I think its good luck that we are seeing some rain moving into the bay area and this is not a particularly strong storm. We are looking at light rain to the north of us that will be moving from north to south. As we go into the rest of today right now we have storm ranger tracking it. Our mobile Doppler Radar. Showing very light rain up around parts of lake and mendocino counties. So far the bay area is dry as you head out the door. Some of that rain moving through lakeport and clear lake and that will be moving in for the rest of the day. Were going to have some scattered showers moving from north to south today. The weekend, sunny and mild conditions by the end of the weekend into early next week. We warm up and will be tracking more rain. Ill have more on that in a few minutes. Whats going on with the commute . Kari, your typical overnight lighter traffic flow will be the case as we look at your map of green sensors dominating the view. Ill zoom in to the south bay. Northbound 101 right at the 880 overcross or the interchange, i should say. Theres a minor crash. No major injuries but it will be a distraction northbound at the arrow. Further south story road near the off ramp, an encampment with a fire. You see those during colder weather, nothing out of control. An easy drive on the travel times over to the bay bridge. Businesses across Contra Costa County are scaling back following the county regressing into the red tier. The capacity of many indoor businesses from 50 to 25 or 100 people, whichever is fewer. Gyms must return to 10 of their maximum indoor capacity. Meanwhile, starting at midnight, no more Indoor Dining at San Francisco. That decision made by mayor london breed earlier this week due to the increase of infections within the city. Meanwhile alameda, napa and Solano County officials are warning that if recent increases continue all three would regress into the more restrictive tiers. Alameda is in the orange tier and Health Leaders warn moving into the red is not out of the question when it comes to the state when it makes rulings next week. Solano county, a regression would be back into the purple tier, the states most restrictive tier. Officials warn with the increase thats going on right now going back into the red or even purple tier is a possibility. San francisco taking new steps as it prepares for students to return to the classroom amid this pandemic. According to the examiner starting monday the city plans to deploy 20 disaster workers to help Public Schools access buildings for inperson learning. The workers will look at any repairs that need to be completed before some students return on january 25th. When it comes to making it in the bay the south bay appears to be the exception rather than the rule when it comes to lower rent in big cities. As you probably heard cities across america including San Francisco and oakland are seeing the largest drop in rent prices. According to the new Apartment List study reported by the mercury news san jose is experiencing only a 6 rent decrease. Im going to show you whats going on right now as we look at the light showers coming through the far north bay and were going to see in some of those spots a little bit of a wet morning but for most of us it wont arrive until the afternoon. This will keep the temperatures down as were going to see more clouds moving in, most of us in the upper 50s for today and then we start to see those showers developing to the north moving in. There may be a few areas especially along the coastline that will see heavier rain, but for most of us its going to be very light. Here we are at 5 00 and were starting to see the rain moving into parts of the peninsula and the east bay and kind of skipping around the south bay for the most part until after sunset and were also looking at some spots getting light amounts of rain. Other spots may not get much at all. This is a fairly weak system moving in and its going to clear out by tomorrow morning. Saturday and sunday are looking all dry for us. Some of the models are putting down anywhere from about a tenth to a quarter inch of rain. Coastal areas may see more as well as parts of the north bay. Up to half an inch of rain will be possible. As we head to the sierra, light snow for the week and the good news is we are seeing another system moving in next week. So even though this woen be a lot of snow we will have a another chance tuesday and wednesday. Were also going to see the chance of rain as we look at whats going on here, some upper 50s today but look at the warming well have between the weekend and early next week.
