To the east bay where hundreds of people were forced from their homes after Hazardous Materials were found in a backyard shed in san pablo. The evacuation here on the map. Affected residents are staying at the Contra Costa Community college. Bob redell is at the scene. Bob, do we know how soon they may get to go home . Perhaps this afternoon. San pablo police still have the neighborhood shutoff, and we are talking about a sixblock area, and its bordered by six blocks of homes that have been evacuated. San pablo police, as you can see, they have the area bordered off and are not letting anybody in. A hazmat team was called out to investigate the smell of gas in a backyard shed and when the team opened the door to the structure, this is what they discovered. They saw hundreds of boxes of Hazardous Materials in various containers, and some in Good Condition and some in not so Good Condition. Im nervous. I dont know. It was quiet and mysterious. Reporter initially there was a shelter in place and then it became a mandatory evacuation. The evacuees have been told they may not be able to return home until sometime later this afternoon. It was the homeowners brother that called in the smell of gas, but they were not able to tell us where the homeowner was or why somebody would have those chemicals in a shed. And Law Enforcement is promising tight security as the former president returns to the nations capital. Former President Trump is set to be arraigned today in front of a federal judge. Hes facing four felony counts for what prosecutors say were trumps efforts to remain in power even after he lost the election to joe biden, despite the claims the prosecution made. Trump used an angry mob to pressure pence more directly. The indictment says trump also led a scheme to overturn Election Results in seven states. Pressuring mike pence, and gathering false and fake electors. Its all of that conduct that is the gist of this case. This is the third indictment for trump, this one splitting candidates in the republican primary. I think each of these counts reek of politicalization. If ever he has earned and deserved something, its another indictment. If hes on the ballot, my plan is to vote for him. Trump remains the far and away leader in the republican race, and hes using the indictment to rake in campaign cash. The federal judge presiding over the case is Tanya Chutkan appointed by obama. A heated debate could be in the works between ron desantis and gavin newsom. Gavin newsom told fox news yesterday ron desantis would be more than willing to debate desantis. A spokesperson for Governor Newsom says early november has been suggested. A young girl who was found unresponsive in a Swimming Pool while attending summer camp now died. Thchool sayshey found the girl unresponsive on monday. Investigators say lifeguards administered cpr and the girl was taken to the hospital, and the San Jose Police department reported the girl died yesterday. You see the hyundai sedan rammed into the store, and some things were scattered in the parking lot, including cigarettes and a apple community, and police are treating this as a robbery. Today in the bays Ginger Conejero saab is in San Francisco where the governor provided similar help, but ginger how is this different, what is happening in oakland from what happened in San Francisco . It is similar in that the governor called for help in addressing the fentanyl crisis, and by june the numbers were doubled because it was seen by city leadership as something that had a positive impact in addressing the drug problem in the city, and others from the state have been called into San Francisco including the National Guard of california. Now oakland is the city in the bay area asking for help. Chp will be deployed throughout the city for crime. Its a move that has been welcomed by oakland city leaders. The mayor said i am grateful to Governor Newsom for granting this request to allow our officers to focus on Violent Crime and urgent city needs. While crime has gotten out of hand, an extra enforcement is necessary. Those are serious crimes that have have not seen i grew up in oakland and i have not seen that for many, many years. It will take Law Enforcement to enforce the laws we have. If you do the crime you will do the time. I think we need to get back to that. Reporter oakland is also working with Alameda CountySheriffs Office for additional Law Enforcement support. This is something that Council Member gallo also talked about. He is throwing his support to this latest development. Ginger, you also mentioned the partnership with San Francisco and the chp. How much support do we know was actually given, and what is the impact . Reporter back in may, as mentioned in the joint operation, 7 to 10 chp officers were sent to the city. The first six weeks, Governor Newsom touted the success of the move. He said they were able to actually seize drugs, guns and stolen goods. There was also fentanyl they seized, enough to kill the city three times over. This was seen as a positive move. By june those numbers doubled from 7 to 10, and it was 14 to 20 chp officers in San Francisco sent to San Francisco. People will hope to see theres also a positive impact in oakland. Yeah, definitely a problem on the streets out there in many cities in the bay area. Thank you. San francisco leaders are hosting a town hall meeting to address crime in one of the citys most troubled neighborhoods. District attorney, brooke jenkins, and chief bill scott is set to speak there. Just last month a man was shot and killed blocks from city hall. The meeting starts tonight at 6 00. Former President Donald Trump will be arraigned on criminal charges for the third time this year later today. Scott mcgrew, this time its happening in washington, d. C. Itself. Thats right. Good morning. The other case, of course, is a new york state state case, and a case in florida. The new york case involves falsifying Business Records as a candidate. The florida case is about documents he kept after he left the white house. Todays case involves trumps actions trying to overturn the 2020 president ial election, specifically conspiracy to defraud the united states, and conspiracy to obstruct a official proceeding and the violation of civil rights in connection with their ability to vote and have that vote count. Prosecutors tend to charge crimes they think they can prove, and crimes that are not open to interpretation. Theres nothing in the charging documents about the attack on the capitol, even though many people feel trump motivated and encouraged his supporters in that attack. You will still hear his supporters claim that trump is connected from the charges by the first amendment, that he had the right to question the election, but thats not what the prosecution is saying. The prosecution fully acknowledges trump had the right to say anything he wanted and to speak publicly about the election, falsely, but he was not free to do whatever he wanted to do. If you think your bank shortchanged you, you can tell anybody because thats your right, but you cant rob the bank to get the money back. President trump will make his first appearance at 1 00 p. M. California time. Past arraignments have gone smoothly, and this is the third time President Trump has been arraigned totaling 78 accusations in those three cases. And there could be one more to come in georgia. Trump on tape asking Georgia State officials to find him thousands of votes to tip georgia from a biden win to a trump win.
