Have a great day. Thanks roberta. Republican president ial candidate donald trump is under fire again this fulltime for his remarks on arizona senator john mccains war record. Hes not a war hero. He is a war hero hes a hero because he was captured. I like people that werent capture okay . I hate to tell you that. Even as Donald Trumps comments on john mccain continue to make headlines, the republican president ial candidate is refusing to back down. Trump is insisting i will say what i want to say. Now these moments come on the heels of him depicting mexican immigrants as rapist and drug dealers. Its the remarks about immigrants that have some state lawmakers asking california to dump trump. Political analyst melissa caen joins us with more. Boy hes getting the attention. A little bit right . Hes everywhere. And you know what he might actually now be in the law books in the state of california. Now recently a group of state senators introduced a resolution asking that california state resources be divested from donald trump and all his related companies. The reason for the resolution is trumps statement that mexico is quote sending people that have lots of problems and are bringing those problems with us. Theyre bringing drugs, theyre bringing crime, they are racist, unquote. The resolution also condemns texas senator ted cruz who lawmakers believe defended trump although theres no divestment request with relation to cruz. The press conference. The senators had some choice words for trump saying things like hes not welcome in the state of california but one state senator mitchell implied that if it were 50 years ago trump would be a member of the kkk. His sentiments arent new. The difference is, today in 2015, he is removed the white cloak. So if the resolution were to pass, the effect would be just a statement of policy. The resolutions arent enforceable like a law. And ill give you an example. Manufactures passed in 2013 demanding divestment in russia but there hasnt been a big change in russia. Now that russian resolution also called for donald trump not to host the Miss Universe pageant in moscow in 2013 which he did anyway. The resolution is the second one involving donald trump. And i got to believe to your point hes just loving all this attention. Apparently. So what is the political impact for trump in the senators . So for the state senators, they get to make speeches and impress their supporters. Now they love calling for divestment. Already this year the nation of turkey and mexico for divestment. Its a popular thing to threaten because we have the nations largest pension fund. Our calipers fund worth about 300 billion. Thats a big gun to carry around threatening to use in a divestment situation. Its an easy way to score political points, now for trump he can add the worlds eighth largest economy to his ever growing list of detractors. Which is not exactly good news. But on the other hand, he can go to his supporters and say, you know who hates me . Those crazy california liberals. Thats how you know im doing something right. So he could spin this to his benefit as well. We do know that hes not been scared off by this resolution. Just two days after it was introduced, he gave a speech in los angeles where he stood by his prior comments on immigration so it looks like the fight between he and him and the state of california is going to continue. Is he electable and does he think hes got a shot . I think he thinks he has a shot. If you asked him under a Lie Detector Test right now, he would pass. And saying i believe that i can do this. Amazing. All right. Melissa thanks. Thank you. Time now is 6 53. A massacre in modesto. This morning, the suspect is behind bars. What we know about those five victims.
