Applause here today at the Marines Memorial Club when she said that facebooks refusal tof hers shows that fake news is their model. If i didnt have thick skin, i wouldnt be speaker of the house. Reporter she says she was unphased by a recent video doctored to make it look like she was slurring her words. And then he had a press conference in the rose garden with all this sort of visuals that reporter but she is concerned that it will turn people away in running for office and she took aim at facebook for acknowledging that it was fake but still not removing it. Something like Facebook Says i know this is false, b were st anyway. And she has changed her mind about the company. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt on russia, but clearly they unwitting butleay wittingly were accomplices and enablers of false information to go across facebook. Reporter she also thanked Robert Mueller and his team for stating that russia did interfere in the 2016 election. Very clearly stating that russia made an assault on our election, and thats just plain wrong. Thats an attack on america. Reporter pelosi called for the report to be made public without redactions and said mueller did not exonerate the president. He also was clear in saying that if he thought the president could be cleared, he would have cleared him, but he didnt. And that is very clear. Reporter but she stopped short of calling for impeachment, saying democrats will continue to investigate. You dont bring an indictment or you dont bring impeachment unless you have all of the facts, the strongest possible case, so that the president is held accountable one way or another. Reporter facebooks Shareholder Meeting is tomorrow morning, and already a number of groups are planning to protest against their secrecy and other policies. In San Francisco, melissa caen, kpix5. As melissa just mentioned, facebooks Shareholder Meeting is set for tomorrow morning and protesters are expected to be there. Police investigating a hitandrun rampage in San Francisco, a woman accused of smashing into at least six cars, injuring just as many people. The chaos began in front of the sfpd tender loin station when Police Spotted a stolen suv and it didnt end until the driver hit her last car at 6th and clara south of market. Now, part of it was caught on camera. Dozens of officers tried to catch her, but the driver frantically tried to get away. The suspect pulled her car back and forth, crashing into a pole, hitting other vehicles and putting officers in danger. Her first victim was a construction worker. The driver him when she hit scovilleing, and unfortunately it didnt end there. She kept going eastbound and kept hitting pedestrians and cars across market street. In all there were about six different collisions. We spoke with an eyewitness who saw the chaos unfold. The car came up eddie street and hit a bunch of cars on the way up the street and then hit some scaffolding, but i did see somebody lying in the ground like sort of in the intersection a couple blocks down. Ive been in this neighborhood for about a year and a half and theres been some really awful things that have happened, but this is definitely one of the worst. Luckily most of the injuries to drivers and pedestrians were not serious. Police say a female suspect is in custody. Her identity has not yet been released. A major headache happening on b. A. R. T. Today, first thousands of extra riders opted for Public Transit after a deadly crash this morning on the bay bridge. Then this afternoon a fire on the tracks briefly shut down service. Were live at the embarcadero station with how b. A. R. T. Is running at this hour. Andrea . Take a look behind me right now. B. A. R. T. Says 10,000 extra riders took the transbay tube into San Francisco this morning because of that crash, adding to the about 100,000 that use it during the daytime commute hours. You can see the platform here at embarcadero station. They tell me it is not normally overcrowded from what it is this time of day. B. A. R. T. Says theyre running extra cars to help alleviate the extra burden of all of these extra people taking b. A. R. T. Across the bay through the transbay tube. B. A. R. T. Says it willer its stations by keeping passengers behind pay gates until platforms have fully cleared. Adding to the troubles was a fire between the North Berkeley and el serito l norte station the tracks that bly stopped service on the tracks of the richmond line to get to east bay at one point. That has been cleared. That mess has been cleared. And now people are just trying to get home at this point. Elizabeth and veronica, trying to get home after a very long and trying day of commuting. Live here on the embarcadero b. A. R. T. Platform, andria borba, kpix5. Lets look at our traffic computer driving out of San Francisco and onto the bay bridge. Getting heavier, look at all that red. Moderate to heavy, but now mostly red as you get onto the bridge. Traffic does start to ease up a little bit once you get on there. The cause of the traffic mess started at the very start of the morning commute. About 4 30 a. M. , a box truck rearended a golden gate transit bus. Four people were in the truck. One of the passengers died. Still too early to know why it happened or how it happened, but slowly piecing it together. It was taking people from the mcarthur b. A. R. T. Station at the time of the crash. Four people were taken to the hospital. They are expected to be okay. Many School Districts dont have enough classrooms or even teachers for their students. One fremont district has a school they cant fill. Construction on lilyya bringhurst elementary in in fremont is complete but it wont open until 2020. Were live in fremont to explain why. Devin . Reporter yes. This new school has a name, a principal, everything except the one thing thats most important, actually, students. The New Elementary School is the first to be built in fremont in 25 years and will eventually be home to more than a thousand students but for the next year, it will sit empty, a School Without a student body. We would not have enough students to open the school this fall to make it a fiscally responsible decision to do so. Reporter so why build it if you dont actually have the students to fill it . The area is in the middle of a building boom with more than 4,000 Housing Units planned or under construction, and the school will simply be finished first. Its very frustrating. Reporter michael lima has two daughters in the districts Spanish Immersion Program and wonders why the brandnew campus couldnt be used even temporarily for other students and other programs. You know theres a school thats available and its just frustrating to find out that its not an option to use it for permanent use or even a temporary use for our purposes. Reporter the district, however, says it doesnt make sense to move students to the new campus for only a year. Its not really a question of if there are going to be students there, enough students. Its a question of when. Reporter the district estimates that it would have cost about a Million Dollars just to staff the school and the operational budget would have cost even more and they say in the face of low enrollment, that just didnt make sense for the Upcoming School