, passing it on to their baby. The president of the nonprofit march of dimes says there are ways to manage those fears. As much as possible to imagine that stress and anxiety with plenty of rest, eating healthy, exercise, breathing, all the things we know to do but also just do the things all the rest of us that we all have to do, right, maintaining our social distance, doing proper hand washing hygiene, wearing a mask out in public. They also recommend contacting the hospital where you plan to deliver to find out the changes made and how to prepare. Happening today fremont leaders are hoping to help struggling Small Businesses by delaying the planned minimum wage hike. It is supposed to go from 11 an hour to 13. 50 an hour for Small Businesses and up to 15 an hour for large businesses. Then as we go through the day our temperatures start to warm up. By late morning in the upper 60s. Eventually well make it into the 70s and were also going to see a pretty significant warmup going to the end of the week so wed better enjoy this cool air, relatively cool while we have it. It will be cool as we reach 63 degrees in half moon bay, San Francisco will once again head up to the mid60s. For the north bay were up to 80 in napa and 83 in antioch. Livermore were going to see a high of about 82 degrees and in san jose reaching into the upper 70s. A look at that wide view of the weather pattern we have across the region. And weve seen quite a few storms moving over the Pacific Northwest that still remains the case as we look at High Pressure that will be building over parts of Southern California moving into the bay area going into the next few days and as it gets right over the bay its going to give us an offshore wind flow, very warm temperatures, but then by the end of the weekend into next week well start to see some cooler air pushing in, possibly a chance of rain next week. Its good to at least see those kinds of changes ahead as we look at how warm its going to be. Were going to reach into the low 80s today, upper 80s tomorrow and then low 90s by thursday and friday. Friday will be the warmest day in the forecast, saturday also very warm. Notice the change just in time for mothers day. It will be nice to enjoy some time out on the patio and also getting a cooler breeze. Were also going to see that continuing into next week. So just the spike in hot temperatures but it doesnt last long. Mike, how is it looking for the morning commute . Kari, we have an easy drive around the bay but we do have a Traffic Alert and i have to call it out because its an poimportt roadway. To your right past 580 to Mountain House itself. Thats just north of 580. And we have byron highway which is a major avenue in through the area which is closed right now because of a big rig involved crash. Theres been a diesel spill there thats gotten into the soil. A pretty major cleanup that has to go on. Byron highway closed until 6 00. Kelso and Mountain House will take you through. Its closed between great valley and Mountain House for those familiar with the area. If youre not familiar with the area probably not a concern for you because it is out there over in contra costa county. The rest of the area shows a smooth drive coming in to the bay bridge and we have the light drive because Everything Else is light right now but more businesses opening. Well watch as things change. Back to you. A trio of b. A. S. E. Jumpers were taken away. Some people knew about it because they can be heard cheering in the background. This type of thing is 100 illegal. Police are trying to figure out if it had to do with a rowdy Late Night Party they caught up to later on the top floors of that very same condo building. If you think thats something, laura, listen to this one. This sounds like straight out of a hollywood blockbuster. Chp saying a car chase suspect, get this, dumped nearly 1 million out the window. Officers say this happened when they tried to pull over the car in merced. The driver did not stop taking off. Chp says the driver dumped the money all at once in boxes altogether so they managed to retrieve all of it. That person eventually surrendered. Officers arrested two other drivers and say all were involved in a marijuana deal. Well, take a look at this. You see the weaving car there . Authorities say a 5yearold utah boy is now in hot water 5 years old he got in the suv to drive to california. Officers saw the car going 30 miles an hour and moving erratically. They say they found the 5yearold struggling to see out of the front window, and he told them he was headed to california to buy a lamborghini. Both parents were at work and a sibling was supposed to be watching the boy. 5 years old im just surprised he could actually drive the car. After the Kensington Health care center in bakersfield seeing big cases of coronavirus, at least 40 people have been infected. More than half of the staff members. Not clear how many have been hospitalized or if many have died. Hospitals in california are looking for a life line to stay afloat right now and are asking lawmakers for immediate help. Californias Hospital Association says hospitals are seeing losses of about 14 billion, asking lawmakers to approve 1 billion in financial aid. Tonight 1,000 faith and Community Leaders plan to call for more to be done in support of undocumented immigrants during the pandemic. That group plans to hold a zoom meeting with state legislators.