year. Devin fehely, kpix5. Theres been pushback into east bay cities on how to celebrate. The latest controversy comes from the east contra costa city of oakly. Last night the mayor wanted to read a proclamation to recognize pride month, but two members of the city council complained. One said it was too controversial. The other said veterans only get memorial day, but gay pride is an entire month. Residents there also spoke up. This country, its freedom. You can do what you want to do. But at the same time, there are those of us that have different feelings. Everybody has their own preferences and, you know, the lgbtq thing doesnt bother me at all. B t mayor has the final say and issued the proclamation. Meanwhile a change of heart in alameda county, the city of dublin took heat for refusing to fly the rainbow flag next month, but after talking to the Lgbtq Community the mayor and the city council councilman have switched sides and the flag will fly after all. There was a vote to declare june pride month. Some residents argue that the American Flag is the only flag that includes everyone. New at 6 00, one year ago today, sales force officially changed the San Francisco sky line for years to come. Kpix5s Wilson Walker explains this is only the beginning. Reporter well, it has been one year now since so much attention was paid to the Sales Force Tower, how it stands above the old sky line, how it stands symbolically above a changing city. Well, that new sky line, it is still coming together. Were done but were process of moving tenants into the building. Reporter one year in and the Sales Force Tower feels packed but some floors of this building still very much a work in progress. From an occupancy standpoint right now were at about 80 , moving to 100 by year end. Reporter and just as it has been filling up, so has the rest of south of market with a wave of high and midrise buildings from just off the embarcadero all the way out to van ness. And not only are they filling in that new sky line, they are redrawing its sense of style. It is, but its beautiful. I mean, very seldom do you see architecture like this. So im happy to have it literally right outside my window. Reporter sheila lives next to mira on the 100 block of fulls alm, the most eye catching of the new towers, but there are more on the way, including the one that will become the second tallest in San Francisco. I think its a more versatile look than the look thats currently here, but its a new uniformity. Even though its looks struck her as familiar, perhaps because it comes from the same architectural minds as the nearby chevron 181 fremont. But just take a walk around here. There is construction everywhere. The neighborhood is growing and its going to continue to grow, and i think it adds value to our neighborhood. Reporter we have just scratched the surface on some of the projects that are coming up between van ness and the bay, oceanwide by the way that soon to be second tallest, thats set to open in 2021. New at 6 00, Stanford University has big plans for expansion and is pushing to get its permits approved, but Santa Clara County says the plans are just not big enough. Kpix5s len ramirez joins us from stanford to explain. Len . Reporter unlike the past permitting process that stanford seemed to really breeze through, this time it looks like the university and santa clara are headed for a fight over how much housing stanford would be required to build. On a picture perfect day it seems all is well on the stanford campus, but shelby and olivia say theres a crisis and it has to do with housing. The workers cant afford to live anywhere close to stanford. You have to drive two or three hours, drop off your kids. You barely get any sleeps. You have to go to modesto, somewhere across the bay. Reporter stanfords ambitious plans for growth, the university has applied to Santa Clara County for a new general use permit which is a blueprint developing the campus over the next couple of decades. The plan calls for 2 million square feet of new Research Buildings and new housing but only 550 of the units are for nonstudents. This new general use permit is going to bring 7,000 to 10,000 more people into the area and if they dont house any of those people, then were just going to be its just going to be a disaster. Reporter they rejected the plan asking for 2,000 more Housing Units for faculty and staff before it can be approved. Were trying to work withstandford to make sure all the actions that they take really have a net net positive for our community, positive in that they get to develop and positive that we all get to benefit from that development. Reporter no one from stanford was available for comment, but they sent a statement that reads we are trying to have reasonable housing that minimizes adverse impacts on our neighbors. In our conversations with the county, we are trying to strike the right balance. The county is asking will take place thursday night at palo alto city hall. At stanford, len ramirez, kpix5. This evening authorities in the north bay are looking for a suspect who robbed a victim of their lifes work. In contra costa county, what might have become shops or homes will become a park, with one very special rock. They call it painted rock where generations of students at nearby st. Marries and camp lindo high school have left their mark. The 84acre site was about to be sold for new development, but after raising nearly 2 million from thousands of residents, painted rock has been saved. It has sweeping views and will be a haven for wildlife as well as a park for hikers and dog walkers. And all of those hikers will have plenty to celebrate. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous. Yes. And if you like it warm, its going to be even nicer for you. Much of the second half of the sevenday forecast, thats going to be the theme. This is anything but warm. This is the marine layer that has come on in force. Were just starting to see this overtake much of the city. As far as the way it feels out there, right now its still 81 in concord, so no marine layer here. 61 in the city for San Francisco and san jose. It is sunny and 68 degrees for you guys. Nothing to see on hideaf for you locally, but look at whats going on in the sierra, thunderstorms lining the range and as long weot a weak storm in the neighborhood thats going to be happening and well get in the act in a small way here tomorrow with perhaps an isolated shower in the north bay. It wont be a big deal, but lets watch the futurecast on that. Ill play it forward into tomorrow and well stop it right there, at 3 00 tomorrow afternoon and at best this would just be a stray isolated shower for the north bay. We dont really see anything else across the bay except maybe some more of the marine layer that comes on shore and thats going to be about it. Here are your headlines on that, low clouds and fog, we just saw that, saw that moving in already. It will be cooler tomorrow as the weak little system brings a light an thats all weve got, a feway isolated showers. As far as daytime highs go, lets take a look at everybody. Not getting along with teammates or not likingak or my coaches, not anything negative towards the warriors. It was a personal standpoint and what i wanted for myself.
